Microcurrents for the face, a general idea of the procedure
Microcurrents for the face are a special type of physiotherapy, the main goal of which is to rejuvenate the skin using pulsed current, which has an extremely positive effect.
This effect is based on weak pulsed currents, whose characteristics are in many ways similar to the electrical impulses of the human body.
The soft, delicate effect of microcurrents at the cellular level leads to a significant improvement in blood microcirculation and acceleration of metabolic processes.
In addition, it has a beneficial effect on the vascular system, muscles, and subcutaneous fatty tissue. The result of this influence is:
- normalizing the electrical charge in cell membranes;
- ATP synthesis increases many times (by 500%) and amino acid transport (by 30-40%);
- blood microcirculation becomes better, which means that all the required nutrients and oxygen will be delivered to the cells faster;
- cellular regeneration, synthesis of hyaluronic acid, collagen and elastin proteins occurs at a faster pace;
- changes also occur in the muscular lining of the blood vessels - its tone noticeably increases. But with permeability, on the contrary, a problem arises; it decreases. As a result of this, lymphatic outflow increases, toxins and metabolic products are quickly removed from the cells.
These procedures are carried out on special devices that generate current. This is done using electrodes of various shapes and structures.
Such procedures are especially useful for aging skin. Due to the fact that the alternating current parameters are insignificant, the procedures are not addictive and each session is perceived by the body as something new and useful.
Nuface Mini - microcurrents for home use
After a certain age, it becomes more and more difficult to solve some problems only with cosmetics. And if you can wage a war against wrinkles for quite a long time and successfully, then no cream will restore the loss of elasticity. And if the oval began to float, then before you had to either resign yourself or turn to more radical methods. But how lucky we are that we live in an age when new technologies become quickly accessible, and the Internet allows you to learn about any new products even on the other side of the globe. So let's talk about one sensational device for maintaining youth and beauty.
The NuFace Facial Toner uses microcurrent technology.
Why is this technology good and why is it effective? (Further information was taken from the manufacturer’s official website and presented as I understand it) Microcurrents are impulses that are similar in their characteristics to the electrical impulses of our body. Due to this, they have a beneficial effect on cells and improve many processes at the cellular level. For example, they stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, improve blood microcirculation and muscle tone. This technology should not be confused with myostimulation; muscle contraction does not occur and, when used correctly, does not cause any unpleasant sensations.
We seem to have sorted out the technology, let's now talk about the device itself. The device is packaged in a beautiful white box, on top it is “wrapped” in cardboard with information about the product. I have the Mini version in limited silver color. In terms of impact strength, it does not differ from the older version. The only difference is that mini is a monolithic device; there is no possibility of changing attachments.
The set includes:
— the device itself; — gel for procedures; - a charging cord, while in my set there was an option of two plugs - British and European, it is better to clarify this issue before purchasing, otherwise you will have to use adapters; — brief instructions for performing a massage; - manual; — an advertising postcard with other brand products.
The device itself looks very funny because of its metal working heads. But at the same time, the design is very stylish and modern. The mini version is really compact, weighs little and fits in the palm of your hand. On the front side we see a button and a light indicator scale. To turn on the device, press the button once. With the following presses you can select the strength of influence from three. The device automatically turns off after 5 minutes, but you can turn it off at any time with a long press.
Before first use, you must charge the device for 16 hours. During charging, the indicator lights run, as soon as the charge is full they will stop. What is surprising and undoubtedly very pleasing is that, despite its size, the device holds a charge for a very long time - in 6 months of use I had to “feed” it only two or three times. It is worth noting that the massager is not moisture resistant and cannot be wet!
After the procedure, you just need to wipe the working heads with a soft cloth.
Mode of application:
The manufacturer recommends using the device at least 5 times a week for the first 60 days, and then performing maintenance procedures 2-3 times a week. There are 2 schemes of use: standard five-minute and intensive lifting treatment, which lasts 15 minutes.
