When choosing a face mask, we are guided by individual preferences, problems that need to be addressed and, of course, quality. Many people prefer to make their own face masks, carefully selecting the ingredients, while others prefer to purchase a ready-made mixture for application to the face. Both the first and the second, in order to obtain the desired result and minimize unwanted effects, you need to familiarize yourself with the rules for applying masks to the face, which estet-portal.com will describe in this article.
Face masks for every day - 7 best recipes.
Monday: Oatmeal.
On Monday, our skin especially needs energy and nutrition, so we will prepare a mask of ground oatmeal for it. To do this, mix it with a small amount of hot water and leave for 10 minutes. Then we apply the mask to the face for half an hour, rinse with warm water, and we can assume that we are ready to start a new week. Tuesday: yogurt.
On Tuesday we are usually less tired than on Monday, but the skin still needs a boost of energy and nutrition for the whole week. To do this, let's take advantage of the beneficial properties of yogurt - a product that moisturizes the skin without making it oily. There is no simpler recipe than a yoghurt mask - just apply the required amount of natural yoghurt to your face for half an hour. This low-cost product will effectively help your skin.
Medium: clay. We are in the middle of the week, and this is a good moment to deep cleanse the skin, rid it of toxins and impurities and saturate it with minerals.
For such a mask you will need natural green clay, which can be found in a pharmacy or herbal store.
Mix green clay powder with warm water, adding it a little at a time until you get a paste (the mass should not be very liquid. Apply the mask to your face, avoiding the eye contour, and leave for 20-30 minutes until it dries. Then rinse warm water.
A green clay mask helps remove oily shine and make your skin more radiant and healthy. So, if you have dry skin, use yogurt instead of water in your mask recipe, and after cleansing your skin, apply moisturizer or a little olive oil to your face.
Thursday: lemon and honey. The end of the week is approaching, and it's time to cleanse your skin of imperfections with lemon and moisturize and add radiance to it with natural honey.
Grate the zest and finely chop the lemon, heat the honey in a water bath so that it becomes more liquid. Mix honey and lemon and apply the mask on your face for half an hour, then rinse with warm water.
Friday: cucumber. Friday finally arrives, one day left until the weekend. Over the week, our skin has accumulated fatigue and toxins, so let's refresh, deeply moisturize and restore its elasticity with the help of cucumber.
To prepare the mask, it is better to grate the cucumber. Mix it with milk or rice water, and then apply the mixture to your face with gentle movements using a cotton pad. Apply two slices of cucumber to your eyelids to revitalize the skin around your eyes.
Lie down on the sofa for 20 minutes and then wash your face with cool water. This lotion can also be applied to the skin before bed to relieve dryness and tightness.
Saturday: avocado. On Saturday you can use it not only for relaxation, but also to nourish the skin. Prepare the mask by softening the avocado pulp with a fork.
Since avocado is already rich in fatty acids, vitamins and minerals, no other ingredients are needed. Apply the mask to your face and leave the mixture on the skin until it dries, then the mask can be washed off with warm water.
Sunday: lavender. What our skin needs on Sunday is to calm and relax it. A decoction of lavender is well suited for this (you can buy the dry collection at a pharmacy and prepare the decoction according to the recipe on the package.
Let the hot broth cool down and then apply it to your face using a cotton pad. It is worth doing this with soft movements from the chin and nose to the temples and from the bridge of the nose along the forehead also to the temples and cheekbones.
Don't forget also about the neck and décolleté area. All that is needed next is a good night's sleep before the new week.
Types of face masks
In my opinion, masks are much easier to classify not by age or skin type, but by action.
Moisturizing mask
For example, a moisturizing mask is a fairly universal remedy, because dry, oily, and combination skin need hydration, and such a mask is useful at any age - for young, mature, and aging facial skin.
One of my favorites is the moisturizing gel mask from Algologie - Moisture Replenish Mask. This mask contains seaweed, hyaluronic acid and sweet almond oil. It quickly replenishes water deficiency and is indispensable in situations where the skin intensively loses moisture - after an air flight or prolonged exposure to the sun, so I always take this mask with me on the road.
I also love this mask for its versatility - it can be used not only to moisturize the skin of the face and neck, but also for the skin around the eyes.
