Application of wheat germ oil for the face: against wrinkles, against acne, for nourishing and rejuvenating the skin

Wheat germ oil for the face is one of the most common natural cosmetics. It is made from sprouted wheat grains using the cold pressing method. It is after the appearance of the sprout that the grains contain the highest concentration of beneficial vitamins, minerals and microelements, which were intended by nature for the future plant. This explains the extraordinary benefits of wheat germ oil for the face.

General and characteristics

The germ is the basis of wheat grains - the kernel. All the vital resources of future spikelets are concentrated in them. The raw materials from which oil is made are an invaluable storehouse of useful components. It is unlikely that many natural remedies can boast the same rich composition as germs: 12 vitamins, 18 amino acids and 21 microelements. As the culture grows, the amount and concentration of these substances decreases, but the carbohydrate content increases.

It is at this stage that wheat can bring maximum benefits to the body. Compared to ripe grains, germs contain more calcium (1.5–2.5 times), potassium (2.5–5 times) and B vitamins (3–4 times). Natural oil from wheat kernels is extracted by cold pressing (pressing) the grains, which consist of 7–14% thick oily liquid.

To obtain 250 ml of the finished product, you need to process about 1 ton of raw materials.

The resulting extract from wheat germ has a thick consistency, golden yellow color, rich herbaceous aroma and unique taste. This oil is actively used in cosmetology as a base oil. This means that the nutritious liquid is suitable for use in its pure form, for preparing various homemade creams, masks, lotions and balms, and for enriching finished body care products.

Advice. The healthiest oil is unrefined. It can be cosmetic or food. Look for the appropriate instructions on the bottle, packaging, and instructions.

Use for therapeutic and prophylactic purposes

  • cleansing the body of toxins and other harmful substances;

For all preventive or therapeutic purposes, the oil is used no more than 2 teaspoons and no more than 2 times a day. When treating not very deep burns, the affected area is lubricated with a slightly warmed product. For bruises or sprains, massage the affected areas using warm wheat germ oil.

The oil is very useful for people with gastrointestinal problems:

  • To prevent gastritis, it is enough to consume a teaspoon of oil in the morning on an empty stomach.
  • Taking sprouted wheat extract is also beneficial for bodybuilding athletes. Taking 2 tablespoons of oil per day helps increase the body's tolerance to increased stress.

Vitamins (A, D, group B) and microelements (copper, sulfur, manganese, iron, potassium, iodine, etc.) do a lot of good for the beauty and health of the skin.

These substances activate the regeneration of the dermis and the production of collagen, elastin, help narrow pores, have a disinfecting effect, help fight acne, and enhance the protective functions of the skin. Where to buy and how to store

The oil is sold in pharmacies and stores selling natural, organic products, including those intended for food. You can also make a purchase via the Internet. Wheat germ extract will cost you an approximate amount of 40 to 860 rubles.

The price is affected by the volume of the bottle. The most common packaging is 100 ml, but you can also buy 25, 30, 50 ml. The product, intended for culinary purposes, is also sold in containers of 250 and 350 ml.

The difference in cost is also due to the brand. Wheat germ oil is produced by Mirolla, Botanika, Elfarma and other manufacturers. Their products fall into the category of budget pharmacy products sold without a prescription.

Usually the oil is poured into glass bottles made of dark or light glass. In the first case, you don’t have to worry about ultraviolet rays affecting the oil. But a transparent glass container allows you to evaluate the color of the oily liquid. If you see sediment in it, this is not a sign that the oil has gone bad, since the product may form a small suspension.

When purchasing, pay attention to the expiration date information. Due to its properties, the hermetically sealed cosmetic extract from wheat germ does not deteriorate at temperatures up to +25 °C for three years. Once opened, it is best to keep it in a dark, cool place and use it within 3–6 months. Edible oil has a shorter shelf life - up to a year, and after opening the bottle - about 1 month, and only in the refrigerator.

You can buy wheat germ oil in capsule form at the pharmacy. The cost of a package (60 pcs.) is approximately 100 rubles. This is a dietary supplement that affects the body from the inside.