The video explains all the steps in detail, but I’ll summarize briefly:
1. Cleanse the skin. Mentally divide your face into 4 parts: left and right cheeks, left and right sides of the forehead. 2. Apply primer to the first part and massage according to the scheme. Repeat 3 times in the zone. Each “slide” must be done within 5 seconds, the device will sound a prompt when you need to rearrange the massager for a new movement. 3. Having finished with one zone, we move on to another - apply primer and massage. 4. Wash off the primer (it’s this gray one that needs to be removed from the face, but they also have leave-in primers in their line) 5. Apply your usual skincare
I have no questions about the massage itself, but I don’t like applying primer separately to each zone. I think that at this time it is better to swipe the face a couple of times additionally. I also like to apply serums under the primer (by the way, this is what the manufacturer itself recommends). Therefore, I do the following: 1. Sprinkle a cleansed face with tonic or floral water, apply serum; 2. I take a portion of primer the size of a large pea and put 4 dots on each of the four zones; 3. I smear it on the first zone and do a massage. Then I move on to the next one - smear the primer, massage and so on. 4. If the face dries out and the primer becomes insufficient, then I simply spray it with toner; 5. I wash off the primer and apply the treatment.
What are the main tricks you need to know when using a massager:
1. Under no circumstances
should you
use fat-containing products, both for the massage itself and for cleansing before. As I understand it, this is due to poor electrical conductivity of oily substances. In this case, the current does not pass to the required depth, but accumulates on the surface of the skin and does not cause anything other than unpleasant sensations (the Chukchi is not a physicist, if anything) 2. The treated area should be well moisturized, and it is a pity to apply a lot of gel. It also dries out (especially during an intensive procedure). That's why I use an additional toner in the form of a spray. If the skin is not wet enough, then the procedure becomes unpleasant - the current “runs” across the skin and it hurts a little, whereas with wet skin it is not felt at all. 3. In addition to original primers, you can use any products with a gel texture; several points are important in their choice: the absence of oils in the composition, low absorption into the skin or long drying time. Aloe gel, ultrasound gel and the like are suitable. I also do it on a mask from Kiehl's with calendula and aloe, you just need to keep it for about 5 minutes. I also tried to do it on fabric masks, but I am not sure that the current passes where it is needed. Still, such a mask has its own thickness. 4. Don't rush! Pull one movement as stated - 5 seconds. The device will tell you when to change position. These five minutes are yours, relax and enjoy!
In general, I have developed a rule for myself: “If there are unpleasant sensations, then the product was chosen incorrectly and something is going wrong, and if there are no sensations at all, everything is going as it should.”
.
By the way, I still haven’t run out of primer. Either I'm so economical, or he's economical
Phew, that’s a lot of text, it’s time to find out whether this device does anything useful and whether I like the effect.
"Yes! Yes! Yes! I love this device!” - I will answer you. After the first procedures, the skin becomes more “alive” and elastic. The complexion becomes healthier.
Effect on wrinkles:
I have few wrinkles, they are only mimic and shallow. Problem areas are the nasolabial lips, forehead and horizontal line between the eyebrows. All these places have smoothed out quite well, although they have not disappeared. But again, I repeat that my wrinkles are shallow. I even changed my mind about injecting Botox between the eyebrows, since it will definitely wait a couple more years.
Effect on turgor and oval
I have problems with this, but they are not related to age and muscle loss, but to excess weight. That’s why I didn’t notice any drastic changes with the oval, but it’s clear that you can’t tighten up the fat. But that the device works with skin tone is undeniable. The pore pattern has become clearer, the skin has become denser. And the fact that the wrinkles have smoothed out means that the skin has become more elastic. I think that the device will cope better with age-related blurring of contours.
The only downside here is the price, but taking into account how long the device will serve and how many procedures will be performed, I consider the investment justified.
I like this baby so much that I plan, when my copy becomes obsolete in a couple of years (or I suddenly become rich), to buy the older version and an attachment for the eyes and nose to boot.

How is microcurrent therapy performed?