Cleansing mask and anti-inflammatory mask
A cleansing mask is perhaps an indispensable product when caring for combination and oily skin. Such a mask will adsorb excess sebum, reduce the diameter of pores and give the skin a matte tint.
And if the skin is prone to rashes, then in such cases it is advisable to always have an anti-inflammatory mask on hand, which will help to quickly relieve the inflammatory process.
For such cases, I can recommend the Algologie Purifying Mask. As I already said, I love products that solve several problems at once, and this mask is one of those.
It contains white clay, B vitamins, seaweed and plant extracts, which improves local immunity, relieves inflammatory reactions, and also perfectly cleanses and reduces pore diameter. My clients with oily or breakout-prone skin love this mask.
Personally, I no longer need such a mask; I rarely use it and only locally. If a pimple suddenly pops up, this mask can be applied to the inflamed area and left overnight.
Of course, a miracle will not happen - the pimple will not disappear by morning, but the mask will reduce the inflammatory reaction and swelling, and the pimple will become smaller, it will not be so noticeable and not so painful, and it will be easier to hide it with the help of concealers.
Nourishing mask
A nourishing mask is an effective treatment for dry, mature and aging skin. This mask restores the epidermal barrier, eliminates the feeling of dryness and tightness and makes the skin smoother and more elastic.
Among my favorites I can name Dr. Cream mask with wheat germ. Spiller - Wheat Germ Cream Mask. This mask contains wheat germ oil, vitamin E and lecithin, perfectly nourishes, moisturizes and restores the skin. This mask is suitable for women between 30 and 40 years old.
I also like Dr. biocellular mask. Spiller - Cellular Cream Mask. This mask is suitable for dry, aging skin after 40, as well as after 50 and older. It contains grape seed oil, vitamins and phytohormones, which are very effective in caring for aging skin. The mask deeply moisturizes, nourishes and rejuvenates the skin of the face and neck, making it more elastic and radiant.
Plus, I love these nourishing masks because you don’t have to wash them off! I usually apply such masks in the evening after cleansing, after 20 minutes I lightly massage the skin until completely absorbed and leave the mask on all night. After this procedure, in the morning I get smooth and radiant skin on my face and neck.
I love both masks. I usually use biocellular in winter, when the skin becomes drier. And during the rest of the year it is still too dense and rich for me, so I use a mask with wheat germ as a nourishing mask.
Soothing mask
A soothing mask is a product that should always be on hand for those with sensitive skin. Such skin often behaves quite inappropriately and can react with redness or irritation to completely harmless things - spicy food or a new face cream.
Soothing masks normalize the sensitivity of skin receptors, have an anti-inflammatory effect and thus quickly eliminate redness, irritation and other negative reactions.
I myself have sensitive skin, so I often try various soothing masks. Lately I've been really loving the Dr. Cooling Mineral Mask. Spiller - Cooling Mineral Mask. This mask contains arnica and edelweiss extracts, rose and thermal water, it quickly soothes irritated skin - relieves redness, reduces swelling, improves the appearance and complexion and provides a lifting effect.

Types and frequency of use
The frequency of use of skincare cosmetics depends directly on the effect they have. As a rule, the ingredients have an accumulating effect, which is fully manifested only after 2-3 months of regular procedures. Therefore, during care it is important to maintain regularity, but not to go too far. Let's look at the important question of how often you can do face masks.
In order to achieve the desired goals and not cause harm to health, it is necessary to take into account the individual characteristics of the body, as we have already written about earlier. The first thing you need to pay attention to is age:
Exfoliate and cleanse
Their main task is to cleanse from dirt, cosmetic residues, formed sebum, and the keratinized layer of the epidermis. The optimal frequency in this case is no more than twice a week. If you are the owner of a sensitive type, the number of procedures is reduced to one. Otherwise, the cover becomes thinner, redness and irritation appear.
Moisturize and nourish
Nourishing compositions deeply saturate the epidermis with useful substances and stimulate metabolism. If sour cream, egg, oatmeal and other natural products are used as ingredients, they can be used almost every day, since they in no way harm the skin condition and do not have a negative effect. If other components are used, it is better to perform manipulations once every 7–8 days; in winter, the frequency can be increased to several times a week. If you have a sensitive type, then during the cold period you need to carry out the procedure no more than 8-9 times a month. When the weather outside is warm or even hot, you can nourish and moisturize the epidermis every other day. If you overdo it with the frequency, the pH balance is disrupted, which manifests itself as unwanted irritation, redness and other negative aspects.
