Ozone therapy against cellulite. Reviews and results

How I want to delay old age! Linger forever in the land of youth and beauty! Is it possible? After all, science does not stand still and hundreds of methods of radical rejuvenation are being developed every day?! Visitors to cosmetology and beauty salons have probably already heard about what ozone therapy is. Reviews of the “before” and “after” photos are polarizing, but it cannot be denied that the method works. It seems like this is a step forward into a new, youthful future!

What is ozone, what are its benefits and harms?

Ozone is a gaseous substance, a triatomic form of oxygen. Contained in the atmosphere, it protects our planet from solar radiation.

It has a specific odor and high oxidizing ability. As a strong oxidizing reagent, it is widely used in medicine (in almost all its branches) against fungi, bacteria, mold and other pathogenic microflora.

For example, for:

  • sterilization of medical instruments;
  • air or water purification (ozonation);
  • disinfection of premises.

The substance is also used for ozonizing various solutions for subcutaneous, intravenous, and contact use.

A similar solution is used to break down fat deposits and local weight loss.

We will consider the principle of action of the solution in tissues in more detail in the section “How does ozone work for weight loss,” but for now let’s look at how this substance is obtained, what its benefits are and whether it is safe to use it on the human body.

Contraindications

It is not recommended to perform ozone therapy:

  • in the acute period of infectious and chronic diseases;
  • for diseases of the circulatory system;
  • in the presence of tumors;
  • with liver and kidney failure;
  • during pregnancy and lactation;
  • in the presence of pathologies of the endocrine system;
  • for skin diseases and varicose veins;
  • in cases of wounds and injuries in the problem area.

Adverse reactions during ozone therapy are painful and unpleasant sensations, the appearance of swelling, the duration of which does not exceed 2 days (but usually disappears within a few hours). If a hematoma occurs in the injection area, it will resolve in 4 to 6 days. Very rarely, an allergic rash and soft tissue swelling may occur as a reaction to ozone.

You should know that ozone therapy as a means of treating cellulite has not undergone a sufficient number of clinical trials, which clients are always warned about in foreign clinics. In particular, the effect of ozone on the formation of tumors has not yet been thoroughly studied, so people who are prone to the appearance of tumors or have a history of cysts, papillomas and polyps are better off not signing up for ozone therapy.

How is ozone obtained for cosmetic procedures?

Ozone is formed in many processes. First of all, it is released naturally from oxygen under the influence of ultraviolet radiation or electrical discharges, such as during a thunderstorm.

But for ozone therapy in medicine or cosmetology, it is obtained artificially. Using special devices - ozonizers.

Such a device produces ozone from oxygen contained in the atmospheric air. There are many synthesis methods. Let's look at the example of the effect of an electric discharge.

  1. Air or pure oxygen is passed between the electrodes, which are connected to a voltage source. But not everything is so simple, certain conditions must be met: the area of the electrodes, the gas supply rate, its temperature and pressure, the frequency of current pulsation, etc.
  2. All these conditions are effectively met in the ozonizer, so the output is an ozone-containing gas mixture with high reactivity. It is with this mixture that the bottle with saline solution is saturated for 10 minutes.
  3. It is then injected subcutaneously into areas of cellulite to produce a lipolytic effect that destroys adipose tissue.

The use of ozone in medicine continues to be controversial due to the simultaneous combination of toxic and medicinal properties.

The mixture itself consists of 5% ozone, the rest is oxygen.

The effects of ozone on the body

In moderate dosages, ozone leads to the destruction of fatty deposits in cells and tissues without disrupting the work and functions of the body. If you abuse the effect of ozone, increase the dosage for a more effective result, you can introduce an infection into the body, succumbing to its intoxication.

There are positive and negative properties of ozone; for each person their amount will be individual. In order not to provoke a large number of negative aspects, you just need to follow the dosage of the substance and the frequency of its use.

The advantages of ozone therapy are:

  • Destruction of toxic substances;
  • Stimulation of blood circulation;
  • Reduced blood clotting;
  • Strengthening biologically active substances;
  • Preventing the development of microorganisms;
  • Increased immunity;
  • Relieving pain in the stomach area.