The effectiveness of microcurrent therapy has been tested by time. In addition to the fact that electrochemical processes in cells are normalized, this method helps to maintain the further functioning of cells.
Microcurrent therapy can be performed in two ways:
- The first method involves cleansing the skin before the session and applying a guide base (cream, gel or tonic will do). After this, for each individual you need to select the intensity of the electrode action and the procedure starts. The cosmetologist spends at least half an hour performing rotational movements on the skin of the face with an electrode. The session ends with the application of gel or cream. This is necessary so that the skin calms down and is protected.
- The second method differs from the previous one in that before starting all actions, a special thermal mask is applied to the skin of the face, on top of which a film is distributed. The cosmetologist performs a special massage with his hands, which are worn with gloves with electrodes built into them and connected.
These sessions do not differ significantly, with the exception of the type of microcurrent therapy, the technique used by the specialist and the features of the device models.
You can see firsthand how the microcurrent therapy procedure works in the video below:
6-7 days before the microcurrent procedure, it is necessary to exclude protein foods from the diet.
During the sessions, it is recommended to give up alcohol, smoking and drinking coffee, and try to get more rest.
Conducting sessions
Cosmetic massage technique using Fohou bioenergy massager
similar to the traditional one in that it is carried out along facial lines. It is necessary to place the client comfortably on a horizontal surface. A small cushion must be placed under the neck to support the head in the correct position.
Massage gel is applied to the skin
. The procedure begins with soft stroking from the middle of the forehead to the temples, then the nasolabial triangle is covered, special attention is paid to the contour of the face and the chin area. The impact on active points gradually intensifies. Pressure is applied, alternating with smooth rocking and subsequent fixation of the points.
The eyelid area requires a special approach and movements become weightless, turning into light touches. The use of muscle force is not required; contact of the gloves with the skin is sufficient.
Next comes the neck and décolleté area. You can act more boldly, increasing the amplitude and intensity of movements. It should be noted that the work is carried out only on moisturized skin in order to increase its permeability and increase the effectiveness of the effect.

To care for facial skin, the corporation has developed a unique FOHOW HERBARTY
, which includes all the necessary components for quality care.
It is especially effective after a facial massage with BEM
and will prolong youth for many years, stopping age-related changes.
Duration of the course (taking into account age)
The results obtained last for about 6 months. It all depends on the characteristics of the patient’s skin.
To achieve a positive effect, it is worth taking the course. Basically its duration is as follows:
- Young girls under 30 years of age. Use for prevention. The course does not last long.
- Women under 40. Cosmetologists often prescribe about 5-6 sessions, which should be carried out once every 7 days.
- Ladies under 50 years old. The course increases to 8-12 manipulations. They need to be carried out at intervals: once every 3 days.
- Women after 50 years. The duration of the course is determined by the doctor. 1-2 days between sessions is enough.
Safety and pain of the procedure
Microcurrent therapy is a method of rejuvenation without harm to health, since the effect on the human body is carried out by natural factors. The procedure does not involve the use of high temperatures or trauma to the skin. It is comfortable and even causes pleasant sensations, which helps the client relax and improve the result.
Sometimes during exposure to microcurrents, the skin may feel a slight tingling or redness may be observed at the sites of contact with the electrodes. The reason for this is most often the low pain threshold and sensitivity of the client’s skin. The problem can be solved by consulting a dermatologist and selecting a suitable treatment regimen.
Types of microcurrent therapy
Cosmetology salons offer more than one type of procedure of this kind. You can choose any one. The most popular are:
- lymphatic drainage;
- reprogramming of facial muscles;
- microcurrent lifting of the skin of the face and neck;
- microiontophoresis;
- disincrustation.
Microcurrent lymphatic drainage is based on the process of releasing excess fluid from tissues. After 22 years, blood flow in the facial skin leaves much to be desired, and fluid stagnates in the interstitial space.
Here, an accumulation of cell waste products occurs, which leads to damage to facial tissues. Lymphatic drainage copes well with this problem, eliminates circles, and removes swelling under the eyes.
