Facial mesotherapy is one of the most popular techniques that allows you to hide age-related changes on a girl’s sensitive skin. It is performed not only on the entire surface of the face, but also on its individual zones, one of which is the eyelids. Mesotherapy around the eyes allows you to eliminate expression lines, dark circles and pigmentation that appear as a result of photoaging.
What is the essence of mesotherapy for the skin around the eyes?
Using aggressive cosmetic procedures that involve the use of a syringe to administer beneficial drugs in the eyelid area is quite dangerous, which is associated with the increased sensitivity of the epidermis in this area. Eye mesotherapy is a minimally invasive procedure aimed at eliminating many age-related changes.
Eyelid mesotherapy involves the use of a unit with a large number of thin needles. They penetrate the skin structure and contribute to the uniform introduction of a beneficial meso-cocktail, the composition of which is selected individually based on the desired result.
The drug, which is administered subcutaneously during the technology, fills all folds and wrinkles, and also activates natural metabolic processes in epithelial cells. Due to this, you can notice a lifting effect after your first visit to the salon.
Features of mesotherapy in the eye area
Mesotherapy is a cosmetic procedure of injection (more often) or needle-free (less often) introduction of vitamin cocktails into the middle layers of the epidermis. A cosmetologist can use homeopathic or pharmaceutical remedies, hyaluronic acid, and valuable minerals. The cocktails are administered pointwise using small needles; a puncture pattern is drawn up before the start of the procedure.
Mesotherapy is perhaps the most popular procedure for treating acne, post-acne, smoothing wrinkles, rejuvenation, and fighting cellulite.
The therapeutic effect is determined by two factors - the correct and necessarily individual selection of the cocktail, as well as the normal launch of the self-healing processes of the epidermis after microscopic punctures. Regeneration mechanisms are triggered when receptors begin to send nerve impulses from damaged areas. As a result, the growth of new cellular structures is stimulated, and the active production of elastin and collagen fibers begins.
Varieties
Regardless of where you are going to perform mesotherapy - at home or in the salon, pay attention to the choice of technology for introducing beneficial cocktails into the skin.
There are two methods:
- Injection. The classic version of mesotherapy, which has the highest efficiency. The drug is injected into the skin by puncturing it in many places.
- Non-injection. Most often used on sensitive, thin skin, which is easily damaged when performing injection mesotherapy. Here the drug is administered using special equipment that emits electromagnetic pulses.
When performing mesotherapy around the eyes, it is recommended to use non-injection technology, since it is less painful and does not injure the skin when administering meso-cocktails.

Drugs
When performing mesotherapy in the salon, a special meso-cocktail is used, which is selected by the master individually for each client.
Such a cocktail may include the following components:
- Hyaluronic acid;
- Vitamins;
- Phospholipids;
- Minerals;
- Organic acids;
- Plant and animal extracts;
- Oils.
All components of the meso cocktail are absolutely safe and non-toxic, so they can be used even in the eyelid area.
Sometimes cosmetologists use ready-made preparations aimed at improving the quality of the skin in the treated area. They can also be used at home.
Drugs used
Preparations for mesotherapy are selected depending on the patient’s age and his wishes. Both single products and ready-made meso-cocktails can be used. Basically, the contents of the drug include:
- hyaluronic acid;
- vasodilators;
- peptides;
- glycolic acid;
- vitamins.
The drug is prescribed after a complete examination and collection of the patient’s medical history.
The most popular means used in the fight against bags under the eyes is Dermaheal (Dermahil) Eyebag Solution.
This product is based on physiological lipolysis, which occurs without the breakdown of fat cells. The product contains 4 lipids:
- Oligopeptid-73 (CG-EPG) – burns fat formations under the lower eyelid, increases blood flow, strengthens the skin;
- CG-Lipoxyn – reduces the volume of hernial swellings, neutralizes subcutaneous fat;
- Nanopeptid-18 (CG-Formade) – activates the accumulation of collagen in tissues and prevents its degradation;
- Olegopeptid-61 (CG-Cellsolin) – brightens the skin, has an anti-inflammatory effect.
Using the Eyebag Solution complex allows you to avoid a lifeless, dull complexion, reduce the accumulation of fatty tissue under the eyes, and activate the restoration of your own collagen and HA.
How is mesotherapy performed for the skin around the eyes?
A mesotherapy session always begins with cleansing the skin of makeup and impurities and treating it with a disinfectant solution of Chlorhexidine. When using injection technology, an anesthetic is additionally applied.
When performing non-injection mesotherapy, the skin treatment algorithm is as follows:
- A selected meso-cocktail in the form of a gel is applied to the area around the eyes.