Rules of application

Wheat germ oil is widely used in home cosmetology and is often included in ready-made products, including professional ones. This only confirms its high efficiency.

In addition, it is a hypoallergenic oil. But, due to the high content of biologically active substances, it is better for people with sensitive skin to do a preliminary tolerance test.

To get maximum results from the product, it is important to know the basic rules for its use:

  • In its pure form, it is advisable to apply it only to very dry and severely irritated skin, pointwise or locally.
  • For problem areas, it is allowed to use only in the absence of ulcers and active inflammatory processes.
  • Do not apply wheat germ oil directly to open wounds, cracks and ulcers, or use it for wet eczema.
  • After peelings and other aggressive procedures, its use is allowed after the active recovery stage, when the crusts have already begun to come off or peeling has appeared.
  • The oil works better if it is warmed to body temperature before use - this way the active substances can penetrate deeper.
  • When used for massage, it can be heated in a water bath even to a temperature of 40-45 ° C, but not higher, so as not to destroy the beneficial substances.
  • The product mixes well with other natural and essential oils, but it is better to do this immediately before use in small quantities.
  • When in contact with metal, its beneficial properties sharply decrease, so it is better to use glass or plastic containers and wooden or plastic spoons (spatulas) for preparing masks.
  • Germ oil is afraid of sunlight and contact with air. It should be stored in a tightly sealed bottle, in a closed cabinet, at a temperature of no more than 25°C.
  • After opening the bottle, its shelf life is sharply reduced and it is better to use the contents within a maximum of 2-3 months.

And I’ll say a few words about the purchase. This is one of the few oils that can be safely ordered online. There are very few fakes, since the cost of the product is low. But still, do not forget to pay attention to the expiration date and ask to see a quality certificate. It can also be purchased at health food stores or pharmacies.

Recommendations for use

Before anointing your face with healthy wheat germ oil, make sure you are not allergic. Distribute a little product over the delicate skin of the wrist or on the inner bend of the elbow. Wait 15–20 minutes.

For greater confidence, it is worth observing the treated area for about 12 hours. Individual intolerance can manifest itself in the form of an allergic reaction: itching, peeling, redness, etc.

If there are no symptoms, use the remedy for your health. The main thing is to exercise moderation. For example, do not make masks with oil more than 1-2 times a week. For oily skin, it is worth doing a 10-day interval. After 8–15 procedures a break will be required. Don't neglect this rule.

Wheat germ oil will penetrate the skin better if you first hold it in a water bath. It is important to ensure that the liquid does not heat above 60 °C, otherwise it will lose some of its beneficial properties. To prepare homemade masks, take a glass, ceramic, or porcelain container. Mix all ingredients with a wooden or any other spatula, but avoid using metal utensils. Do not leave the oil on overnight. The optimal duration of a home session is 20–30 minutes.

Advice. Pre-cleanse the skin and spread a thin layer of oil or a combination product (mask, cream, etc.) over it.

Folk recipes

Everyone makes masks at home. Some less often, some more often. But no, not a single woman who would not be involved in this exciting and creative activity.

For sagging aging skin, it is advisable to select ingredients that will refresh and tighten the skin.

Mask with basil and oatmeal . Basil tones and has a refreshing effect. Relieves swelling and inflammation. Oatmeal nourishes with vitamins and tightens pores. Germ oil regenerates cells.

Grind a small bunch of basil until mushy, add oatmeal (crush the flakes) and a tablespoon of wheat oil. Mix everything well and apply to clean skin. Keep the mask on for 20 minutes. Use two or three times a week. You can use essential oil instead of fresh basil.

If the skin is oily, it has a gray color. She is susceptible to various rashes, her pores are enlarged, which means we will prepare a mask using antiseptic and anti-inflammatory agents.

Mask with essential oils of bergamot and orange . Bergamot normalizes the functioning of the sebaceous glands, increases tone, and eliminates the inflammatory process. Orange removes toxins, whitens, and gives freshness. Take ten tablespoons of wheat germ oil, add 15 drops of orange and bergamot essential oil.