Reprogramming the facial muscles aims to restore nutrition and tone of the facial muscles. This is a brilliant alternative to Botox. As a result of the influence of microcurrents on the epidermis, the muscles completely relax.
Thanks to neck and face lifting carried out using microcurrents, you can expect to get rid of wrinkles and sagging skin, in addition, the tone of the facial muscles will noticeably increase.
But this procedure also has the disadvantage of high stimulation activity. Using conventional equipment, you can encounter certain problems - deepening of facial wrinkles and exacerbation of neuritis.
Electrodes should not be placed in the area of the heart, blood vessels of the neck or eyes.
Ionic mesotherapy is one of the most intensive procedures performed using microcurrent. Therapeutic sessions have a positive effect on pores, relieve swelling and scars.
The skin of the face is rejuvenated. During mesotherapy, no deformation or damage to tissue occurs; other procedures using microcurrent cannot boast of this.
Thanks to microcurrent, amazing results can be achieved in cosmetology practice. This becomes possible thanks to:
- stimulation of tissue nutrition and hydration;
- restoration of the correct functioning of the sebaceous and sweat glands;
- stimulation of local immunity, which leads to the prevention of the development of inflammatory processes;
- the porosity of the skin decreases.
An unusual, but already very popular method, has a number of advantages. The procedure is painless, no rehabilitation period is required. The effect is maintained for at least 3 months.
The result of the technique is impressive - the complexion becomes fresher, puffiness goes away, and the tone of the facial muscles increases.
Microcurrent operating principle
Microcurrent - electrical impulses with a maximum output power of up to 500 microamps and a frequency of up to 500 Hertz, which primarily affect lymphatic vessels and muscle fibers. Such current parameters are close to the natural currents of the human body, therefore they are also called biocurrents. They normalize the electrical balance of cell membranes, thereby improving metabolism and the course of biochemical processes. Under the influence of microcurrent, the breakdown of melanin is accelerated, the synthesis of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid is stimulated, tissue regeneration is activated, lymph outflow and venous blood microcirculation are improved. Thanks to this mechanism of action on the skin and muscles, microcurrent therapy has the following effects:
- facelift;
- elimination of small wrinkles;
- skin whitening;
- normalization of fluid balance;
- increasing skin immunity;
- increasing skin tone;
- normalization of the sebaceous glands;
- lipolysis;
- improving the condition of the scalp and hair;
- removal of scars and others.
Microcurrent therapy using stationary electrodes is most convenient for both the cosmetologist and the client.
Microcurrent therapy can be used as an independent method, but the greatest effectiveness is shown in its combination with the use of special cosmetic or medical products aimed at eliminating a specific problem.
Question answer
Positive changes can be noticed after just one procedure, but for maximum effect it is worth taking about 5-6 sessions. As a result, muscle tone will be normalized, skin color will improve, swelling will decrease, and elasticity will increase. Microcurrents can gradually cope with pigmentation, dryness, and increased sensitivity.
One of the advantages of microcurrents is the absence of pain. The only thing you feel is a slight tingling sensation.
Microcurrent therapy will be beneficial only at the initial stage of pathology development. In the future, it will not harm a person, it will have a positive effect on the condition of the skin, but it will not be able to cope with obvious spider veins.
What is microcurrent therapy and what is its essence?
Microcurrent therapy (MTT, microcurrents) is a physiotherapeutic procedure that involves influencing the face, body, muscle mass and blood circulation using low-voltage, low-voltage electric currents of different frequencies. They are able to penetrate cells without damaging their membranes and activate various biochemical processes there.
This happens due to the effect on the membrane of electricity supplied in short pulses. As a result, intracellular metabolism improves (transport of amino acids, production of AIF), blood circulation in tissues, strengthens the walls of blood vessels, and normalizes the functioning of fibroblasts that promote the production of their own collagen and elastin.
Microcurrents trigger the process of deep self-healing of the skin at the level of the epidermis and dermis, and resume the functioning of various tissues. This helps to rejuvenate the skin from the inside, regenerate its structure, increase tone, and improve color.