- The cosmetologist points the device at a small area and waits 10-15 seconds, then the device moves to another area.
- At the end of the treatment, the remaining gel is removed from the skin, and it is re-treated with Chlorhexidine.
- A soothing lotion is applied to the skin.
One mesotherapy session typically lasts about twenty minutes, including preliminary skin preparation.
Mesotherapy of eyes and eyelids
For mesotherapy of the paraorbital area, a syringe with a volume of 1-2 milliliters is used. It is necessary to have two types of needles for it - one of them is standard, used to draw the drug. The second is used to introduce the drug into the skin. To do this, it must be type G32 or G30 (0.26 or 0.3 mm in diameter) and be 4 or 6 mm long. A longer needle (12 mm) is less convenient in this situation, as the risk of injury to the tissues underlying the thin skin of the eyelids increases. For this purpose, some cosmetologists successfully use a SIT needle with a diameter of 0.26 mm and a length of 2 mm with a stop pad.
For convenience, the entire area of skin around the eyes is divided into three parts - the zone of the lower eyelid (from the infraorbital sulcus to the palpebral fissure), the zone of the upper eyelid (from the palpebral fissure to the orbital sulcus) and the “action zone” (a skin area measuring 2*2 cm near the lateral angle of the palpebral fissure). It is within these boundaries that mesotherapy of the paraorbital region is carried out.
It is important to be able to reassure the patient before starting the procedure, especially if there is a phobia of injection needles. Any sudden movement of the head during the administration of medications can cause serious consequences. In some cases, sedatives are recommended.
To reduce discomfort and pain during injections, local anesthesia is performed using conventional drugs (anesthesin, lidocaine). For example, the affected area is lubricated with a 2% lidocaine solution. To reduce the risk of hematoma formation, adrenaline can be added to the anesthetic; however, it reduces the rate of absorption of drugs, so its use is possible when prescribing mesotherapy with drugs of prolonged action (for example, with hyaluronic acid).
The most commonly used manual technique for administering drugs with the formation of papules is the drug is injected into the layer between the epidermis and dermis and forms a small tubercle on the skin. For this, a needle insertion depth of 0.5-0.9 mm is sufficient. When injecting, the needle is positioned at an angle of 30 degrees, the direction of the first injection is slightly upward and towards the midline of the body. Injections are carried out in rows, the first of which is located approximately midway between the edge of the lower eyelid of the closed eye and the infraorbital groove. Injections are made at a distance of 3-5 mm from each other, starting from the medial edge of the area outward. The injection line itself is an arc parallel to the infraorbital groove. The next row is made below the first at a distance of 3-5 mm. Usually, with mesotherapy on the lower eyelid, two rows are sufficient. After all injections, the surface of the skin with papules is wiped with a cotton pad soaked in saline solution.
In the area of the upper eyelid, the procedure is performed in a similar way. The only exception is the fact that three rows of injections are made at this site instead of two.
In the expression zone or lateral part of the paraorbital region, the first row of injections is made along a vertical line passing through the outer canthus. Injections are made at intervals of 3-5 mm; it is enough to place 4-5 injections of the drug in one row. The next row is made outward at a distance of 5 mm, in total from two to five rows are made in this way. After which the entire area is wiped with a cotton pad.
The question of the volume of each injection greatly depends on the type of drug. For example, the total amount of 1-2% hyaluronic acid solution used in classical mesotherapy of the periocular space is 0.3 milliliters per side. This volume is divided by the number of injections, the number of which is about 20-30. Thus, the volume of one injection in this example will be 0.01-0.015 ml.
At what age can you do mesotherapy for the skin around the eyes?
If we talk about the age at which mesotherapy can be performed in general, then cosmetologists recommend doing it from the age of 18. Since the technique involves creating many punctures in the skin, it cannot be performed in adolescence, which can lead to a hormonal surge.
Mesotherapy for the eyes itself will be most effective when the first wrinkles and other signs of photoaging appear. Most often, they begin to actively manifest themselves after 30 years.
However, even before the age of 30, you can have a cosmetic procedure for preventive purposes, making your skin young and toned.
Indications
The first signs of aging of the skin of the periorbital area in the form of small wrinkles under the lower eyelids may appear around the age of 30. In addition to this, other skin problems begin:
- bruises and bags;
- dull complexion;
- drooping eyelids.
Mesotherapy is responsible for improving the condition of this area of the face and prolonging its youth. Read about what facial mesotherapy is and why it is needed here, and from this article you will learn about the best types of this injection procedure for the face.