Place the mixture in a dark glass bottle with a tight lid. Apply the resulting mixture to your face using a tampon. Massage lightly and leave for 20 minutes. We wash it off. Use daily until the mask runs out. By this time, the pores will narrow. The skin will acquire a healthy appearance, the functioning of the sebaceous glands will be restored. Inflammatory processes will pass.

To smooth out wrinkles and improve skin tone, we prepare a mask to stimulate cell regeneration, enhance metabolism, and collagen production.

Mask with yeast and honey . Yeast (raw!) 10g, warm water ¼ cup, 1 tsp honey, 2 tablespoons rye flour, mix and let double in volume. Add warm wheat germ oil (1 tsp). Apply the mixture to your face with a wide brush and leave for 20 minutes.

Yeast is living organisms; if it gets on your face, it continues to live and develop. They need food to survive. It is obtained by yeast by cleansing the pores of the skin, allowing oxygen to penetrate into the deeper layers. Honey and oil, being vitamin storehouses, nourish and stimulate the skin, the cells begin to work and produce collagen more actively.

Skin that is dry, prone to peeling or tired after winter low temperatures and winds responds well to nourishing masks. For them, they choose products that have powerful potential.

Mask with egg yolk, honey and wheat germ oil. The yolk comes first in terms of the amount of vitamins, microelements and amino acids. It, just like the wheat germ, contains everything necessary for further development. And the benefits of honey have been discussed more than once.

Together they have a powerful effect on the skin. Nourish and moisturize, saturate with oxygen. The mask is prepared immediately before application.

The yolk is separated from the white and beaten with a teaspoon of honey using a fork. Warm (not hot!) oil, 1 tsp. added to the mixture. It is advisable to steam your face before use. The pores will open and nutrients will penetrate deeper into the skin. Leave it on for 20 minutes and wash it off. The mask can be done every other day, a course of 20 masks.

If you use cosmetics every day, your skin gradually becomes dull, its color deteriorates, and you feel a constant feeling of tightness. To get it in order, you need moisturizing masks.

Mask with carrots and cottage cheese. Grate the carrots on the finest grater, add two tablespoons of full-fat cottage cheese and a teaspoon of wheat germ oil. Lightly whisk everything together and apply to clean skin. Keep for 20-25 minutes.

Mask with cucumbers and cream. Finely grate the cucumber, add 3 tablespoons of heavy cream and 1 teaspoon of sprout oil. Mix everything well. The mask not only moisturizes, but also whitens the skin. Keep the mask for 20 minutes, rinse with warm water.

Fruit and berry mask with germ oil. Any fruit or berries are suitable for the mask; you can use them together. Take a banana, turn it into a paste with a fork, add sea buckthorn berries and chop the same. Add a tablespoon of wheat germ oil to this mixture, beat everything with a fork for a couple of minutes. Apply the mixture to a clean face. Leave it on for 25 minutes and wash it off.

Moisturizing masks are made regularly, in courses of 15-20 pieces. You can alternate them. It is very useful after washing off the mask to wipe it with ice from a fruit or herbal decoction.

Methods of application

In its pure form, this oil is rarely used because of its thick, dense, even slightly heavy consistency. The exception is certain small areas of the skin, for example, where there is peeling, signs of inflammation or rough areas. Also, wheat germ extract is locally distributed over the nasolabial fold, facial wrinkles in the corners of the eyes and on the forehead, over chapped lips, etc.

You can use the pure extract to remove makeup. In other cases, the oil is combined with analogues, esters, and other components of homemade masks, creams, and lotions that are “lighter” in structure.

For every 12–15 ml of wheat germ base product, take 2–3 drops of essential oily liquid.

For facial skin

The easiest way to use pure oil is as a skin cleanser. Soak a cotton swab in warm water and squeeze it out lightly. Drop a little natural wheat germ product and gently wipe the skin, moving along the massage lines. Further care is traditional.