Dry
As you understand, when answering the question of how many times you can make face masks, the effect is of great importance. If you want to achieve a mattifying effect, eliminate oily shine, cure acne and at the same time not dry out the epidermis, you need to properly maintain the timing of the event. It is better to give preference to products that contain clay, citrus fruits, kefir, and medicinal herbs. It is recommended to carry out all manipulations after good cleansing, as a result of which the active components of the drying bowls penetrate into the open pores. The optimal frequency is 3 times a week. We repeat again that you should not carry out procedures more often, as this increases the risk of peeling.
Get rid of wrinkles
This cosmetics has a stimulating effect on the renewal process. They effectively tighten the skin and rejuvenate it. They should be applied no more than 2-3 times a week. Regularity is of great importance here, that is, you should not skip planned manipulations. If you do it more often, the entire accumulated positive result is lost.
Lighten
Representatives of the fair sex who have freckles or darkening of various natures on their faces prefer products with a lightening effect. Here it is important to choose the optimal frequency in order to achieve the desired result without harm to health. It is necessary to take into account the characteristics of the skin. If it is dry and sensitive, apply once every 13–14 days. If we are talking about the age after 40 years, the procedure should also be carried out every two weeks. If this is a combined or normal type, you can perform the manipulation more often, for example, three times a month. If you have a tendency to develop oiliness, you can increase the amount to 3 times a week. However, you should not exceed this limit, as this is fraught with negative consequences.
For the skin around the eyes
This area is the most delicate and vulnerable epidermis, so it is important to properly moisturize it and smooth out fine wrinkles. Properly selected substances help eliminate the consequences of sleepless nights, erase traces of fatigue, brighten the area, and increase tone. To achieve the desired result, it is enough to carry out manipulations every 2-3 days.
Acne masks
These are medicinal remedies that are easy to prepare at home. It is necessary to apply the prepared compositions as carefully as possible so as not to harm the condition of the skin. Experts recommend visiting a cosmetologist first and getting his professional advice. For preparation, you can choose clay, citruses, healing mud, oatmeal. It is better to carry out the procedure every other day. If there is an exacerbation of the inflammatory process or the number of pustules has sharply increased, it is better to refuse any manipulations.
Tonic
If you don't know how often you should use a face mask, consider the characteristics of your body. If you feel that the epidermis needs freshness, prepare the composition and apply it. It is better to use the products when the skin needs increased tone, nutrition and elimination of signs of fatigue. The substances can also solve the problem of fine wrinkles.
Alginate
Alginate is a powder made from dried seaweed. When combined with a divalent atom, it goes into a gel-like state. On the modern market you can purchase products in two forms: ready-to-use and powdered for further mixing. After achieving the desired concentration, apply a thin layer of the mask and leave for 10–15 minutes. In some cases, it may take longer. The main thing is that the composition has time to harden.
Everyday face masks for oily skin. Consequences of frequent use of intensive masks
Firming and rejuvenating face masks will only be effective if used correctly. Rejuvenation occurs by stimulating collagen synthesis, or by filling wrinkles with substances that are included in the masks.
Such masks should be used no more than once a week, otherwise the skin gets used to the active ingredients of the product and becomes “lazy”. As a result, the processes occurring in the epidermis slow down, resulting in the appearance of new wrinkles, sagging skin and premature aging.
The same mechanism of action applies to products with a lifting effect, the frequent use of which leads to loss of skin elasticity.
Cleansing masks contain components that promote gentle exfoliation of the top layer of skin. Most often, fruit acids can be found in such masks. Cleansing is carried out by irritating the skin with active substances.
Daily use of such products is unacceptable and can lead to an allergic reaction, peeling and rashes caused by damage to the top layer of skin. Pay special attention to this so as not to cause an allergic reaction on your face.
Masks for oily skin, which regulate sebum production and give an excellent matte complexion, are also active products.
Daily use leads to activation of the skin's protective reaction, which results in increased secretion. This causes clogging of pores and the formation of closed comedones, which can be difficult to get rid of.
Homemade masks represent a separate group. Their effectiveness is due to the use of natural products - fruits, vegetables, honey or dairy products. Such products saturate the skin with vitamins and improve its condition. At the same time, the ingredients in homemade beauty products are strong allergens that tend to accumulate in the body.