Indications and contraindications for mesotherapy of the skin around the eyes
Eye mesotherapy can be performed for preventive purposes to prevent age-related changes in sensitive tissues.
However, there are direct indications for its implementation:
- Pigmentation;
- Dark circles under the eyes;
- Swelling;
- Wrinkles;
- Acne and post-acne;
- Lethargy, sagging skin;
- Scars, cicatrices.
Mesotherapy will tighten the skin, making it more elastic and firm. After such manipulations, any girl will look younger and more well-groomed, even without makeup.
However, consider the contraindications:
- Diabetes;
- Tumors;
- Pregnancy;
- Low blood clotting rate;
- Fungal diseases;
- Dermatological diseases;
- Herpes.
Also, first make sure that you do not have an allergic reaction to the meso cocktail selected by the master. Despite the fact that most often it contains only useful and safe components, sometimes they lead to skin irritation as a result of individual intolerance.
Stages of the procedure
Mesotherapy in the area around the eyes, like any other similar procedure, is carried out according to the classic scenario.
- First, the surface is cleaned and numbed. It is worth noting that if you can tolerate pain, then it is better to refuse anesthetics. This will reduce the risk of swelling and bruising.
- The session is carried out only manually. The use of mesoinjectors on this surface is not permissible, since the possibility of damage to important tissues and blood vessels is very high.
- Next, the cosmetologist uses a needle to inject an individually selected cocktail into the patient using a specially developed technique.
Watch the video from which you will learn that with the help of eyelid mesotherapy you can get rid of swelling and dark circles under the eyes, sagging eyelid skin, and reduce wrinkles around the eyes:
and another very interesting story:
All this takes approximately 20 - 30 minutes. And in order for the result to last for a long time, you need to complete a course that consists of 5 – 8 procedures. The specialist determines the number of sessions independently, based on the severity of the problem and the desired result.
Possible side effects and complications after mesotherapy
Mesotherapy is considered an absolutely safe procedure regardless of the area where it is performed. This ensures that there are no negative consequences after it, provided that all prescribed recommendations and contraindications are followed.
However, side effects most often occur after eye mesotherapy. They manifest themselves in the form of local redness, swelling, and compaction in the puncture area. You may feel discomfort when touching your eyelids. Side effects usually subside within 1-3 days after mesotherapy.
If you experience itching, irritation and flaking of the skin, you should consult a dermatologist, as this may indicate an allergic reaction to the drug.
Average prices per session around the periorbital area
From dark circles
Herbal ingredients remove dark circles under the eyes.
average price:
- in St. Petersburg: 3000–5000 rubles per procedure;
- in Moscow: 4000–6000 rub.
Usually 3–7 procedures are enough.
From bags
After the injection, beneficial elements are released that can get rid of bags under the eyes.
average price:
- in St. Petersburg: 2000–5000 rub. for the procedure;
- in Moscow: 2000–5000.
Usually 3–7 procedures are enough.
For bruises
Mesotherapy returns the movement of biological fluids to normal, strengthens the walls of capillaries and fills the tissues with moisture.
Average price : 2000–5000 rub. for the procedure.
Usually 3–7 procedures are enough.
For wrinkles
Injections are administered, which contain vitamins, minerals, extracts of medicinal herbs, nucleic acids and amino acids. The solution fills wrinkles, tones the skin and makes it smooth. The advantage of this method for rejuvenation is that from external agents applied to the skin and not penetrating deep into the layers of the skin, meso-cocktails “get” to the dermis. This helps to accelerate and activate many metabolic processes, enhance blood circulation and cellular regeneration.
average cost:
- in St. Petersburg: 8,000–11,000 rubles per procedure;
- in Moscow: 10,000–12,000.
The program is compiled individually, on average a maximum of six procedures is enough.
For edema
Mesococktails will not help completely remove fat pads, because the cause of edema is hernia.
average price:
- in St. Petersburg: 2000-6000 rub. for the procedure;
- in Moscow: 3000–7000.
Usually 3–7 procedures are enough.
Recommendations for rehabilitation
After performing mesotherapy, pay attention to following the recommendations for caring for the treated area. They will not only increase the efficiency of absorption of nutrients, but also prevent the occurrence of consequences after visiting the salon.
The following recommendations must be followed:
- 4-5 hours after the procedure, do not wash your face or apply cosmetics to the treated area;
- For 7 hours after performing mesotherapy, stop smoking, drinking alcoholic beverages, energy drinks, and coffee;
- For 3 days, refuse to visit the bathhouse, sauna, or swimming pool;
- Avoid sunbathing during the mesotherapy course.