With the correct dosage of the substance, a person will experience all these benefits for himself. But not everything is as rosy as it seems. Ozone therapy also has negative aspects of its action, which in the most critical situations lead to death. Among the disadvantages of therapy are:

  • Adverse effects on the lungs;
  • Irritation of mucous membranes;
  • Risk of atherosclerosis;
  • Destruction of sperm;
  • Infertility.

Using ozone for weight loss, you need to become familiar with the consequences that arise. Not every body is able to adequately respond to certain changes within it, so you should be careful with the dosage and use of ozone.

Benefit (5 advantages)

An undeniable advantage of ozonation after treating water or any solutions (for example, physiological) is the absence of toxic compounds directly in the liquid itself. The same cannot be said about chlorinated water with a similar antibacterial, deodorizing and antiseptic effect.

After numerous studies, it was found that the ozone-oxygen solution has a multifaceted effect on the body:

  • activates metabolism;
  • has antiseptic, antibacterial, detoxification, antioxidant effects;
  • reduces pain symptoms;
  • activates the body's defenses.

This makes it possible to use ozone therapy in the complex treatment and prevention of a wide variety of diseases.

Ozone therapy for stretch marks

Stretch marks are atrophic scars that most often appear during pregnancy and during the process of losing weight after childbirth. Taking creams and other topical agents in their pure form does not always help fight stretch marks. To eliminate stretch marks, it is necessary to use hardware intervention methods, including ozone therapy.

It will be effective only in the initial stages of stretch mark development; advanced stretch marks will require longer exposure. During the procedure, the area with stretch marks is chipped, and an ozone-oxygen mixture is injected under the skin. After this, small stretch marks become invisible, the skin condition improves, it becomes elastic and smooth. Ozone therapy improves microcirculation, activates metabolic processes, and increases skin elasticity. It must be remembered that only in the initial stages of the appearance of stretch marks will the method have the most positive effect.

Harm

Atmospheric ozone is hazardous if inhaled. Its increased oxidizing ability, as well as participation in many reactions accompanied by the formation of free radicals, determines its high toxicity.

But this applies exclusively to the effect of atmospheric ozone on the respiratory system. It is generally toxic, irritating, carcinogenic.

It should be noted that the O3 molecule is quite unstable in air and quickly disintegrates into O2 with the release of heat. And this is facilitated by an increase in ambient temperature and a decrease in pressure.

The problem is that oxygen in too high a concentration can be toxic to cells because it creates free radicals that damage cellular structure.

Plastic surgeon Manish Shah

Otherwise, if the solution is prepared correctly, the conditions for its preparation, and the administration technique are followed, there is nothing to be afraid of.

Who is ozone therapy indicated for?

Ozone therapy is used not only to treat cellite. Such sessions are indicated for solving:

  • Cosmetological problems: getting rid of facial wrinkles, local fat accumulations;
  • Dermatological problems: in the treatment of furunculosis, seborrhea, baldness;
  • Urological problems: an auxiliary method to combat pyelonephritis, cystitis, prostatitis;
  • Gynecological problems: in the treatment of inflammation of the female genital organs, including postpartum infections, as a prevention of premature termination of pregnancy;
  • Gastroenterological problems: as part of complex therapy for gastritis, diabetes, colitis and peptic ulcers.

Indications for ozone therapy

How does ozone work for weight loss?

When the solution is administered subcutaneously, ozone begins a selective (selective) interaction with organic compounds present in cell membranes and blood plasma.

This is due to the polar structure of the molecule itself. Compounds that contain free double bonds react with ozone. And it is unsaturated fatty acids, amino acids, and SH groups of proteins that become most sensitive to this substance.

As a result of a selective reaction, organic peroxides and ozonides are generated. These metabolic products have different biological effects, which we discussed above:

  • bactericidal, fungicidal;
  • acceleration of metabolism;
  • relieving inflammation;
  • mild pain relief;
  • immunomodulation.

These products oxidize the membrane of pathogenic microorganisms, disrupting the integrity of the cell. It is on this ability that the main antiseptic and bactericidal effect is based. Healthy cells remain unharmed.

The same thing happens with the sclerotic membranes of fat capsules. Ozone helps to destroy them, dissolve fatty tissue and remove it naturally from the body. As a result, the appearance of cellulite is reduced.