The result of frequent use of such masks can be a severe allergic reaction, peeling, itching and the appearance of a rash. Therefore, even such face masks should be used in moderation so as not to harm your skin.
How to use an antiseptic correctly
Make sure that antiseptics do not get inside or onto mucous membranes or open wounds! And once again: do not get carried away with them in order to avoid allergies and disruption of the natural microflora. Most available antiseptics are gel-based. It is enough to apply a couple of drops on your palms, rub them and let the composition dry; there is no need to wash off the gel or wipe off the residue with a napkin. If the product is of high quality, there should not be a greasy film effect. Another form of antiseptic release is sprays. When using them, it is important not to overdo it: a couple of presses for each palm is enough; otherwise you may dry out your skin.
It is necessary to treat not only your hands with an antiseptic, but also objects, especially gadgets. Try to process every half hour. Do not touch the steering wheel or door handles until you have treated them with an antiseptic. The most important thing is not to touch your face. It is also good to use air sanitizers. Try to use twice a day in the dirtiest part of the apartment, and also treat the soles of your shoes.
Face masks for every day at home. Indications and contraindications
A face mask at home is a product with active ingredients that affect not only the surface of the skin itself, but also the inner layer of the epidermis. You need to know in which cases which mask is best to use. But there are also general indications for the use of such home care cosmetics:
- cleansing the skin of dust, dirt, toxins and dead epithelium;
- dry skin (oily skin can also experience a lack of moisture);
- the presence of pimples, blackheads, acne;
- rosacea;
- dull complexion;
- deterioration of skin turgor regardless of age;
- age-related changes;
- the presence of small wrinkles in different parts of the face, as well as on the neck and décolleté;
- the appearance of pigment spots;
- dark circles and bags under the eyes;
- blurry oval face;
- off-season, when the body lacks vitamins.
There are such unique recipes when the mask can be trusted to eliminate problems that have arisen right before “going out into the world.” This is a kind of “first aid”.
But at the same time, there are a number of contraindications for conducting home cosmetology sessions. And again, the reason for the prohibitions lies not only in the state of the body, but also in the components of the magical compositions. It is not recommended to apply masks in the following cases:
- individual intolerance to any of the components of the product (fortunately, there are many recipes and you can choose the one that suits you if you wish);
- the presence of wounds, cuts, scratches on the skin;
- dermatological problems in the treated area;
- open ulcers, ulcers, erosions;
- hypertension;
- some cardiovascular diseases;
- diabetes mellitus for masks that use sweet foods.
Very important! Before using any new composition, especially if there is a predisposition to allergies, you need to conduct a tolerance test. To do this, apply a few drops of the product to the inside of the elbow or wrist and rub into the skin. Wait about half an hour (for masks with honey - at least one and a half hours). If there are no uncomfortable sensations in the form of burning, itching, tingling and after removing the composition there is no redness or swelling on the skin, you can apply it to the face.
How often can you make nourishing masks?
Nourishing face masks are designed to heal the skin and restore its excellent appearance. They saturate the epidermis with missing minerals, give it firmness and elasticity, and help smooth out surface wrinkles.
Nourishing masks are universal and suitable for all skin types. As mentioned above, it is necessary to use masks based on the type and condition of the skin. The frequency of use will also depend on this factor.
Industrially produced nourishing masks are recommended to be used about three to four times a week. Masks prepared with your own hands at home from natural ingredients can be used every day if your skin condition requires it.
Face masks for every day against wrinkles. Effective anti-wrinkle masks at home
The anti-wrinkle masks we have presented, made from the simplest ingredients, are available to every woman who wants to maintain her fresh complexion for many years. The effect of them is amazing, and with the money saved from a visit to a cosmetologist, they will be able to pamper themselves with delicious fruits, which will additionally have a beneficial effect on the skin from the inside. There can be no harm from the homemade masks we offer, since they consist of ordinary products included in our diet. The only exception is individual intolerance to some components, but these are rare cases. Use our recipes and tips that will tell you how to get rid of wrinkles using masks at home.
Rules for using anti-wrinkle masks
The effect of the best anti-wrinkle masks when carrying out anti-aging procedures at home will be much higher if you comply with the following mandatory requirements:
- Before applying the mask, you need to clean the skin pores, through which the lower layers of the epidermis will be saturated.
