This article is about the use of gelatin in cosmetology. You will find here many recipes for gelatin masks, tips for their preparation and use, as well as reviews and photos.
Every housewife probably has gelatin in her kitchen, but not everyone knows its miraculous properties in cosmetology. Gelatin is an inexpensive alternative to beauty salons. It consists of pure collagen, the miraculous properties of which you have certainly heard about. It easily penetrates the skin, removes sagging, tightens it and makes it more elastic. Gelatin mask is also effective in combating blackheads and other skin impurities.
Gelatin face masks with a firming effect
You shouldn’t believe in a miracle; a gelatin mask will not remove all wrinkles; only plastic surgery can do that. But such a mask can slightly correct the oval of the face, even out shallow wrinkles, and give the skin elasticity.
Masks based on gelatin lead among others thanks to collagen, which in turn is responsible for youthful skin. And also because such a mask, when dry, forms a film that noticeably tightens the skin.
Your actions:
- combine 1 part gelatin and 2 parts water; for dry skin, take milk
- when the gelatin swells, place our mixture in a water bath and wait until it dissolves
- Cool the mixture and apply it on your neck and face
- wait until the mask forms a film and dries completely
- wash with warm water
Mask made of gelatin and activated carbon
Gelatin does an excellent job of cleansing the skin of blackheads, and if you add activated charcoal to it, which is able to pull out all the dirt from the pores, you get a very good cleansing mask:
- Steam your cleansed face to achieve maximum effect.
- if you have combination or oily skin, dilute gelatin in fruit juice 1:5, apple or orange is good, if your skin is prone to flaking - in milk
- after swelling, dissolve the gelatin by heating the mixture in a water bath
- add two tablets of activated carbon to the mask, crushed well before this
- mix everything thoroughly and apply to face
- After the mixture dries well on your face, rinse it off with warm water.
How to prepare the base - the most important rule
Before preparing the mask itself, you need to prepare the gelatin base. Take 1 tablespoon of gelatin, pour 100 g of it. (half a glass) of cold water. Let stand for 30 minutes, stir, if the consistency is too thick, add a couple of tablespoons of water, put in a water bath or in the microwave or on the stove for a minute. Cool to a comfortable temperature.
That's it - the base is ready. Sometimes when I don't have any other ingredients on hand, I use plain gelatin WITHOUT ANYTHING. This mask perfectly tightens the oval of the face and tightens the pores.
What you didn’t know - how to wash off a gelatin mask correctly
We are accustomed to paying attention only to the preparation of the face before a cosmetic procedure, to the correctness of the recipe. There is little talk about how to wash off masks, because we already know everything. BUT! In the case of gelatin face masks, everything is different. Not only the recipe is important here, but also the order of removal, otherwise you can either scratch your face or cause peeling, especially if you have dry skin. So, step by step, how to properly wash off a gelatin mask.
- Boil a kettle of water before applying the mask, when we need the water it will be at the right temperature.
- Pour warm water into a bowl and place your face over the steam for 30 seconds. Carefully remove the gelatin with a soft sponge, preferably a sponge, and rinse with cold water.
- You can steam gelatin from your face using the second method using a hot towel or washing your face with hot water until the gelatin comes off the skin on its own.
Remember once and for all - you cannot tear off pieces of gelatin from your face, as this will negate all the benefits of the procedure.
And now the fun part - the recipes.
Gelatin mask for blackheads
The mask works 100%! Blackheads are the result of the active work of the sebaceous glands. Sebum cells oxidize in the air and take the form of dirty black dots on the face, which many people mistake for dirt. A gelatin mask cleanses pores without much difficulty and normalizes the functioning of the sebaceous and sweat glands.
Required: 1 spoon of gelatin, 1 tablet of activated carbon, lemon juice 2 spoons or milk. Remember, if your skin is dry, add milk to the bowl. If oily, then lemon juice. Lemon juice can be replaced with apple or orange juice.
Prepare gelatin, add activated carbon powder, lemon juice or milk. Mix until smooth, leave on face for 15 minutes. Afterwards, carefully wash off the film and enjoy the result!
Gelatin face mask against wrinkles
This miracle mask perfectly tightens the skin and reduces wrinkles! I use it to get rid of an extra chin and get (albeit for a few days) clear facial contours, or as they say, improve skin turgor, what is all the details here... This is the only mask for which the base is prepared immediately.
You will need: 1 spoon of edible gelatin, 2 spoons of milk and an egg. Combine milk and gelatin, place in a water bath or heat in the microwave until smooth and the gelatin is dissolved in the milk. Beat the egg separately, add to the bowl, mix well. Apply from bottom to top on face and neck for half an hour. Rinse off only with warm water without a steam bath.
