11 taboos when using peelings and scrubs that destroy the skin

Beautiful and simple Mushroom applique. Templates can be obtained for free. Details in my post here.

Summer has not canceled the beauty and feminine attractiveness. On the contrary, it gave us additional opportunities to take care of ourselves, although it made some adjustments to the usual care procedures. And we should know what peelings can be done in the summer? How to conduct them? For whom are these procedures safe? I will now try to answer these questions. And if there is anything left behind the scenes, be sure to add to the article in the comments! Agreed?

What is it and when should you use it with caution?

The desire to maintain youth and radiance of the skin is normal at any time of the year, both spring and summer. Moreover, we have all the necessary means for this. For example, a procedure such as exfoliation, or peeling, helps those who have various types of problems:

  • Scarring;
  • Pigmentation;
  • Flabbiness;
  • Ingrown hairs;
  • Inflammatory diseases;
  • Photoaging;
  • Enlarged pores;
  • Increased secretion of subcutaneous sebum;
  • Dullness.

Many people prefer to use special face masks at home, but these are more suitable as aids for maintaining skin tone and solving a small number of problems from the list. Such cleansing masks are sold in huge quantities. The main thing is to choose the right product based on your skin type and the problem that needs to be solved. But there is also professional peeling; it is done in the salon. It would be correct to use both methods of cleansing and eliminating deficiencies.

Is it possible to exfoliate in summer? Yes. Just take a few points into account:

  • Cleansing should be gentle. Superficial.
  • It is necessary to use protective equipment with a protection level of SPF 50 or higher.
  • 12 o'clock rule! At this time, you should not expose your skin to additional influences: no cosmetic products and you should not go outside.
  • Wash with purified water, foam, gels for sensitive skin.
  • Drink at least 2 liters of water per day.
  • Use minimally (or better yet completely eliminate) foundations, powder, etc.
  • You will have to temporarily avoid visiting bathhouses and solariums. And even postpone a trip to the sea.

If you have concerns, it is best to consult a dermatologist before getting a chemical peel. Do you sometimes find yourself with rashes, itching and redness after exfoliating? It will be useful to carefully study the composition; perhaps the mask contains an ingredient to which you are allergic. And it is best, knowing about allergies, to read the composition of the product before purchasing it.

Which peeling is not suitable for the summer season?

Any cleansing procedure in the summer should be as delicate as possible, so medium and deep peels are not suitable:

  • phenolic;
  • with a very high concentration of glycolic and salicylic acids;
  • Jessner peel.

In addition, it is necessary to abandon some superficial peelings, which you may do at home. Glycolic, salicylic and pyruvic acids consist of very small molecules that can penetrate far into the dermis and act quite aggressively.

What peelings are there?

There are two main directions for removing dead skin cells:

  • Chemical. Exposure to any compounds. Most often this is fruit peeling. An excellent solution for young skin and solves the problems of aging skin. Fights all types of rashes, avoids microtraumas, stimulates the production of elastane and collagen, and tightens pores. Suitable for different ages and skin types.
  • Mechanical. Polishing the face with scrubs containing solid particles.

Due to the fact that there are different cleaning methods, you can choose an individual peeling for everyone. I'll tell you about some ways.

Almond

Of all the types, this one is considered the simplest and safest.

Its action: tightens pores, evens out tone, removes small wrinkles, relieves inflammation. It is suitable for preparing for more complex types of exfoliation. Such as laser or chemical.

Advantage: suitable for all skin types and colors: dark, light, hypersensitive; has a minimal rehabilitation period.

Gas-liquid

Exposure of the skin to chilled saline solution and oxygen; vitamins are often added to the solution.

Action: removes scars, gets rid of superficial wrinkles, tightens pores, evens out facial tone, fights acne.

Advantage: not only cleanses, but also vitaminizes the skin, great for any time of year, including summer.

Carbon

This is laser cleaning using nanogel (oxygen amplifier)

Action: removes pigmentation, smoothes wrinkles, removes inflammation, evens out and refreshes complexion, tightens pores.

Advantage: tangible results after the first procedure, no recovery period, no redness, no discomfort.

Mesopeeling

Glycolic acid is injected under the skin.

Action: metabolic processes improve, skin quickly regenerates, copes with wrinkles, helps with inflammation.

Advantage: no superficial irritation, no rash, no redness, no peeling. This means there is no recovery period. And the result is visible immediately. But needles confuse me))) What about you?

Lactic

I would call this method stress-free. The skin is easily cleansed and at the same time softened.

Action: eliminates fine wrinkles, gives elasticity to the skin, refreshes tone, eliminates pigmentation, grayness and dullness, eliminates dryness, improves blood circulation.

Advantage: short recovery period, can be done at home, suitable for all skin types.

You can make some fruit peelers yourself. But it's better to trust the professionals

Peels you can do in summer

July 18, 2020

A procedure such as chemical peeling has always been considered aggressive for the skin. Cosmetologists did not perform it on patients during periods of active sun, so as not to provoke increased pigmentation and new wrinkles. But with the advent of improved cosmetic compositions that work exclusively in the deep layers of the epidermis and do not damage the surface of the skin, the situation with seasonality has changed dramatically.