It is also useful to prepare a natural mask with other oils. If you have dry, flabby, wrinkled or beginning to fade dermis, dilute the wheat extract with almond, apricot, olive or peach extract. Proportions - 1:3 or 1:4. Also add 1 drop of orange, mint, rose or sandalwood ester to this mixture.

For oily, problematic type of dermis, the healing composition will be different. Wheat germ concentrate is combined with grape seed oil (1:3). If, in addition to everything else, you are concerned about acne, add lavender, clove or cedar ether (2 drops) as the third ingredient.

Any of these compositions can replace a night cream or mask. In the second case, you will need a small gauze pad. Soak it in the healing composition and apply it to your face. Session duration is 20–30 minutes.

Other options for preparing homemade skin care products based on wheat extract:

  1. Lightening of age spots, freckles . To 1 tbsp. l. of cereal germ oils, add 1 drop each of lemon, bergamot, grapefruit or juniper esters. Soak a piece of gauze in the aromatic liquid and apply it to your face for 20–30 minutes. Pay special attention to areas with a lot of freckles or age spots. It is advisable to repeat the procedure twice a day.
  2. Lifting effect . Combine wheat and palm oils in equal proportions (each ingredient will require 1 tablespoon). Heat slightly in a water bath. Mix a spoonful of rice flour with freshly brewed green tea to get the consistency of thick sour cream. Achieve a uniform structure, without lumps. Add the oily component to the rice-tea mixture and stir. Spread a thick layer over your face. After 15-30 minutes, rinse with cool water and moisturize the epidermis with night cream.

Beat in a chicken egg there, and then add a mixture of wheat and sea buckthorn oils (take 1 tablespoon each). Spread the mixture over your face using a spatula, avoiding the lips and skin around the eyes. Wait until the clay becomes hard, carefully remove the mask and wash with cool water.
  5. Smoothing wrinkles and moisturizing dry skin . This recipe will yield a cream that can be stored in the refrigerator for a maximum of 1 week. Prepare the base: mix wheat germ (25 ml), argan (3 ml), grape seed and avocado oils (5 ml each) in a porcelain container. Pour in 10 drops of vitamin E oil solution and 7 drops of frankincense ether. Separately, melt the beeswax (3 g) and add it drop by drop to the fatty mixture, which at this time whisk vigorously. Pour into a jar with a tight-fitting lid and use as a night cream.
  6. Improving complexion and eliminating peeling . Dilute a spoonful of wheat flour to a thick consistency with still mineral water. Heat a mixture of two oils in a water bath: grape seed and cereal germ. Take approximately 1 tsp. each ingredient. Combine all the components of the mask and apply warm to the skin of the face.
  7. Eliminates oily shine and tightens pores . In a 1:3 ratio, mix oily wheat extract with grape seed oil. Heat slightly in a water bath. Add 1 tsp. fresh lemon juice, as well as a couple of drops of lemon ether. Using a cotton pad, apply the mask to your face. After 15–20 minutes, remove the remaining mixture and wipe the skin with an ice cube.
  8. Moisturizing dry dermis . This recipe will help: 1 tbsp. l. dilute oatmeal with warm water to a thick cream. Pour in 2 tsp. almond and wheat germ oils.
  9. Rejuvenates oily skin, smoothes wrinkles and cleanses pores . Crush 1-2 tablets of ascorutin into powder. Add 1 tsp. white, yellow, blue or pink cosmetic clay and wheat oil slightly heated in a water bath. Let the mixture sit for 5 minutes and then spread it over your previously cleansed face. After 15 minutes, wash with warm water.
  10. Fighting acne . This mask does not have a strict recipe. You can combine the ingredients you like. The base will be 1 tbsp. l. extracts from wheat shoots. Add 1-2 oils to it, choosing from the following options: jojoba, burdock, castor, flaxseed, coconut, sea buckthorn. You need to take no more than 1 tsp of any ingredient. Pour in 3-4 drops of lavender, juniper, tea tree or rosemary ether. If your skin is oily, also add 1 tsp. lemon juice and white clay. Oily components should be heated in a water bath. The mask is applied to the skin for 15–20 minutes.
  11. Smoothing out wrinkles . The product is suitable for reducing the severity of folds in the nasolabial area, between the eyebrows, on the forehead, and in the corners of the eyes. To carry out the procedure, take a piece of gauze folded several times. Soak it in the liquid prepared according to one of the recipes and apply it to the required areas. Cover with parchment paper, then with a terry towel. Leave until absorbed. Options for nutritional mixtures:
  • 5 ml olive oil + 2 ml wheat germ extract + 3 drops rosemary ether;
  • 5 ml of base wheat component + 2 ml of jojoba + 3 drops of neroli;
  • three types of oils - avocado (2 ml), almond (3 ml), wheat germ (3 ml) combined with rose and lavender esters (1 drop each).

