Cosmetologist Sergei Barsukov: It’s time for women to get off the needle!

Cosmetologist Sergei Barsukov: It’s time for women to get off the needle!Sergei Barsukov For the Moscow elite, he is a well-known and even significant person. After all, it is to him that social divas, artists and popular bloggers, advanced in the beauty industry, trust their appearance and health. Sergei Barsukov today is rightfully called the main beauty. After all, his unique techniques and individual approach could help many. Including those who have encountered “underground cosmetologists” and fake “beauty injections.” Who is protecting the counterfeit, what beauty trends disfigure the appearance, why do stars refuse injections and what secret procedures do they use to maintain their youth? We asked an expert, cosmetologist at the Romanov Beauty and Health Center Sergei Nikolaevich Barsukov.
— Recently, scandals have often occurred in the beauty industry that are associated with the incompetence of cosmetologists...

— To be honest, I don’t follow such scandals. But let’s immediately state that not every person in a white coat is a doctor!.. No one has canceled scammers and people who, after watching several videos on the Internet, suddenly began to consider themselves doctors. Thanks to social networks, huge communities of such underground cosmetologists have emerged. Why organizations called upon to protect patients do not respond to them truly surprises me. However, like people who go to have the procedure done by such specialists working in their homes. Indeed, in case of an allergy to the drug, they will not even be able to provide anti-shock therapy, and such a trip for beauty can result in death. I’m generally silent about sanitary standards and sterility. I understand that injecting the drug from such “underground cosmetologists” at home costs much less than in medical centers. I have heard stories that, in order to save money, women even go so far as to have such “cosmetologists” inject them with one syringe for two. For me personally, this is unacceptable. But to take risks or not is everyone’s choice.

— There are also fakes in clinics today... Give me some professional advice - how to recognize a fake “beauty injection” from its original product?

— The mistake of many women who become victims of the beauty industry is their laziness and irresponsibility. Indeed, today there are many establishments that call themselves clinics, and their employees, who do not have a medical education, wear a doctor’s robe to be convincing. But in this case it’s the surroundings. Attention should be paid not only to beautiful interiors. Therefore, initially you need to choose a clinic with a good reputation and be sure to check whether they have permission for this medical cosmetology activity. To provide services such as injection cosmetology, you must have an appropriate license. It usually hangs in the centers for public access. If this is not the case, the center’s employees are required to provide these documents upon first request. You can check the authenticity on the Internet. There are special sites for this. If difficulties arise with this, then doubts will creep in as to whether it is worth coming and using the services of these specialists. As for the drugs themselves, everything is much more complicated. After all, it is almost impossible to visually distinguish a fake from an original. They look very similar. But the composition and side effects that can be obtained after using a fake can be catastrophic. Therefore, only the medical center itself can protect you here. Clinics with medical licenses employ doctors with higher medical education and they will not contact dubious dealers of counterfeit products. Feel free to clarify the composition of the drug. If they start telling you that this is a company secret, turn around and leave! The ingredients are even written on cans of food and washing powders. By the way, today there are alternative methods that allow you to get beautiful skin and maintain youth without resorting to so-called “beauty injections.” It's just that not everyone knows about it. And many celebrities in Hollywood and in our country have already actively started using them. Europe is still on the ropes, but the Asian countries - Korea and Japan - have improved many of their beauty preservation rituals with the help of various laser technologies.

— Among your patients there are many actresses, politicians, and singers. In general, those for whom the face is a working tool. What procedures do celebrities most often undergo?

— They require effective procedures and without a rehabilitation period. Everyone wants to preserve their youth longer, so they work on the quality of their skin so as not to go under the surgeon’s scalpel for as long as possible. Each case is individual. They really like carbon peeling in combination with an LED lamp and treatments, and an oxygen pressure chamber. By the way, I managed to remove many of them from injections and transfer them to safer methods of self-care. Now technologies are being improved to ensure that everything is as effective as possible, painless, without side effects and without rehabilitation periods. In this regard, I like to work with hardware techniques. And not only with laser ones. Very effective techniques with focused ultrasound are emerging - ultraformer, as well as combined ones - when you can use both a laser and the ability of this laser to make the skin bioavailable and you can avoid injections. Injections in cosmetology have already passed the stage. Therefore, it’s time for women to get off the needle!.. But I note that the hardware method is based on the professionalism of the specialist and the apparatus. There is a lot of cheap counterfeit laser equipment on the market today. And this can end very badly for the patient.

— The counterfeit market in our country is thriving in all areas. Is this due to the fact that he is being protected at the state level? By the way, they say that counterfeit injections are sold by former employees of companies that are official manufacturers of the drugs...

— A dangerous question... (Laughs). I heard information about former employees in medical circles. But I can’t confirm this. Firstly, because among my friends and partners such “business relationships” are strictly prohibited. Secondly, I believe that law enforcement agencies and health-related organizations should provide such information, as well as hire such “dealers” for development. Although, we have some kind of strange fight against fakes and “false cosmetologists”. Now the screws are being tightened on institutions that are respectable and operate in accordance with medical standards. Moreover, sometimes one gets the impression that the area in which truly professional and talented cosmetologists, plastic surgeons and other beauty specialists work is being deliberately “cleaned up”... Perhaps in this way they are getting rid of serious competitors in order to ultimately monopolize the beauty industry.

- I agree with you - there is some kind of double standard policy...

— Knocking professionals out of this sphere feeds a huge layer of scammers and simply mentally ill people who buy “phony pieces of paper” and go to “treat” and disfigure people.

— Social networks are introducing a fashion for outrageous beauty - wavy eyebrows, cut off “lumps of bish” and also sunken cheeks... Now there is a new trend - “devil lips”... In your opinion, will it take root in our country? Is it possible to return my lips to normal after this?

Are devil lips a trend?

— Freak shows today are a way for many people to stand out. But in the end, these people suffering for their moment of glory still end up in a crowd of the same kind. Everyone has their own sense of beauty. Fortunately, the people I work with don't go to such extremes. As for these lips, photos with Photoshop are mostly circulating on the Internet with clear outlines of the edges. In real life I saw, to put it mildly, an unpleasant picture. But again, everyone has their own concept of beauty. Some people even like lips in the shape of a torn plastic bottle. Whether it is possible to return such lips to their previous state is a very controversial issue. And, by the way, today naturalness is still in fashion in the beauty industry. Almost all celebrities who once “pumped up” themselves with active “tuning” are now getting rid of it and paying quite a lot of money for it. Therefore, take care of your health and do not give in to fashion. After all, she is often ugly!..
