Deep cleansing of facial skin

A little theory

Everyday life “gives” us not only a lot of impressions, but also not the most favorable additions in the form of dust particles, harmful microorganisms and dangerous chemical compounds, which literally abound in the atmosphere of modern megacities. The situation becomes significantly more complicated if you neglect to carefully remove makeup remnants every night and simple procedures such as toning and moisturizing. All of the above problems come to the aid of a relatively “radical” but extremely effective procedure - deep cleansing, which involves the gentle removal of dead (keratinized) epidermal cells.

Of course, such a method of home care cannot be compared in terms of aggressiveness of the impact (and the final result) with chemical peels for the face performed in a salon. However, when done correctly, deep exfoliation can get rid of most environmental products.

As for the optimal frequency, cosmetologists-dermatologists recommend performing a similar procedure 2 or 3 times weekly, using not dubious “mass market” products, but high-quality professional facial cosmetics intended for salon use, which can also be successfully used at home.

Hardware techniques

Ultrasonic facial cleansing

Today, several types of hardware cleaning are known, among which ultrasonic cleaning is the most popular. Ultrasonic cleaning allows you to remove superficial keratinized layers of the epidermis, cleanse pores of impurities, and remove excess sebum. The advantage of this technique is that the skin remains intact, there is no irritation or redness on the face, it does not need to be steamed first, and there is no pain.

Today, several types of hardware cleansing are known, among which the most suitable is ultrasonic cleansing, which is suitable for almost everyone; this technique helps improve metabolism in all layers of the skin, stimulates the production of elastin and collagen. It lasts about 30 – 40 minutes.

Vacuum facial cleansing is another type of hardware treatment that is practically painless and very effective. Using a special drainage tube and a corresponding device that works like a vacuum cleaner, only with a vacuum, impurities, comedones and sebaceous plugs are sucked out and removed from the steamed, prepared skin. In this case, a lymphatic drainage effect occurs, local blood circulation improves, and the epidermis is saturated with oxygen.

The advantages of this technique are that there is no pain, the process is completely safe and hygienic, and there is no risk of infection. Cosmetologists recommend the vacuum technique for owners of oily, combination skin. However, it is contraindicated for people with very dirty skin, those who have weak blood vessels and a tendency to rosacea.

Galvanic disincrustation or galvanic cleaning is a deep cleansing of pores using galvanic current and a special disincrustant solution. This type of cleansing can be called combined, hardware-chemical, since during such an effect the galvanic current helps to loosen the epidermis, increase vascular permeability and intensify cellular metabolism, due to which the solution penetrates deep inside, dissolving residual sebum and other impurities in the pores.

For minor stains, this effect can completely clean the pores; for deeper problems, it can be supplemented with subsequent mechanical cleaning. This procedure is not recommended for severe purulent inflammation, during pregnancy, dermatitis and extensive damage to the skin.

Deep cleaning using a laser is also popular. During this procedure, the upper layers of the epidermis seem to evaporate, along with deep impurities, acne and scars. The same technique is used to combat wrinkles. Its advantages are that it has a mild effect and there is no risk of infection. Laser peeling helps to activate metabolic processes, stimulate cell function, saturate the skin with oxygen, after which redness and increased sensitivity may persist in the affected areas for up to 4 days.

Effect of the procedure

The result of deep skin cleansing carried out according to all the rules will not only be getting rid of external impurities, bacteria and other similar problems. In addition, this procedure opens clogged pores, removes cell layers of the keratinized layer of the epidermis, prevents the development of hyperkeratosis, improves metabolic processes in the skin, optimizing lymph and blood flow.

With regular weekly deep cleansing sessions, facial skin acquires strong immunity to the aggressive effects of the outside world, as well as the ability to quickly recover from minor mechanical and chemical damage.

Why deep cleanse your facial skin and how often to do it

The face remains open in any weather. During the hot season, the skin suffers from the scorching sun, dust and dry wind. In winter, frost attacks, and on some days the face is exposed to high humidity.

Over time, the upper epithelium dies. If it is not removed, normal metabolism is disrupted in the upper layers, and toxins and waste accumulate. Sometimes the pores become clogged with sebum and cannot breathe freely. Deep cleansing of facial skin is not only beneficial, but also necessary for a radiant appearance and health.

The intervals between deep cleansing procedures depend on your skin type and condition. For those who suffer from acne rashes and inflammations, it would not hurt to carry out cleansing procedures once every 10-14 days.

Oily skin requires special attention. Comprehensive care with cleansing of pores is required every 2 weeks. For normal and dry skin, it is enough to cleanse every month. Everything is good in moderation. Do not overuse strong cosmetics.