Thanks to low-frequency impulses, the active components of medicinal/cosmetic products penetrate deep into the skin structure, and the effect of their influence is enhanced and retained for a long time. Therefore, neuromuscular stimulation with microcurrents is a component of programs for the correction of age-related changes, therapeutic and rehabilitation complexes for the face, body, and scalp.
Indications for microcurrent facial therapy
Before deciding to conduct a restorative microcurrent procedure, you need to know in what situations such sessions can and should be carried out.
INDICATIONS
- the appearance of numerous acne and rosacea;
- sagging skin;
- development of dermatosis and atopic dermatitis;
- the appearance of facial wrinkles;
- presence of pigmentation or earthy complexion;
- increased muscle tone;
- persistent damage to skin vessels;
- the presence of stretch marks and scars;
- aging and very dry skin;
- swelling of the face.
Microcurrent therapy is the only hardware technique used both to prepare the face and body for plastic surgery, and for the purpose of successfully completing the rehabilitation period.
Microcurrent treatment in combination with other cosmetic procedures can only have a beneficial effect on the condition of the skin.
Indications
Cosmetologists successfully use the following technique:
- when certain areas of tissue sag on the cheeks, chin or in order to restore the oval of the face;
- to eliminate existing wrinkles and prevent the appearance of new ones;
- when restoring the water balance of dry or sensitive dermis;
- during the period of preoperative preparation;
- in the postoperative, recovery period;
- The method has shown good results in the treatment of skin diseases - acne, post-acne, rosacea and rosacea.
- to eliminate edema and lymphostasis;
- with senile symptoms.
Contraindications for the procedure
When conducting microcurrent facial therapy, it is important to take into account the individual characteristics of each organism and take into account the presence of certain ailments in a person.
Not everyone is allowed to use microcurrents. There are also contraindications that you need to be aware of.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
- pregnancy;
- breastfeeding period;
- individual intolerance to microcurrents;
- oncological diseases and the presence of benign formations;
- severe thrombophlebitis;
- a condition when there are serious pathologies of internal organs;
- recently suffered a heart attack, stroke;
- seizures (especially epilepsy);
- the presence of metal objects (meaning pacemakers, pins in bones);
- recently undergone chemical peeling of the face.
Microcurrent therapy should not be performed on people with mental illness, alcoholics or drug addicts.
If contraindications have been taken into account and the patient does not have them, then the risk of unpleasant consequences is reduced to zero.
If you experience discomfort during manipulation, you should ask the doctor to reduce the intensity of the currents.
Experts' opinion
Microcurrent facial therapy is just an effective physiotherapeutic procedure that significantly improves the condition of the skin, but cannot fully become an alternative to surgical intervention. If the problem is seriously advanced, there are deep wrinkles, only a plastic surgeon can radically improve your appearance. At the same time, if microcurrent massage procedures are regularly performed with the appearance of the first age-related changes, it will be possible to significantly delay the aging process. The lifting effect of the procedure is truly amazing!
Postoperative rehabilitation using electrical impulses gives good results. The current quickly relieves swelling and stimulates blood circulation. Thanks to this, sutures and scars quickly dissolve.
Microcurrents and microstimulation - what's the difference?
Many women confuse concepts such as microstimulation and microcurrents, although these procedures are completely different. Each of them is based on the effect of current.
However, microcurrents simply penetrate deep into damaged areas of the cell, stimulate their restoration, and accelerate metabolic processes. In this case, muscle contraction does not occur.
With microstimulation, the current causes the facial muscles to alternately contract and relax.
Microcurrents or microstimulation, which is better, is determined by a specialist for each specific case.
If you have other aesthetic procedures
It would be more accurate to say that microcurrent therapy is not compatible with certain types of aesthetic procedures, for example, botulinum therapy or facial contouring with fillers. These popular techniques are mutually exclusive. If, along with botulinum toxin injections and/or fillers to restore volume, you also practice microcurrent therapy, be aware: the effect of the first two procedures will not be durable. Microcurrents, like massage and lymphatic drainage, actively stimulate blood circulation and enhance metabolism. As a result, the facial muscles immobilized by botulinum toxin are quickly restored, and the fillers are absorbed.