Now some acid peels are specifically prescribed in the summer; they help maintain freshness, youth and optimal hydration of the skin. Cosmetologist-esthetician Elena Monakhova talks about them:

— The ideal summer peeling is the one after which there is no rehabilitation period, and there is no irritation or peeling on the skin. Therefore, the first on the list PRXT 33 , based on trichloroacetic acid. In fact, in a high percentage, this acid has always been considered harsh, but in this composition it contains only 33% - quite enough to penetrate inside and thoroughly “stir up” fibroblasts, stimulate regeneration, moisturize the skin and work with its quality. PRXT is additionally enhanced with hydrogen peroxide (it works as an antiseptic here, helping to neutralize peeling on the surface of the skin) and kojic acid, which fights pigmentation.

Like any other type of peeling, PRXT 33 is a course procedure. The number of sessions depends on the age of the patient and the problem that the specialist is trying to solve. People under 30 years old are usually prescribed 3-4 procedures, from 35 years old - 3-5, and from 45 years old - the number of sessions can reach up to 12.

Glycolic peeling has the same gentle effect on the skin - it contains 70% low molecular weight glycolic acid, which has the super ability to penetrate deep into the epidermis. But unlike PRXT 33, glycolic peeling is considered purely age-related. Its main purpose is lifting. By starting the cell renewal process, it provides good skin tightening. This peeling is suitable for patients over 30 years of age who have already seen age-related changes on their face. Glycolic peeling is often combined with injection procedures, facial cleansing, and microcurrent therapy. The care program is always tailored individually.

For sensitive, capricious skin, we recommend 40% almond peeling - this is generally a win-win option, suitable for absolutely everyone! Mandelic acid is very soft, it begins to “get active” in the deep layers of the epidermis. However, this does not negate its effectiveness. It perfectly cleanses pores, brightens, gives the skin radiance, smoothness and slightly tightens it. After one session of almond peeling for 2-3 days, your face will look great. That is why we recommend doing this procedure before an important event.

is considered the easiest - it is suitable even for young skin of any type. By the way, this is the only peeling that can be applied close to the eyelash edge, which allows you to work with the delicate area under the eyes and remove small expression wrinkles. Lactic acid regulates skin moisture levels and has a slight brightening effect. If you have been over-tanning in the sun, then after two weeks you are welcome to undergo a procedure that will moisturize the skin and relieve peeling caused by insolation. We often combine milk peeling with moisturizing and nourishing masks - they complement the healing effect.

— What should home care be like after peelings?

“No matter how gentle the “summer peeling” may be, we still slightly injure the upper layer of the epidermis. This promotes moisture loss from the skin. Therefore, home care is very important. Preference should be given to creams with lipids. During the entire course, refrain from using scrubs. In addition, after a course of peelings, you should refrain from tanning for 2 weeks and use SPF protection during this time.

What can you do at home?

Products from iHerb always satisfy with their quality. And this is more important than ever when it comes to appearance and health. Therefore, relying on ratings and reviews, I can confidently recommend the following products:

Derma E, Cleansing Daily Detox Scrub.

For mechanical cleansing of the face in summer. The cooling sensation remains for another 10 minutes after washing. The scrub itself is a thick gray mass with particles of crushed apricot kernels. Polishes the skin carefully, does not scratch, but you can feel it working.

Derma E, Night Peel, Facial Exfoliator.

Suitable for long-term use, but the impact does not decrease, on the contrary, it increases. Provides the effect of smooth, tightened skin.

Mad Hippie Skin Care Products Ferulic Acid Serum.

Ferulic acid peeling can also be done even in summer. Cosmetologists call this peeling “summer peeling.” This serum also contains vitamin C, konjac root and hyaluronic acid. A must have indeed.

I wish you to find your remedy! And, of course, share the results! Friends, help your friends know about our site, tell them how to subscribe (and don’t forget to do it yourself). I welcome the active participation of everyone on my blog! Therefore, don’t be shy, tell us about yourself and your products that help you stay young and beautiful!

That's all! Bye bye!

What chemical peels can be done in summer?

The opinion that it is strictly forbidden to do any chemical peeling in the summer is completely wrong. The fact is that for those with thick, oily and porous skin, peelings must be carried out regularly, since this approach helps to maintain the condition and appearance of the skin constantly healthy, well-groomed and beautiful. In the summer, it is optimal to carry out light, gentle peelings with low concentration fruit acids, such as ferulic, lactic and almond peelings. But, in some cases, the patient may need more intensive peelings, such as Jessner peeling, glycolic peeling and others. Their use may be necessary if the patient has fresh scars, and they need to be corrected as soon as possible, regardless of the time of year. In this case, peeling can also be carried out, but after it the patient must limit his exposure to the street for some time and very intensively protect the skin from sunlight.

What not to do during exfoliation

Apply scrubs and peels to an unwashed face. Be sure to first treat the skin with your usual cleanser to remove external impurities.

Apply products with chaotic movements. There is a high risk of injuring delicate skin, overstretching it and causing premature wrinkles. To avoid harm, we apply scrubs and peels from the center of the face to the periphery, along the massage lines.

Use scrubs with rough, sharp particles. It's better to give them to the enemy! And choose a softer and more delicate option for yourself, so as not to injure the skin and cause inflammation.

Use exfoliating products every day. At this rate, you'll soon be polishing your skull! For oily skin, it is enough to use scrubs 1-2 times a week, and for dry skin, a maximum of a couple of times a month.