Facial renewal with glycerin for tired skin
This mask replenishes the lack of water in the upper layers, is suitable for oily and dry skin, smoothes out fine wrinkles and removes early pigmentation. It is important to know that glycerin CANNOT be applied to the skin undiluted. The composition attracts water and can cause the skin not to replenish with water, but rather dry it out excessively. For any home procedures, dilute it with water to 7% of the condition.
For the mask you need: 2 l. gelatin, 1 egg white, 1 l. glycerin,
Combine prepared swollen and dissolved gelatin with glycerin and egg white until foamy. Leave the mixture on your face for 15-20 minutes. Rinse off with water, helping yourself with a cotton pad. Have you noticed how rosy and fresh your face is? It will remain like this for a long time if you make such a mask 2 times a month, alternating it with nourishing masks and scrubs.
Honey mask for oily skin
Honey has an anti-inflammatory effect and nourishes the skin due to a large number of natural components. The skin will thank you very much when it receives all the necessary substances in 20 minutes! In addition, the production of sebum is regulated, and as a result, skin rashes disappear. The face looks younger and fresher.
Required: 3 l. gelatin, 1 l. honey, 1 spoon of lemon juice or white grape juice. Prepare gelatin, add lemon juice and honey, which should be liquid. If the honey is thick, then it must be melted and added to the ingredients. Distribute over face and leave for half an hour. Then rinse with warm water.
Face mask brightening and toning
Do you have freckles, or have you, like me, noticed the first signs of age-related pigmentation? This mask is just for us, it helps to quickly get rid of freckles and perfectly tones the skin. Cucumber has an excellent whitening and soothing effect.
Required: 1 spoon of gelatin, 6 spoons of cucumber juice. Prepare gelatin in a known manner. Add cucumber extract and apply to desired areas of face for 20 minutes. Then the mask should be washed off using water at a comfortable temperature. Repeat 2 times a week. My face became like a cucumber! By the way, this mask can be applied to the neck and décolleté area.
Nourishing mask for all skin types
Avocado is a storehouse of healthy vitamins and contains polyunsaturated fats that nourish and moisturize the skin. The mask has a tightening, rejuvenating effect and gives the face a pleasant peach tint.
Required: 1 spoon of gelatin, half an avocado.
Prepare gelatin, cut the avocado in half, remove the pit. Scoop out the pulp with a spoon and mix thoroughly. Leave on the skin for 30 minutes (remember to apply the mask from bottom to top). Rinse with water and apply any nourishing cream if your skin is prone to peeling.
Gelatin face mask with cottage cheese
This recipe is perfect for quickly getting your skin in order. The effect is instant! The mask moisturizes and nourishes, perfectly relieves tension, restores natural blush, tightens the oval and smoothes out fine wrinkles.
Required: 1 spoon of gelatin, 2 spoons of milk, 1 spoon of cottage cheese. Soak gelatin in milk for 15 minutes. Dissolve in a water bath, add high-fat cottage cheese. Apply to face for 30 minutes. Rinse off with warm water. The skin has acquired a healthy color and velvety texture.
Mask with gelatin and orange
I no longer make a mask with orange. Because after 40 years I began to notice an allergy to citrus fruits, but if this problem does not bother you, you are under 40 years old, and you suffer from excessive sebum production, then this toning mask is just for you. It nourishes the skin, makes it elastic, radiant, smoothes out the first wrinkles.
The preparation of gelatin is standard, but instead of water you will need to take 100 grams. fresh orange juice. After the gelatin swells, stir and apply to the face for 20 minutes. Rinse off with a hot towel or steam bath.
With gelatin for aging skin
And this is a Nifertiti mask for real ladies over 40. Gelatin with oil quickly restores relief, nourishes with vitamins, and replenishes the lack of minerals. We fill the gelatin not with water, but with milk, and heat it in a water bath. Add 1 tbsp. spoon of butter, knead and apply for 20 minutes.
Rinse off with warm water or a tampon, dipping it in warm milk. It is important to use quality butter. If you are not sure whether it is a spread or oil, it is better to refuse cooking. Personally, I rarely use this mask precisely because I am not one hundred percent sure of the quality of the product.
Mask with gelatin and avocado to moisturize dry skin
A gelatin mask is simply designed for dry skin, and if you add avocado to it, you will definitely be pleased with the result!
