Salt peeling for hair - beneficial properties and recipe

Salt peeling for hair - beneficial properties

Despite the fact that we take care of our hair almost every day, dust, grease, dirt, and remnants of styling products and shampoo constantly settle on our scalp.

As a result of all this, the skin pores close, it does not breathe, the hair roots do not have enough oxygen, they grow slower, the skin itches, itches, dandruff appears, hair oiliness and hair loss increase.

To prevent all this from happening, it is enough to do a simple home scalp peeling procedure once a week using an ordinary skin and hair scrub.

It can be purchased in stores, or you can make it yourself at home.

I want to share with you information on how to make a salt scrub for your scalp and hair at home, but first, a little theory...

What are the benefits of salt for scalp health?

Salt is an affordable and popular product. It's no secret that it not only serves as an addition to dishes, but is also used in various beauty care procedures. Our great-grandmothers also used this excellent remedy.

Salt is included in many cosmetic products. It is especially useful for hair growth.

How salt peeling helps for hair:

  • cleanses;
  • gives a feeling of freshness;
  • strengthens;
  • stimulates growth.

All this is possible due to the fact that salt has the ability to eliminate keratinized particles and activate blood supply. Blood begins to flow to the hair, resulting in improved nutrition and oxygen saturation. As a result, hair grows faster and the hairstyle looks healthy.

Salt has other benefits as well.

The process of cleansing from dead particles leads to the prevention and treatment of various skin pathologies.

As a result of such measures, dandruff is treated, which occurs quite often in people, especially with oily hair and seborrhea.

Among other things, peeling can effectively dry the skin and provide it with antibacterial properties.

Constant exfoliation of the scalp helps:

  • restoration of the skin;
  • stimulation of metabolism;
  • activation of fat metabolism;
  • restoration of the functionality of the sebaceous glands;
  • reducing inflammation;
  • increasing the tone and healing of the skin;
  • relieving burning and other discomfort.

After peeling, the influence of other beneficial components is actively noted. This measure is usually used in preparation for other measures aimed at hair regeneration.

Which salt is best to choose for making hair scrub?

When treating hair with peeling, the effect is caused by abrasive particles of the product. Hand movements should be massage.

To avoid damage to the epidermis, you should choose the finest salt. If the granules are quite large, they should be crushed.

Of all the types of miracle products of nature, sea salt is considered the most effective.

It is saturated with a huge number of useful components and is suitable not only for cleaning, but also provides high-quality nutrition.

In addition, the product restores the skin-fat balance. Due to it, it is possible to change the condition of the hair and stop the process of hair loss.

In the absence of sea salt, plain salt, which every home has, will do. Even with its help you can carry out perfect peeling.

However, if you want to achieve good results, you still need to choose sea salt.

Which is better to choose?

When performing salt peeling, the abrasive properties of salt are used. It is used for the scalp. To avoid scratching it, you need to use fine salt. You can use a coffee grinder to grind.

Sea salt has the most healing effect. This indicates its rich composition, including many microelements. Therefore, salt peeling is useful to nourish the scalp. It also helps improve skin-fat balance. Salt eliminates the problem of hair loss.

Instead of sea salt, you can use iodized salt. Rock salt will do - although the effect in this case will not be the same, it will still be therapeutic.

Effective recipes for homemade hair scrubs and peelings

There are many recipes that can be made at home.

  • The first of them is quite simple and no less effective. It consists of intensively massaging the damp scalp with fine salt for ten minutes.
  • The second recipe involves mixing several tablespoons (from two to five) with a minimum volume of liquid. The resulting mixture is used in exactly the same way as in the first case.

But with this recipe, the salt dissolves very quickly, due to which the exposure time is significantly limited and the therapeutic effect is reduced. In many recipes, instead of water, it is advised to add a little balm and essential oils.

Which oil to choose depends on your hair type and the current problem:

  • for baldness, it is recommended to use pine oil, ylang-ylang;
  • for oily hair use lemon balm oil;
  • Lavender oil is useful for dandruff.

Scrub based on soda and salt

Some recipes recommend additionally using a soda-based mixture. This product effectively disinfects and softens the head. Take salt and soda in equal proportions and dilute them with water until you obtain a paste-like mixture.