Operating principle

How does ozone therapy work for weight loss? A significant advantage of this technique is the possibility of selective weight loss: patients, under the supervision of a specialist, can independently determine the most problematic areas, which will be subject to further adjustment . Numerous injections into the area of fat deposits (abdomen, buttocks, thighs, inner surface of the arms, etc.) are made to an average depth. Once in the skin, ozone begins to stimulate internal processes that help break down fat and improve the appearance of the skin.

So, what happens in our body after injections? Ozone saturates cells with oxygen, removes toxins and various waste products, improves blood circulation, and optimizes metabolism. Normalization of internal processes has a beneficial effect on the body, accelerates local metabolism, which leads to a decrease in fat. In addition to solving the main problem, the procedure provides an auxiliary lifting effect and allows the skin to tighten. Ozone therapy for cellulite gives a good result, but you need to try to maintain it all the time.

When is the procedure most effective?

The most favorable period for the procedure is the initial forms of cellulite. When it is only a cosmetic problem, ozone therapy for weight loss can be used as the only treatment method.

In the initial stages, it is much easier to achieve smooth, tightened skin, increase its elasticity and tone, and make the color even and healthy.

Dermatologist Margaret Weiss

With advanced forms, an integrated approach for systemic weight loss will be required. The procedure can be carried out in conjunction with certain dietary restrictions, moderate sports activities, massage and other techniques in the fight against excess weight.

Prevention of cellulite

To prevent the formation of “orange peel”, you should follow simple rules:

  • Nutrition correction: eliminate unhealthy foods, fast carbohydrates, fats, add more greens, vegetables, protein and fruits.
  • Get rid of bad habits.
  • Drink at least 2 liters of clean water per day;
  • Lead an active lifestyle: do morning exercises, go to the gym, do cardio exercises, or take daily walks down the street or in the park.
  • Take a contrast shower more often or self-massage the problem area, apply wraps, masks or scrubs (no more than 2 times a week).
  • If you suspect varicose veins, consult a specialist.
  • Treat and prevent chronic illnesses in a timely manner.

Ozone therapy is an effective measure to eliminate cellulite, but the procedure will only be successful if you follow a diet and perform regular exercise.

How is ozone therapy for weight loss performed?

At a preliminary consultation with the patient, all points regarding the area that most needs this kind of manipulation are discussed. This could be the abdomen, hips, buttocks, waist, etc.

The number of upcoming procedures is determined taking into account the stage, form (both fibroscleratic and edematous forms can be treated) of cellulite.

Dermatologist Emily Altman

The number of injections during one session and the number of procedures is determined only by the cosmetologist. It all depends on the severity of the problem. For example, to eliminate fat accumulations, it is possible to inject a solution into 5-12 points at a time.

Also during the consultation, the cosmetologist finds out whether the patient has any contraindications.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

  1. violation of the rheological properties of blood;
  2. tendency to seizures;
  3. intoxication of the body;
  4. endocrine diseases;
  5. hormonal imbalance;
  6. severe diseases of internal organs;
  7. epilepsy;
  8. low pressure.

Before the procedure, antiseptic treatment of the problem area is carried out. The saline solution is prepared a few minutes before injections, since the half-life of the active substance is quite short - about half an hour. The cosmetologist independently determines the ozone concentration, depending on the stage of cellulite.

An oxygen-ozone cocktail is administered subcutaneously. If the pain threshold is low, anesthesia with local anesthetics is first performed.

The whole procedure takes about half an hour. To enhance the effect after some time, you can perform an anti-cellulite vacuum roller massage. It will speed up the transition of fatty substances from damaged fat cells to lymphatic vessels and help remove fat from the body faster.

For the next few days, it is recommended to avoid visiting gyms, saunas, steam baths, solariums, and aggressive cosmetic procedures (skin scrubbing, ultrasound or laser liposuction, etc.).

Dermatologist Anthony Perry

Preparation for the procedure

It boils down to a thorough examination of the medical history for the timely identification of existing contraindications. Of course, the doctor performing the procedure is obliged to warn the patient about the sensations that she may experience during injections of the oxygen-ozone mixture.

In addition, one should not discount individual ozone intolerance, which excludes the possibility of using ozone therapy in principle.

