Fractional laser facial rejuvenation Palomar

How the Palomar laser works

If we compare laser rejuvenation methods, it is quite logical to be guided by several criteria - how effective is this procedure, is it safe and does it cause discomfort? The Palomar laser meets all these criteria.

The technique was created and first tested in the USA in 2001, after which it began to be successfully used throughout the world. The operating principle of the Palomar laser is based on the fact that the skin is exposed to different impulses (long and short), as well as their combination. With a short pulse of laser radiation, the effect of ablation (tissue rejection) is achieved, and with a long pulse, the effect of coagulation (mainly of protein) is achieved.

The Palomar laser is capable of penetrating the skin up to only 1.0-1.2 mm, carrying out a fractional effect not on the dermis (deep layers of the skin), but on its surface layer. This allows the technology to be used for cosmetic and aesthetic purposes.

During the session, laser microbeams of a high degree of efficiency and density are applied to the skin, under the influence of which mechanisms for enhanced production of elastin and collagen are launched in the epidermis. The technique is gentle, does not require anesthesia and does not lead to severe pain.

Laser operating principle

Palomar affects the skin through pulses and their combinations. When a short pulse is activated, tissue rejection occurs, and when a long pulse acts, coagulation occurs. The laser passes through the skin by 1.0-1.2 mm, acting on its surface. Under micro-ray radiation, active formation of collagen and elastin begins in the epidermis. All actions are performed without anesthesia.

The duration of the session is about 30-50 minutes.

Before the procedure begins, all cosmetics, particles of sebum and dust are removed from the skin.
Immediately after the procedure, the skin becomes slightly reddish and swollen. But after a few days everything goes away. At the site of stretch marks, redness may persist for 7-10 days. Alignment is noticeable within a couple of days
.

Our clinic specialists recommend 2 to 4 sessions to achieve the desired result. The frequency is no more than once every 3-4 weeks.

How is the laser rejuvenation procedure performed?

Before the procedure, you must remove all makeup, dust, dirt and sebum from your face. Anesthesia with creams is not used, since the Palomar rejuvenation technique is distinguished by its softness (the presence of a contact cooling system).

The duration of the procedure is only 30-50 minutes. Immediately after the session, the skin turns red and swells slightly, but all these unpleasant sensations disappear after a few days. Redness in the area of stretch marks lasts a little longer (7-10 days), but the effect of smoothing the relief of the skin becomes visible after 2-3 days.

For a full course, 2-4 sessions are usually enough, which are carried out once every 3-4 weeks. During this time, the skin has time to produce a sufficient amount of collagen fibers for the result to become noticeable. For deep wrinkles and scar changes, it is necessary to receive at least 6-8 procedures.

At the Cosmetology and Podology Clinic of Monaco, fractional laser rejuvenation procedures are performed using the American Palomar Star Lux 500 system and the Lux 1540 attachment, which is currently recognized as the “gold standard” of fractional laser technologies. Today, many manufacturers equip their devices with fractional modes. But it was Palomar Medical Technologies that in 2004 was the first in the world to patent the fractional principle of laser exposure.

What problems can be solved with fractional laser rejuvenation?

  • Wrinkles on the face, neck, décolleté, hands
  • Wrinkles around the eyes, crow's feet
  • Loss of elasticity and skin turgor
  • Uneven skin texture
  • Gravitational ptosis (sagging), including the upper and lower eyelids

What is the principle of fractional laser rejuvenation?

As a result of exposure to a fractional laser, a large number of microscopic treatment zones are formed in the skin, in which new tissue is rapidly formed. Cells are also involved in this process and are actively renewed. As a result, the skin is evened out, acquires a smooth and even appearance, and the newly formed collagen-elastin framework gives the skin density and elasticity, eliminates wrinkles, and outlines the correct oval of the face.

What results does fractional laser rejuvenation help achieve?

Results are visible within a week after the first fractional rejuvenation procedure:

  • wrinkles and crow's feet disappear
  • pores are reduced,
  • skin texture and color improves,
  • the skin gains a healthy glow,
  • skin turgor is restored,
  • The oval of the face becomes clearer.

To obtain the maximum effect, it is necessary to conduct 3-5 sessions (sometimes less) with a frequency of 3-4 weeks.

The effect of fractional laser rejuvenation not only remains, but also increases within six months after completion of the course.

How long does it take to recover after the procedure?

In the first 3-4 days, redness of the skin and slight swelling in the affected area are possible. If you follow your doctor’s recommendations, the rehabilitation period will be as comfortable as possible for you.

Benefits of fractional laser rejuvenation using Palomar StarLux 1540/

  • High efficiency. The Lux1540 head uses much more energy per microbeam (up to 70 mJ), which allows you to solve the most pressing aesthetic problems without damaging the skin.
  • Speed and convenience. The Lux1540 laser does not require special training.
  • Safety and painlessness. Advanced smooth pulse technology with simultaneous contact cooling throughout the procedure ensures the highest safety and maximum possible painlessness compared to all other lasers available.
  • Minimum rehabilitation period (3-4 days)
  • Long lasting effect. Clinically proven results indicate that Laser facelift with the Palomar device does not just remove the symptoms of aging - it helps to awaken the skin rejuvenation mechanism.

What results can you expect?

With Palomar laser rejuvenation, results can be achieved in a short period of time (5-7 days), and the procedure itself is indicated for:

  • The presence of a network of wrinkles around the eyes.
  • Dull complexion and the presence of acne scars.
  • Gravity prose (sagging skin), deep nasolabial folds and folds on the forehead.
  • Scars and cicatricial changes in the skin.
  • Signs of photoaging.
  • Presence of age spots and melasma (spots after pregnancy).
  • The presence of loose skin on the face, décolleté and neck area.
  • Vascular network of small capillaries.

It should be noted that this technology can be used from the age of 25, since it is from this age that age-related skin changes begin. The later a woman begins to monitor her appearance, the more sessions she has to receive to achieve results. Usually, at the age of 40-45, 3-4 procedures are enough to maintain the effect for several years.

The same is with stretch marks - to remove fresh scars (2-3 years old) it will take only 2-3 sessions, but to remove old scars it may take more than 5-6 procedures.

Indications and contraindications

The non-ablative laser rejuvenation procedure is ideal for:

  • elimination of visible age-related changes in the skin - wrinkles, folds, sagging, dryness;