What tools to use

Currently, manufacturers of salon cosmetics offer consumers a choice of several main types of products:

  • Peelings for salon and home use . Peeling lotions can be included in a separate category (for example, the corresponding special line of the famous Israeli cosmetics brand ADN, which includes renewing, rejuvenating and regenerating peeling compositions-lotions for the face).
  • Scrubs . Well-known cosmetics that have long been popular due to their effectiveness combined with ease of use. At the same time, you can buy a face scrub that has a gel-like consistency (for example, SynCare gel scrub) or one of the traditional cream scrubs, which are available in a large assortment in the catalog of almost any manufacturer of professional facial cosmetics.
  • Gommages are delicate peelings that not only gently cleanse, but also soften the skin of the face. An example of such a product is a gommage cream with vitamin C, pearl powder and rowan oil - a product included in the salon series of Czech cosmetics SynCare.
  • Natural clay masks are another highly effective way to deeply cleanse the skin of the face without injuring or drying it out (subject to complex use with emollients and moisturizers selected by a cosmetologist).

Deep cleansing of different types of facial skin

Of course, the most problematic type of facial skin, which is prone to frequent inflammation and acne, needs the closest attention. Owners of oily and combination skin, prone to intense sebum production, need facial scrubs and peels like air - after all, such professional cosmetics remove not only impurities and dead cells, but also fat that is actively secreted throughout the day.

The only point that should never be neglected is a strict ban on the deep cleaning stage during the period of acne inflammation.

As for specific products for the care of oily/problem skin, as well as combination skin, we can recommend the soft gel aqua scrub “Sea Cocktail” from Premium, which contains delicate abrasive particles from natural diatoms. In addition to contaminants, the drug effectively fights hyperkeratosis and comedones, and can be used as a prevention of inflammatory processes. Another deep cleanser recommended by dermatologists is the Sandy Lagoon cream soap (Premium Homework series) with natural volcanic sand.

Care for dry and sensitive skin

In turn, dry skin (especially aging skin) has its own “set” of characteristic problems that need to be taken into account when choosing cleansing cosmetics for the face. Thus, the gentle Aquamarine scrub from the Premium Professional salon line, which includes ultra-fine and minimally traumatic particles, has a very delicate effect on thin, dry skin with a tendency to irritation and peeling, and also provides the effect of microdermabrasion.

A real boon for those with dry, sensitive or aging skin will be the Tropic enzymatic peeling with vitamin E, as well as the Sandy Lagoon cream soap and the Neo Skin soft abrasive phytoscrub (both products are included in the Premium brand catalog and are ideal for regular care of delicate dry skin at home).

There are also universal solutions, each of which can be used with equal success for deep cleansing of any skin type. In particular, this includes products from the same line of professional facial cosmetics Premium Homework: “Milk mousse” peeling with yogurt proteins and lactic acid, a scrub with jojoba granules, as well as gel peeling with AHA 8%, which can be called a kind of homemade ( the most gentle) alternative to salon chemical peeling for the face with fruit acids.

Deep cleaning at home

Unfortunately, regular face masks are not capable of providing the same deep cleansing as salon treatments. A more intense effect is required, which can not only exfoliate the skin and rid it of surface impurities, but also remove plugs from the pores.

All the procedures listed above were until recently classified exclusively as salon procedures. But manufacturers of cosmetics, as well as personal care devices, took into account the fact that modern girls’ pace of life does not always allow them to devote time to cosmetologists. As a result, products appeared on store shelves with which you can carry out many salon procedures yourself.

Deep facial cleansing at home is effective, but it must be done carefully. It is very important to maintain sterile conditions and to adhere to the proper way of using cosmetics and devices.

At home, you can do all of the above types of cleaning, with the exception of deep chemical peeling. But for this you need to purchase additional products: products with acids, an ultrasonic, vacuum or galvanizing device, and accompanying cosmetic products.

The stages of home procedures correspond to those in the salon. At the same time, you can give some tips that will help you carry out deep cleaning effectively and without negative consequences.

  • Before any manipulation, the skin and instruments used must be treated with hydrogen peroxide.
  • There are several ways to open pores for further cleansing. If you have a special mask and lotion, then you should use them. Otherwise, classic steaming will do. It is necessary to prepare hot water or a decoction of any herbs (chamomile or calendula are best) and pour it into a large container. Lower your head over the dishes, but not too low so as not to burn your face with the steam, and cover with a towel. After 15 minutes you can begin cleansing.
  • In any procedure, moderate impact is very important - do not squeeze out blackheads too actively during mechanical cleaning.
  • Each skin care device comes with instructions. It is imperative to study it and strictly follow the instructions, observing the necessary settings, duration of use, etc.
  • The skin and all applied attachments should be disinfected not only before, but also after the procedure.
  • An important rule concerns skin care after cleansing: for at least several hours (or better yet the next 24 hours), you should not apply decorative cosmetics or perform other cosmetic procedures on your face.
  • Narrowing the pores after cleansing is a mandatory procedure. It is better to choose a product for this purpose from the range of professional brands of caring cosmetics.

Thus, we can say that home deep facial cleansing, subject to sterility conditions and other rules, is not inferior in results to salon ones.