The doctor performing ozone therapy must follow all the rules of asepsis and antisepsis so that the patient does not experience undesirable consequences.

Question answer

No, the doctor works for about half an hour.

The cost depends on several factors: city, volume of work, injection area, specialist qualifications, clinic, etc. But on average, the price for ozone therapy for weight loss in Moscow ranges from 500 to 2000 rubles. for the procedure. You will need from 6 to 15 of them with an interval of 3-5 days (determined by a cosmetologist).

The doctor will not keep you for long. Typically, after the procedure, the patient is asked to lie down for a quarter of an hour to relieve pain. Then you can go home and do the same things. Doctors do not recommend visiting a solarium, sauna, or playing sports for the first time (2-3 days). You can go for a massage after 4 days.

Skin care after the procedure

For the treatment of edematous fibrosclerotic panniculopathy (and this is the scientific name for cellulite), first and second degree ozone monotherapy is usually sufficient. When the process is far advanced, it is necessary to use additional methods that enhance the effect of ozone therapy and consolidate its results. The most effective in this situation is lymphatic drainage, used after an ozone therapy session. It is known that one of the main reasons for the development of cellulite is a violation of the outflow of lymph in problem areas. Of course, it is necessary to follow a diet: refined carbohydrates most actively “settle” in the thigh area - baked goods, white bread, cakes, biscuits... Fatty foods and smoked foods are also prohibited, as well as alcoholic drinks. Lovers of instant coffee should switch to natural coffee, limiting its consumption to 1-2 cups per day.

Moderate physical activity will prolong the effect of ozone therapy - morning exercises should include special exercises that increase blood circulation in risk areas.

What effect do we get?

Immediately after ozone therapy for losing belly fat, there will be no noticeable results. You need to take a whole course to evaluate the lipolytic effect.

But if the patient follows the cosmetologist’s recommendations regarding the number of procedures, post-procedure care, etc., then a very pleasant result awaits her.

Many note that the skin becomes smoother after just 3 sessions. By the end of the course, the volume of the problem area is noticeably reduced.

At the same time, women claim that the skin does not sag at all due to the rapid loss of adipose tissue. On the contrary, the tone and elasticity of the epidermis increases.

Another area of influence

The procedure can become a real panacea for people actively struggling with excess weight and its side buddy - cellulite. The work is being carried out in several directions, and therefore the result will not be long in coming. Ozone partially breaks down fats and at the same time makes them less persistent and strong. They will go away faster if you accompany the course of procedures with sports or diet. After the sessions, the overall metabolism accelerates and the body is effectively cleansed of toxins. Superficial injections trigger metabolism and destroy the fibrous membranes of fat cells. These are exactly the same tubercles that form cellulite. The method itself will not give a 100% effect, but it is ideal as an addition to surgical liposuction or a course of anti-cellulite massage. After ozone therapy, the skin is tightened, body contours are clear, and there are no sagging areas.

Does it hurt?

Although any injection is a minimally invasive intervention, it still violates the integrity of the skin, which means that there will be discomfort in any case.

During the administration of the drug, a painful bursting sensation is observed in the treated area, but it passes quickly enough. If the patient has high pain sensitivity, then first use a cream with an anesthetic in the composition.

After the procedure, you should not be afraid of redness, local hyperthermia, or swelling of the tissues - this is a completely adequate reaction of the body to the administered drug. Usually after 2 days all such manifestations completely disappear.

In some cases, small hematomas are possible if the amount of work was large enough.

Dermatologist Sean Allen

If the inflammatory process increases, the pain becomes throbbing, then you need to inform a cosmetologist about this and consult a doctor. Perhaps the technique for administering the drug was violated, and sanitary and hygienic requirements were not met during the process.

Advantages and disadvantages of treatment

Advantages of anti-cellulite therapy with medical ozone:

  • The method is low-traumatic and, unlike surgical intervention, is not associated with a long rehabilitation period (the effect is no less pronounced);
  • Sessions take only 20-30 minutes;
  • Diet, regular exercise, and skin care “preserve” the effect of ozone therapy lasts up to 3 years.