Microcurrent therapy at home - myth or reality
You can purchase devices used for microcurrent procedures and perform cosmetology sessions at home.
The result of the procedures depends on the quality of the chosen device, so you should not save money when purchasing equipment for conducting microcurrent.
Among the most popular models of microcurrent devices are the following:
Device name | Description | Estimated cost |
Portable microcurrent therapy device kb-0910A | A Chinese device equipped with two electrode balls that generate electric current. It is equipped with a convenient control panel, which is located on the body of the device and allows, if necessary, to easily adjust the power level. To operate you will need a pair of AA batteries. | 45-50 $ |
Bio Wave m920 Gezatone | The device was made in France. Compact, convenient. The amplitude of the energy impulses ranges from 1.3 to 12 V. Thanks to this, it is possible to perform the procedure of toning the facial muscles. | 30-40 $ |
NuFACE | Manufactured in America by the company of the same name, the device has two conductive heads and operates from a built-in power supply. The device is equipped with an intelligent sensor, whose task is to independently select a skin care program. | 150 $ |
Ionic-Ultratonic m365 Gezatone | The device is produced in France. Has the ability to generate mono and bipolar electrical impulses. Excellent for electrophoresis and microcurrent facial massage. | 60 $ |
First of all, you need to pay attention to the manufacturer. Popular brands are more expensive, but they are of good quality and more reliable, as evidenced by numerous customer reviews.
For use at home, a device with a frequency of 1 to 300 Hz and an electronic pulse strength of 20 to 800 μA is quite suitable.
Using microcurrents on the face on dry skin is very harmful, so a special gel must be used.
An experienced master will not only tell you, but also demonstrate how the skin should be treated, and also advise how long to do it.
Additionally, you can watch videos on relevant topics. It is important to avoid excessive care, because it is harmful to the same extent as its lack.
We recommend visiting a cosmetologist to learn all the rules for carrying out the procedure at home.
What problems does microcurrent therapy help with?
This procedure is recommended for the following indications:
- unhealthy complexion (pallor, yellowness, cyanosis, lack of blush);
- swelling (bags under the eyes);
- the appearance of wrinkles;
- withering (atonicity) of the breast;
- drooping (ptosis) of the soft tissues of the cheeks, chin, appearance of “bulldog cheeks”;
- stretch marks, fresh scars;
- rosacea (rosacea at the initial stage);
- excessive secretion of sebum (seborrhea);
- the appearance of pigment spots;
- cellulite;
- excessive hair loss, alopecia.
On a note:
Also, microcurrents are used to prevent skin aging, early appearance of wrinkles, as a general strengthening agent after cosmetic procedures, to eliminate swelling, prevent lymph stagnation, and rapid healing of scars after plastic surgery.
Cost of microcurrent lifting
The price for one session depends on the type of service and can range from 1200-1500 rubles.
To achieve a confident result, you need to undergo 8-12 procedures with an interval of 2-3 days. After this, it is enough to conduct a maintenance session once every 4 weeks.
Microcurrent therapy is one of the unique modern methods used in cosmetology to restore the firmness and elasticity of facial skin.
If you look at the photo before and after the procedure, you will notice a significant difference - the skin becomes tightened, healthy and youthful, acquires a healthy color and radiance.
Advantages
Despite the combination of some disadvantages and the need for repeated procedures, the method has a number of undeniable advantages over other cosmetological methods of rejuvenation.
These include:
- security level;
- the ability to combine with various cosmetic interventions;
- wide range of indications;
- well tolerated by patients;
- multilateral positive effect on tissue;
- the ability to see improvement immediately after the first session;
The procedure is cost-effective for salons, which makes the cost affordable for clients.