For this you need:
- dissolve gelatin in water in a ratio of 1:5
- dissolve it in a water bath
- cool and add the grated avocado pulp, mix everything well
- lubricate your cleansed face with the mixture
- rinse with cool water after 25 minutes
Before making a mask, we study the recommendations
There are a number of rules that must be followed in order for the result to please us:
- We use only natural products (not synthetic) with a valid shelf life . Fresh gelatin should be light yellow in color and odorless.
- Before starting the procedure, steam your face over a container of hot water, covered with a thick towel. You can add a tablespoon of some medicinal herb to the water - string, chamomile, linden, calendula, etc. We focus on your skin type.
- The mixture for the mask should be warm . If time is lost and the composition begins to harden, you need to slightly heat it in a water bath.
- Apply the composition along the massage lines with a brush or fingertips.
- Do not apply the mixture to the area around the eyes! It is better to immediately lubricate these delicate areas with nourishing or regular baby cream to mark the forbidden territory.
- To avoid painful sensations during film removal, you do not need to apply the composition to places where there may be hairs (eyebrows, above the upper lip, at the border with the scalp).
- You can apply the mask only to problem areas - for example, forehead, cheeks, nose, chin.
- In order for the composition to lay evenly and neatly, you do not need to talk or smile while applying the mixture.
- Keep the composition on your face for no more than 30 minutes.
- Before applying the mask to your face, apply the composition to your wrist (for 10-15 minutes) to make sure that you are not allergic to any component.
- Carefully remove the film so as not to cause skin irritation. Residues can be easily removed with warm water. Then rinse your face with cold water or wipe it with a piece of ice (to close the pores ).
- If the film is difficult to remove, you can apply fatty cosmetic milk or cream with a swab. In a couple of minutes everything will come off without any problems.
- After the procedure, it is advisable to apply a nourishing cream .
After the course of procedures, we take a two-month break (it can be longer if the achieved result continues to please).
Tips for using a gelatin mask
When making a gelatin mask, you need to follow some recommendations to avoid some unpleasant moments:
- Make sure that the mask does not get on your hair. Gelatin is unpleasant and will be very difficult to wash out of your hair. To do this, hide them under a bandage and carefully apply the mixture to your face so that the mask does not get on your eyebrows.
- If the mask does get on your hair or eyebrows, wait until it dries, remove it from your face and wash the gelatin with water.
- Apply the cleansing mask in several layers and remove it only after complete drying, otherwise the film will come off in pieces and you will spend much longer
- Moisturizing, rejuvenating, tightening and nourishing masks with gelatin should be washed off the face with warm water, and not removed with film.
Just a little effort and your skin will be clean and soft, there will be no trace of blackheads, and expression lines will become almost invisible.
Gelatin face mask: reviews and photos
Liana, 26 years old. I often make gelatin masks. Before this, I bought film masks in stores, and then I read about gelatin on the Internet and decided to try it. The result is almost the same, but the mask is made from natural ingredients and without any chemicals. Now I do it once, sometimes twice a week. I completely got rid of blackheads, and some small wrinkles also disappeared.
Anna, 22 years old. Wonderful mask. I’m doing this for the first week, I’ve only done the mask twice so far, but the result, as they say, is already on the face, or rather on the face. The skin is tightened and looks fresher than before. The main thing is not to stop doing.
Julia, 30 years old. I’ve been making gelatin-based masks for a long time now, the main thing is to cleanse your face well before the mask, otherwise the result is not so visible. I make a mask from white clay, just in time to cleanse the skin while the gelatin swells. Just don’t make a mask with gelatin and clay at the same time - it doesn’t work, only one at a time.
Inga, 34 years old. I didn’t even realize that gelatin contains collagen. I have already done the mask several times and the results are already visible. And creams and masks from stores are so expensive! I was recently choosing one for myself until I came across gelatin, and now I won’t buy them.
Recipes for milk-gelatin cosmetics
A mask is prepared from gelatin and milk, in fact, from the already mentioned products. To make it as suitable as possible for each skin type, you can slightly change the recipe. Here are some options for successfully compiling natural products:
- gelatin, milk, butter (a teaspoon) - for aging or dry skin;
- 1 tsp each main products + 1 tbsp. l. cottage cheese and fruit juice - the product perfectly tones, cleanses, moisturizes, is suitable for mature skin, and has softening properties;
- beaten egg, milk (2 tbsp.) and 1 tbsp. l. gelatin - the mask fights age-related problems (wrinkles, loose skin, blurry facial contours);
- the main components (in the same quantities as in the previous mask) are additionally diluted with juice obtained from a medium cucumber; This is cosmetics for sagging skin: tones, improves complexion, refreshes.