Disadvantages of the procedure:

  • After the introduction of ozone under the skin, unpleasant sensations may occur - burning, tingling (lasting from a couple of minutes to several hours), many patients complain of headaches;
  • The therapy does not demonstrate an immediate effect, the first results are noticeable only after 3-4 sessions;
  • The use of medical ozone is associated with a large number of contraindications and side effects (migraines, nausea, vomiting, hematomas).

Reviews

As an example, we have collected a selection of photographs and several reviews by which you can evaluate the effectiveness of ozone therapy.

Veronica, 38 years old, Yaroslavl, Russia:

“Exercising and dieting have long ceased to help in the fight against cellulite. To remove it, I underwent 7 ozone therapy procedures. I really liked the result, it is not perfect, but very worthy. Now I can calmly go to the beach.”

Irina, 35 years old, Ryazan, Russia:

“Ozone therapy is not the most pleasant procedure.
They numbed my skin, but after the procedure there was still redness and pain. After a few days they passed and I had to go through the procedure again. I steadfastly completed the course of 10 sessions.
The result exceeded all expectations. Although it was not easy for me to get it, I am very happy - my skin became perfectly smooth.”

Reviews about the procedure: does it help or not?

Ozone therapy in cosmetology is very popular, but the technique is characterized by not only positive, but also negative reviews. Let's take a look at the most famous negative opinions of patients and specialists.

Short-term effect

Normalization of metabolism in a specific area after injections lasts relatively short time; after just a few months, without additional measures aimed at maintaining the effect, the result obtained will be reduced to zero or even worsened.

Value for money

Another important point: results for six months are quite expensive. Liposuction with ozone is carried out in stages. The minimum number of necessary procedures is ten, in some cases it can reach twice that number. As a result, the patient has to spend amounts commensurate with those required for plastic surgery with a permanent effect.

Narrow range of indications

Unfortunately, losing weight with ozone has a rather limited list of indications. This procedure may not be suitable for you if you are overweight or have fat deposits. Its effect is optimal for local, moderate fat layers.

Ozone therapy procedure in the abdominal area

Individual characteristics

Many reviews contain information that expectations did not coincide with reality; the resulting effect, although present, was very insignificant. This phenomenon is explained by the individual characteristics of the body, as well as the degree of complexity of the original problem.

As you can see, ozone therapy in cosmetology does not always give positive reviews, however, like any other procedure.

Expert opinion

  • Cosmetologist
  • Surgeon

Anna Avaliani

practicing cosmetologist

If a moderate dose of ozone is used, then it is really possible to destroy fat cells without harming the body. But as soon as you increase the dosage, you may encounter intoxication. Even doctors argue about the pros and cons of the technique. Remember that it must be performed by a good doctor. This way you will not encounter complications.

Aisha Baron

plastic surgeon

To avoid harming your body and avoid side effects, go to trusted clinics.
There must be appropriate conditions. It is recommended to do ozone therapy on an empty stomach. And below is a video where dermatologist Maria Trifonova talks about a procedure that really helps get rid of cellulite.

You can evaluate the results of ozone therapy for losing belly fat on the Internet, where you can find many reviews and before and after photos.

You can also ask your cosmetologist about the effect. Perhaps he has a portfolio with examples that clearly show how the skin looked before and after the manipulation.

Cost of the procedure

The cost of one procedure for one zone ranges from 500 to 4500 rubles, on average 2000 rubles. Considering that a course of therapy requires about 12 procedures, its cost will be approximately 20,000 rubles. Of course, the cost depends on the status of the clinic offering ozone therapy services.

Comments

  • Valentincha | 2015-12-09 15:25:23 I have tried a lot of methods to combat cellulite in my time. Sports and nutrition are great, but such measures prevent the development of new cellulite, but unfortunately they do not fight the old one. I went to all sorts of massages, and paid a lot of money for the sessions, because all this was done in courses of 10-15 procedures. I’m generally silent about creams and wraps; I myself understood that they wouldn’t help, but in a state of despair I tried all this on myself. When I found out about ozone therapy, I decided that this would be my last experiment, it wouldn’t help, and I wouldn’t do anything else. But I was specifically surprised when, after the fifth procedure, my scab began to smooth out on my thighs and butt! Now in a week I will go to take the second course, I think that after it I will get rid of the orange on my legs forever!