By the way. Wheat extract is used for massage after bath procedures, combining it in a 1:1 or 1:2 ratio with peach, apricot, sesame, olive, almond or jojoba oil. Add 4-5 drops of grapefruit, tangerine, orange esters or 1 drop of oily extracts of lemon, fennel, juniper, geranium to the mixture.

For the eyelids and area around the eyes

Rejuvenation of these areas requires special means. It is not recommended to use pure wheat concentrate on the delicate skin around the eyes. Dilute it with rosehip oil (proportions - 1:3), and also pour in 1 drop of neroli, sandalwood or rose ether. Use the mixture for aging skin around the eyes, where wrinkles are noticeable.

There are other recipes:

  1. Against crow's feet . This mask nourishes and moisturizes the delicate epidermis, thereby slightly smoothing out fine wrinkles that have already appeared and preventing the formation of new folds. Express lip care product - dilute 1 tsp. wheat oil with a similar amount of peach oil. Soak a cloth in this mixture and apply to the sponges for 15 minutes. If desired, you can add 0.5 tsp. honey

In order not to harm the skin, remember the basic rules for the safe use of a natural product:

Rules for using oil

Wheat germ oil will bring the greatest benefit to aging skin that needs powerful support to resist the aging process. It will help her delay the appearance of new wrinkles and make old ones less noticeable, return a healthy color to her face, increase elasticity, and together with a massage it will also help tighten her contours.

But the scope of the magic oil does not end there. It effectively cleanses problematic skin from acne, age spots and irritations, and makes the manifestations of rosacea less noticeable; oily skin gets rid of enlarged pores and unpleasant shine; dry provides high-quality hydration and protects against flaking; normal helps to stay in great shape. In addition, masks made from wheat germ oil often become an important part of the treatment of psoriasis, eczema, dermatitis and other skin diseases. True, you should prescribe them to yourself only after consulting a doctor.

A bottle of oil and sprouted grains

You need to know how to use oil

Before moving on to specific recipes for masks and applications, let’s take a couple of minutes to follow the rules of skin care using oils. Compliance with them will not require serious effort from you, but it will allow you to avoid many mistakes that beginners so often make. So remember:

  • if you are dealing with oil for the first time, before adding it to masks and creams, apply a few drops to the skin of your wrist and observe the reaction - whether itching or redness appears;
  • Before each cosmetic procedure, pour the portion of oil you need into a separate bowl and heat it in a water bath to a temperature that is pleasant for the skin - this way the effect of the active substances will be more fully manifested;
  • for better results, it is worth warming up the skin by placing a towel soaked in hot water on your face for a minute or two;
  • do not apply oil to areas with scratches, burns or other damage;
  • do not resort to oil skin care immediately after serious salon procedures such as chemical peeling;
  • do not use metal utensils. Only glass, ceramics, wood or, at worst, plastic.

How often can you give your skin a “rendezvous” with wheat germ oil?

Dry - 1-2 times a week,

Normal - once every 7 days,

Oily - no more than once every 10-12 days.

The standard course is 8-12 masks, after which the bottle of golden liquid will need to be temporarily put on the far shelf of your cosmetic cabinet and focus on other personal care products.