You should also stop taking blood thinning medications, since a low blood clotting rate is one of the contraindications to undergoing mesotherapy.
Rehabilitation
The recovery period lasts from 4 to 7 days. During this time, you should avoid drinking alcohol and playing sports. Physical activity causes increased sweating. Together with sweat, a cocktail will be removed from the skin. This can significantly reduce the effect of the procedure.
Treated areas should not be scratched or rubbed. The first day after mesotherapy, you should not wash your face with hot water. It is prohibited to use cosmetics (decorative and facial skin care) for two days.
To prevent exposure to ultraviolet radiation, you should wear sunglasses. During the week you cannot visit saunas, solariums, or steam rooms.
You can use creams, lotions for hypersensitive skin, tonics, anti-inflammatory ointments and masks.
Complications manifest themselves in the form of hematomas, bruises, and swelling. They do not require treatment and go away within a few days.

Can it be done at home?
As a standard, mesotherapy is considered an absolutely safe technique, which girls often perform on their own at home. However, when working with the area around the eyelids, it is worth contacting a specialist.
If you are planning to use injection mesotherapy, the wrong choice of puncture site can lead to serious consequences, as well as the radiation of electromagnetic waves when undergoing a non-injection technique.
Only to ensure the safety of manipulations should you contact a cosmetologist.
User reviews
Lyudmila, 38 years old: “For quite a long time I used various creams and masks against wrinkles around the eyes. Nothing really helped. I decided to undergo mesotherapy and was satisfied. Fine wrinkles disappeared, and deep wrinkles became less pronounced.”
Lydia, 32 years old: “Due to the specifics of the work, fatigue and bags under the eyes appeared. She underwent a course of injection therapy. The skin is fresher, and the bruises and bags have disappeared.”
Among innovative rejuvenation techniques, mesotherapy around the eyes is considered one of the most popular. This is due to the high efficiency of the procedure and the visible result after its application. Such manipulations are carried out by injection or using a special apparatus. The introduction of active components directly into the problem area allows you to quickly transport substances needed by the skin locally, without wasting time on overcoming the upper layer of the epidermis. The administered drugs trigger the regenerative function instantly, replenishing the lack of collagen and elastin in the connective tissue.
Recovery period
Immediately after the procedure, in most cases, unpleasant side effects occur, which go away on their own 6–24 hours after mesotherapy. These include:
- swelling of the eyelids;
- redness of the skin and mucous membranes;
- bruises and hematomas;
- pinpoint hemorrhages in places where the skin is punctured with a needle.
After the procedure, injection marks, minor hemorrhages, hematomas or swelling may remain on the skin for some time.
Complications, if they arise at all, appear 1–7 days after the procedure and are caused by a violation of the mesotherapy technique, the patient’s failure to comply with the rules during the recovery period, or neglect of the rules of asepsis during a cosmetic session. Most often in such cases develop:
- allergic reactions;
- formation of fibrous fibers in skin tissues;
- necrosis of dermal tissue;
- an inflammatory process caused by infection during or after the procedure.
To minimize the risk of side effects and complications, it is recommended not to violate the regimen during the rehabilitation period. The following rules must be followed:
- Avoid overheating, whether in a sauna, hot tub, direct sunlight or solarium.
- Avoid direct exposure to ultraviolet rays - again, do not go to the solarium or sunbathe.
- Before going outside, be sure to use a protective moisturizer with a high SPF level, and it is advisable to wear sunglasses.
- Do not use aggressive cosmetics - peelings, scrubs, lotions containing alcohol - until wounds are completely healed and tissues are restored.
- Do not use decorative cosmetics.
- Do not drink alcoholic beverages, even low-alcohol ones, and do not smoke.
- Do not engage in active sports.
You need to know: sport itself after mesotherapy is not harmful. But under intense loads, metabolic processes in the body accelerate, toxins are intensively eliminated, which means that the active components of the meso-cocktail will also be eliminated along with them, without having time to fully act.
Mesoscooter is a compact and easy-to-use device that can be used as an alternative to salon mesotherapy at home.
Possible consequences
The non-injection method of introducing beauty cocktails does not include a recovery period, which cannot be said about injection procedures. In the latter case, the presence of papules at puncture sites and small swellings in the treated area is considered the norm.
If the procedure is carried out correctly, swelling under the eyes after mesotherapy subsides within 2-3 days.
If the composition of the drug is professionally selected and previously tested on the patient’s skin, an allergic reaction will not occur.
In case of damage to blood vessels, hematomas may appear on the skin after mesotherapy in the form of small bruises under the eyes (as shown in the photo), which resolve within a week.