- It is necessary to prepare the composition literally before using it.
- The mask should be applied along the massage lines of the face.
- The components used for oily skin are not suitable for dry skin types, so you need to select them strictly in accordance with your facial features.
- Avoid using new recipes just before a holiday party to avoid irritation. It is better to check the quality of the mask before the day when you plan to conduct business without leaving your home. This will give you time to recover and eliminate skin irritation if there is a negative reaction.
- You should not make a mask if you have inflammation or skin diseases, or during periods of illness. The body is weakened at this time, so you can get the completely opposite result.
- After applying the anti-wrinkle mask, the skin will glow with youth if the whole procedure takes place in a good mood. For example, your favorite music or a humorous program will help to raise it. Try to rest your soul and body during this time. Remember that when a woman goes to a spa salon, she does not do “mountains” of things there along the way. Give yourself just 20 minutes of time for pleasant relaxation. This will be quite enough for the beneficial substances to be absorbed into the subcutaneous layers and begin their beneficial work there.
How to properly apply an alginate mask on your face: step-by-step instructions
The photo above shows how to properly apply an alginate mask to your face . This is an innovative cosmetic product. With its help, you can very quickly and effectively improve your skin: rejuvenate, refresh and tighten.
The alginate mask consists of an acid of the same name, which is obtained from seaweed. This multi-colored powder (the color depends on the additives), which has a pleasant smell, is diluted with liquid.
To the benefits
alginate masks include:
- Versatility
- it is suitable for women of any age and with any skin type. - The quick effect
of using the mask is immediately visible: lifting, smoothing, improving skin texture. The rejuvenating effect can only be judged after completing the full course. - Multitasking
- the alginate mask perfectly performs the following tasks:
- intensive hydration of the skin;
- stimulation of the process of tissue metabolism and regeneration;
- increasing skin elasticity and improving its texture;
- narrowing of pores;
- increasing tone, smoothing and strengthening the skin.
The alginate mask formula may include vitamins, plant extracts, essential oils, hyaluronic acid and collagen. Thanks to these additives, the product has not only a universal, but also a specific effect. Alginate face mask has anti-inflammatory, anti-aging, anti-rosacea and other beneficial properties. When choosing such a product, you need to focus on your skin type. For example, if it is oily, then it is better if it contains tea tree extract.
If you apply an alginate mask on top of a cream or serum, its effect will be more effective; it will be a conductor that facilitates the penetration of beneficial substances into the dermis.
To achieve maximum results, you need to familiarize yourself with some rules for using the product. Step-by-step instruction
Below will tell you how to apply this mask correctly.
Step 1.
Remove impurities from the skin with milk or micellar water. You can exfoliate to get rid of dead cells.
Step 2.
Refresh your facial skin with toner and treat with the appropriate serum (with the effects of moisturizing, whitening, rejuvenating, etc.). The use of serum is not mandatory, but it will significantly increase the effectiveness of the mask.
Step 3.
While the serum is absorbed, you need to prepare the mask. To do this, mix 30 g of powder and water (mineral or regular) in a ratio of 1:3, unless the instructions indicate a different ratio. Quickly stir the ingredients with a spatula. The mask must be applied immediately, since the resulting creamy mixture will become rubbery after 5–7 minutes, i.e. it will be plasticized.
Step 4.
Relax your facial muscles, tilt your head back and begin to apply the mask with a spatula or spatula along the massage lines. The layer should be thick and can be applied to the chin, neck, lips and eyes. If you suffer from claustrophobia and are afraid of closed spaces, you can leave your eyes open.
Step 5.
Spend the next half hour in a relaxed state. Then carefully remove the mask by grabbing it by the bottom edge and moving from bottom to top. If there is anything left, remove it with tonic. Place the “cast” in the trash, but not down the drain. There is no need to wash your face after the procedure.
Face masks for every day, day by day. How to properly use face masks by season
So, what kind of face masks can you do every day? For daily use, preference should be given to moisturizing and nourishing products. In this case, the choice of mask is made depending on the season and the needs of the skin:
- During the cold season, the skin is exposed to frost and needs nutrition, so nourishing masks should be used. You can use effective mask recipes for peeling facial skin.