Anna Avaliani
practicing cosmetologist
Microcurrents can be used at any age. If at the age of 20 a girl is faced with some problems that microcurrent therapy can help solve, there are no prohibitions. This procedure is useful for increased dryness or, conversely, oily skin, the appearance of comedones, rosacea.
Alison Pontius
plastic surgeon
I advise you to spend about 8-12 sessions. Sometimes even more or fewer procedures are required. In each case, it is necessary to take into account the individual characteristics of the person. This manipulation is useful for swelling under the eyes and rosacea. I would like to draw your attention to the fact that you should not carry out the procedure if there are any metal particles in the treatment area (for example, braces). There is no need to prepare for microcurrent therapy.
When microcurrents are useless
The main task of such an aesthetic procedure as microcurrent therapy is to normalize physiological processes in facial tissues, which, of course, will have a good effect on any appearance. But not radically.
With pronounced age-related changes
This procedure is often called microcurrent face lifting.
, implying its powerful anti-aging effect. But are microcurrents really a panacea for wrinkles, sagging skin and sagging facial contours? “Of course, as a result of therapy, blood circulation will improve, and therefore skin nutrition, which will make it look fresher,” says our expert. - The swelling will go away and your face will become somewhat slimmer. And by getting rid of the heavy bags under your eyes, you will visually become younger. However, microcurrent therapy will not save you from wrinkles, deep creases and sagging skin. It should not be considered as a technique with a pronounced rejuvenating effect. In this case, this is not its point of application.”
If the face is too full
For a course of microcurrent treatment
Women and girls often sign up in hopes of gaining prominent cheekbones and clear facial contours, getting rid of chubby cheeks and double chins. Does it make sense to spend money and time? “You shouldn’t expect a good result when using microcurrents to try to solve the problem of excess fatty tissue on the face and neck area: the procedure, again, is not aimed at this,” says Tatyana Ponomareva. “Many people simply confuse fat deposits with swelling. It must be said that the effect of microcurrent therapy will not be satisfactory even with edema, if it is severe.” It is also important to note that microcurrents are a course technique. It takes at least 10 sessions to see positive dynamics. “It is advisable to take photographs before and after the start of the course: this will give you the opportunity to compare the results,” advises our expert. — Changes during microcurrent therapy are smooth and not too pronounced. You may simply forget what your face looked like before, but compare it in pictures. The impact procedure itself is quite mild: after the first session you will not notice any changes.”
Reviews
EKATERINA, 37 YEARS OLD, VORONEZH:
“I heard a lot about microcurrent therapy, but I didn’t believe it, I was skeptical.
I'm used to not trusting anything. A friend is familiar with this procedure firsthand; she has long been trying to persuade me to join her, and I succumbed. I want to say that, contrary to all expectations, I was satisfied. I tried ionic mesotherapy. The skin acquired a healthy appearance and glowed with youth. I'll definitely go again."
OLGA VIKTOROVNA, 33 YEARS OLD, VOLGOGRAD:
“I have experienced the use of microcurrent myself more than once.
I want to say that after the first course of treatment I was delighted with the result. Radiant skin, bags under the eyes decreased, wrinkles smoothed out. By the way, the effect lasted for 3 months. The second course no longer had the same effect. The only thing I really like is that the bags under my eyes are reduced after visiting the salon.”
MARINA, 40 YEARS OLD, ENGELS:
“The effect of microcurrents is amazing! It’s so nice when people around you compliment you that you look several years younger! I took one course and will definitely repeat it again.”
ALEXANDRA, 30 YEARS OLD, ROSTOV-ON-DON:
“I tried the microcurrent therapy procedure in the salon, I liked it. However, you often don’t go to salons, so I bought a device and now I will conduct such sessions for myself at home.”
What problems do microcurrents solve?
According to numerous advertising articles on the Internet, microcurrent therapy can eliminate almost all aesthetic problems, including ptosis, deep wrinkles and loss of firmness. But which of all this is true?