Scrub based on salt and kefir

To further nourish your hair, it is recommended to use a mixture of salt and kefir. To prepare such a scrub, you need to take the same amount of substances. During the rinsing process, it is necessary to ensure that the water is not too hot.

Dry skin

This type is characterized by a lack of moisture in the upper layers of the dermis, which is why it quickly loses its elasticity and the first wrinkles appear. Therefore, it must not only be cleansed of dead cells, but also nourished and moisturized.

To prepare a scrub for dry skin, you need to take a tablespoon of finely ground salt and add half a teaspoon of olive oil and sour cream to it. Mix the mixture thoroughly and apply it to the face in a circular motion, massaging it. The area around the eyes and mouth should not be touched; the skin there is very delicate and irritation may occur.

The procedure should not take more than 3 minutes. Then rinse everything off and lubricate the skin with nourishing cream.

If you want to use sea salt for peeling, and the particles are very large, you need to grind it in a coffee grinder.

Salt peeling for hair - Features

The procedure consists of several steps:

  • First, you should use shampoo to keep your hair clean. Then balm or oil is applied along the entire length to protect the hair from drying out during treatment.
  • On a clean head, apply the product gently onto the head in small doses.
  • This should be done with rotating movements with your fingers. This way you can gradually treat your entire head.
  • The resulting mixture remains for another ten minutes, then the head is washed thoroughly with shampoo.
  • At the end of the event, apply the balm to your head.

Be prepared for the fact that in the process of all these actions you will lose a certain amount of hair. This is quite normal. New hair will soon appear in place of weakened hair.

The scalp procedure is carried out once every seven days. In total, you need about eight treatments.

You can repeat the course in a couple of months.

It is also worth emphasizing that this anti-peeling effect is only possible when used on an oily scalp. It makes no sense to use such measures on dry and thin hair. It is better to choose other cosmetic procedures for them.

Homemade hair and scalp scrub - recipe

You can whip up such a scrub using the simplest products: sea salt or brown sugar and olive oil.

The grain of sugar or salt helps exfoliate dead skin particles from the scalp, removing all buildup and dirt.

You can add a couple of drops of essential oil, such as rosemary oil, to this mixture. I experimented a little and came up with a recipe for my own scalp scrub.

Recipe:

  • Mixed 1 tbsp sea buckthorn oil, 1 tbsp. l coffee grounds and 0.5 tsp fine sea salt,
  • I added a couple drops of rosemary, orange and lavender essential oils.
  • I mixed and thoroughly rubbed this mixture into the wet scalp with massage movements, left for 5 minutes and rinsed with shampoo.

It was not very difficult to wash it off, easier than oil masks.

Sea buckthorn oil perfectly enriches and softens the skin, salt softens hard crusts well, renews the skin, and essential oils increase blood circulation in the scalp, nourish the roots and strengthen them.

Salt peeling for hair - a recipe from a trichologist

And I found one more recipe, which I also want to share, in the book of trichologist R. Gofshtein.

For me, this remedy seemed like an explosive mixture and I haven’t decided to try this recipe yet. Perhaps over time, I will risk trusting the advice of this world-famous specialist.

Take 3 tbsp. l of vodka and dissolve 10 aspirin tablets, 2 tsp of your shampoo and 1 tsp of hot pepper in it.

The author recommends doing this procedure once a week, lightly rubbing it with a toothbrush along the hair growth lines, covering the entire scalp, and applying the remaining mixture to the ends of the hair.

Leave everything for 3-5 minutes and rinse thoroughly.

Be sure to include the scalp peeling procedure in your appearance care, and very soon you will notice how the condition of your hair improves.

In addition, any effective masks for hair growth are best done after exfoliating the scalp, then their benefits will increase many times over.

But, do not forget about contraindications.

How often to perform the procedure

On average, it is recommended to peel no more than once every 7-10 days. For oily skin, the number of sessions can be increased to 2 times a week. But those with dry or sensitive skin should reduce the number of procedures to once a month.

Of course, first of all, you should focus on your well-being and the condition of your skin.