- In summer, the skin loses moisture due to exposure to ultraviolet radiation, so it needs additional hydration. For example, you can use recipes for alginate masks, which will serve as an effective means for regular facial skin care and will always allow you to look young and fresh.
- In autumn and spring, the choice of masks is made according to the needs of the skin. You can also alternate masks, using a moisturizing one today and a nourishing one tomorrow.
Why shouldn't you make masks every day?
Do not forget that masks are considered additional facial care products. Unlike basic products (day and night creams), their task is to solve specific skin problems, and not to maintain its condition every day. Anti-aging masks smooth out wrinkles and tighten the facial contour, moisturizing masks remove dryness and flaking, etc.
All high-quality products are characterized by a cumulative effect, which manifests itself 2-3 months after the start of use. Their active components (vitamins, fruit acids, peptides) act from the inside, not the outside. You need to use such products regularly, but not too often.
However, additional care cosmetics have another important property - they force the skin to independently produce the substances necessary to maintain a healthy appearance. For example, good anti-aging cosmetics stimulate the production of fibers, which are responsible for skin elasticity. This is what the rejuvenating effect is based on. However, the skin will produce the necessary substances only under conditions of a certain deficiency of these same substances. In other words, good masks not only give the cells everything they need, but also keep them in good shape.
Face masks for every day of the week. Mask of youth from Sophia Loren.
Sophia Loren is a famous diva who manages to look great at 80 years old. She shares her secrets in her books. This includes proper nutrition, sports exercises, and cosmetic care. The recipe for one of the masks that can rejuvenate the face is in front of you.
Ingredients:
- gelatin - 3 tsp.
- milk - 50 gr.
- honey - 3 tsp.
- glycerin - 3 tsp.
1. Gelatin is natural collagen. Unfortunately, it cannot cause the skin to produce its own collagen, but it can fill in wrinkles and make the skin appear smoother. It has some lifting and brightening effect. Pour cold milk over the gelatin and leave for at least 1 hour. If you want, you can pour it in the evening, put it in the refrigerator (don't forget to cover it), and make a mask in the morning.
2. When the gelatin swells well, there will be a thick mass. It needs to be melted in a water bath for about a minute. The main thing is to stir constantly, not letting the milk boil. If the mixture boils, gelatin will lose its “magical” properties. You can use the microwave to melt. Just heat for 10 seconds first and see if the gelatin has dissolved. Stir and heat a little more if necessary.
3. Place honey and glycerin into the cooled gelatin mass.
If you are allergic to honey, replace it with 2 tsp. olive oil (source of vitamin E) + 1 tsp. oatmeal (tightens the skin).
4. Stir everything until smooth. This mask is applied to a clean face with a brush in three layers. First apply the first layer and wait for it to dry. Then the second and third layers are applied in the same way. By the way, you can apply it not only to the face, but to the arms, neck, and décolleté area.
5. The mask must be kept for 10 minutes, then soaked with warm water, because the gelatin will dry out and form a film. Wash your face and apply your day cream.
This mask can be stored for 3 days in the refrigerator.
For the first week, you can do this mask every day. Then - once a week. This course will give a noticeable lifting effect.
How to choose ingredients according to skin type
Each skin type needs certain masks, so it is necessary to select the components correctly:
- Fat. It is recommended to make facial products with a mattifying, cleansing, and soothing effect. Herbal ingredients (linden, chamomile, cocoa bean extract), clay, honey, protein, lemon juice are suitable for this.
- Dry and sensitive. Nourishing and moisturizing masks are needed. The best natural ingredients for flaky skin are honey, olive oil, egg yolk, yogurt. Boiled pumpkin and oatmeal are also suitable.
- Problematic. Characterized by frequent occurrence of acne, irritation, and allergic reactions. First, cleansing masks are used to open the pores on the face, and then products with natural oils, aloe juice, and medicinal plants are applied. They will help normalize the balance of sebum and heal wounds that arise due to acne.
- Normal. Raw fruits, vegetables, kefir, citrus fruits are suitable for it, but not more than 2 times a week. You can apply the product with sour cream or olive oil, but only once in 7 days.
- Combined. Soothing, nourishing, cleansing, moisturizing masks are suitable. Products with oatmeal, milk, coffee, berries, cottage cheese, honey, and egg yolk are good.