“Microcurrents work well for lymphatic drainage,” says Tatyana Ponomareva. “Therefore, this technique can be recommended if you are prone to swelling of the face as a whole or the formation of bags under the eyes. The procedure is also recommended for those who have recently undergone plastic surgery on the face. The rehabilitation period after plastic surgery is usually accompanied by tissue swelling. A microcurrent course will be very useful in such a situation. All other effects that are attributed to this popular technique are very conditional.”
Contraindications
Although MTT is a safe procedure, it has a number of absolute contraindications for use, these are:
- epilepsy;
- cardio- and vascular diseases;
- history of heart attack/stroke;
- oncology;
- acute viral infection, inflammation or chronic disease during an exacerbation period;
- rheumatic diseases;
- pregnancy, lactation;
- the presence in the client’s body of electrical devices (for example, a pacemaker), metal rods, plates, gold threads that are used to tighten the skin;
- postoperative condition (if less than 6 months have passed since surgery);
- injury to the skin with a violation of its integrity in the affected area;
- individual intolerance to electric current.
A relative contraindication to MTT is the presence of metal or metal-ceramic fillings, braces, and a tendency to form herpes. In this case, the cosmetologist must act carefully, choose the right regimen, and avoid the “problem” area. Also, you cannot generate impulses near the carotid artery, moles, or eyeball.
Important:
Microcurrents should be carried out as prescribed by a cosmetologist! During the procedure, no complications should arise, provided that the client is properly examined by a health professional to ensure that he has no contraindications.
Technique of the procedure
The procedure is carried out in several stages:
- The specialist rids the client’s skin of impurities. If facial skin is treated, make-up removal, washing with a special product, and scrubbing are done.
- A gel is applied to the treatment area, which acts as a conductor of current, facilitating deeper and more accurate penetration of impulses.
- Exposure to a device that generates electric current in pulses. For this, 3 types of electrodes are used:
- stationary - cone-shaped and occupying a fixed position;
- movable - equipped with disposable cotton swabs, used to treat sensitive areas (around the eyes, mouth);
- in the form of gloves - comfortable and functional, with their help you can perform facial massage with microcurrents.
Upon completion, the cosmetologist applies a special cream.
The duration of treatment of the cover depends on its area. For the face and décolleté, 20 minutes is enough; if the area is large or the problems are very pronounced, it will take about 40 minutes.
Please note:
The type of electrodes and the intensity of their impact on the skin are selected by a specialist individually, taking into account the client’s physiological data and skin reaction.
What results should I expect and when?
The use of microcurrents allows:
- remove excess fluid and toxic accumulations from the body;
- renew the skin by stimulating the basal layer of the epidermis;
- increase elasticity and skin tone by stimulating fibroblasts that produce collagen and elastin;
- activate metabolic processes in cells, improve blood supply to tissues;
- level out small wrinkles, smooth out deep ones;
- eliminate puffiness, bags and dark circles under the eyes.
The effect of MTT is noticeable after the first exposure. After each subsequent session it increases. Visible changes are observed after 5-6 procedures. After completing the course, the result lasts up to 1 year, but to make it more noticeable, experts recommend performing intermediate maintenance procedures 1 ruble/2-3 months.
The duration of the effect is influenced by a number of factors:
- Lifestyle. Constant smoking, stress, overeating, excessive consumption of sweets, lack of sleep, and lack of water in the body have a negative effect on the skin.
- Diseases occurring in acute and chronic forms.
- Daily care, taking vitamin complexes and minerals.
Before and after the full course
Are there any complications?
The MTT procedure does not threaten human health, but during its implementation individual side effects may be observed, such as:
- slight tingling/tingling;
- metallic taste in the mouth;
- flashes of light or dots before the eyes.
This is a normal reaction of the body associated with its hypersensitivity, which passes over time.
Complications after the procedure can only occur if:
- its incorrect implementation;
- the client has contraindications or an allergic reaction to a certain drug.
Microcurrent facial therapy is not a panacea for various skin problems, but when used correctly, it can significantly improve the condition of the skin, restore it from the inside, and provide a woman with a healthy, radiant appearance.
