Injections for wrinkles around the eyes: recommendations, contraindications and side effects

Contraindications

Not everyone can administer drugs under the skin. The procedure cannot be performed if:

  • exacerbation of chronic diseases;
  • acute respiratory infections, ARVI;
  • feverish condition;
  • individual sensitivity to drug components;
  • the presence of keloid scars;
  • exacerbation of herpes;
  • oncology;
  • insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus;
  • poor blood clotting.

During pregnancy and breastfeeding, cosmetologists also do not advise women to resort to these procedures.

Plasmolifting

The plasmolifting technique involves the subcutaneous administration of platelet plasma obtained from the client’s own blood. That is, after examination and examination, blood is drawn from a vein from the client, after which it is specially processed and injected into problem areas.

In addition to eliminating wrinkles around the eyes, this method will also improve skin color, give it radiance and a healthy appearance.

Sometimes this procedure is performed on patients to treat acne, to combat hair loss, cellulite, etc.

Contraindications

Despite the fact that plasma lifting practically eliminates the occurrence of allergic reactions and other complications due to the use of material obtained from one’s own blood, in some cases it is better to refrain from the procedure. This manipulation has a number of contraindications, these include:

  1. Age under 18 years.
  2. The period of pregnancy and lactation in a woman.
  3. Alcohol or drug addiction.
  4. Menstrual bleeding.
  5. Exacerbation of any chronic disease.
  6. Period of taking antibiotics.
  7. Presence of rashes, inflammatory reactions in the area of the procedure.
  8. Diabetes.
  9. Hemophilia, hypofibrinogenemia and other blood pathologies.
  10. Oncological diseases.
  11. Epilepsy.
  12. Hepatitis.
  13. Any kidney disease.

Given the wide range of contraindications, before the procedure it is necessary to undergo a number of mandatory tests and obtain a physician’s opinion on the absence of contraindications to this procedure.

Mechanism of action

The beneficial effect of subcutaneous injection of plasma into the area around the eyes is due to the fact that red blood cells, when entering problem areas of the skin, release special substances called “growth factors.” These compounds stimulate recovery by promoting the activation of stem cells, increasing the production of collagen, hyaluronic acid, elastin, and also promoting moisture retention.

Also, in the process of processing blood during plasma production, it is saturated with vitamins and amino acids, which has a beneficial effect not only on the condition of the skin, but also on the muscle layer. It is thanks to these mechanisms that smoothing of both crow's feet and eyelid folds is carried out during the plasma lifting procedure.

Stages of the procedure

The entire plasma lifting procedure can be divided into three main stages:

  1. Blood collection. Most often, 50-70 ml of venous blood is taken from the patient.
  2. Preparation of red blood cell plasma. Placed in a special tube that already contains a special gel, the blood is centrifuged. As a result, the required solution (PRP gel) is obtained.
  3. Direct injection of the gel into the area around the eyes. To reduce pain, the skin can first be wiped with ice cubes or lubricated with an anesthetic cream.

On average, the entire procedure takes about 40 minutes.

For 2 days before the procedure, avoid consuming fatty foods, alcohol, blood thinning medications (heparin, aspirin, etc.)

Result

The effect is most often noticeable after the first session, but full results may require 2 to 5 repetitions, and it lasts for 2 years. As a result of plasma lifting, you will not only get rid of wrinkles around the eyes, but also dark circles, hyperpigmentation and many other aesthetic skin defects. After 1.5-2 years, a second course is possible.

Do I need to prepare for beauty injections?

All procedures involving injections involve puncture of the skin with the introduction of the drug into the tissue, and therefore require careful preparation. General recommendations:

  • cessation of drinking alcohol and smoking 2–3 days before the procedure;
  • avoid taking aspirin, ibuprofen-based medications, and other medications that cause dilation of blood vessels.

The main indication for beauty injections is skin condition.

Procedure

Before giving the injection, the specialist:

  • cleanses the skin of makeup;
  • treats the face with an antiseptic;
  • anesthetizes the desired areas by applying a lidocaine-based gel.

What problems can injections help solve?

Many people know that injection therapy is very effective in combating wrinkles around the eyes, but few people are aware of what other problems can be solved using this method, these are:

  • “bags” under the eyes;
  • dark circles under the eyes;
  • hollows under the eyes.

Of course, injections for wrinkles cannot be called a 100% panacea, because this procedure is not suitable for everyone. Like any medical procedure, it must be prescribed according to strict indications. Moreover, different types of injections can be more or less effective in combating a particular problem, so only a cosmetologist can choose the right “beauty injection” for you after a personal examination and a detailed examination.

Recovery period

To ensure a favorable result, cosmetology has precise instructions on what needs to be done upon completion of the procedure. Recommendations from cosmetologists may differ depending on the drug, but there are also general requirements.

Within 2 weeks after injections it is prohibited:

  • apply decorative cosmetics, masks and creams to the face that have not been approved by a specialist;
  • steam in a sauna or steam bath;
  • visit the solarium and sunbathe in the sun;
  • drinking alcohol.

Possible consequences

In places where the skin is punctured, the following may be observed within 1–3 days:

  • bruises and lumps;
  • painful sensations when touched or pressed;
  • slight swelling.

Also, some women complain of headaches. All symptoms must be reported to a specialist.

Types of injections

Before settling on any specific type of therapy, it is advisable to familiarize yourself with all the options that currently exist. So, what do cosmetologists inject under the eyes for wrinkles?

Injection methods to combat aging of the skin around the eyes can be divided into the following main groups:

  1. Plasmolifting.
  2. Mesotherapy.
  3. Contour plastic surgery using fillers.
  4. Botulinum therapy.
  5. Lipofilling.

Each of these procedures has a number of advantages and disadvantages; in order to understand what is better to inject under the eyes, we will dwell in more detail on each of them.

Fillers

Fillers allow you to lift your face, correct its oval, eliminate deep wrinkles and creases in the skin, and add volume to the cheekbones and nose.

The preparations are gel texture products. In terms of effect, they are an alternative to plastic surgery. Their main advantage is the lack of influence on facial expressions.

Fillers are often used to eliminate deep nasolabial folds.

The main components of fillers are:

  • purified silicone (harmful, causing many side effects, prohibited in Europe and the USA);
  • collagen of animal origin or purified human;
  • hyaluronic acid.

A new and rather difficult technology is the introduction of the patient’s own fat as fillers. It is taken in the required quantity during liposuction. After this, the material goes through several stages of processing and is distributed under the skin of the face. Its expensive price is justified. The drug causes virtually no adverse reactions and its results last six months longer.

Fillers have different consistencies. Top-class specialists work with dense textures. It is difficult to distribute them evenly under the skin to avoid the formation of lumps and lumps. But the result after their introduction is visible immediately, the effect lasts longer.

Fillers in the form of a liquid gel are distributed easily and lie flat. The effect is visible almost immediately.

In general, the effect of fillers lasts for a period of 6 – 12 months. They are recommended for women aged 35–50 years.

Description of injections for wrinkles

Anti-wrinkle injections are procedures performed by a specialist in a cosmetology salon. The product is injected under the skin or into facial muscles using a thin needle that leaves no traces. As a result, wrinkles are smoothed and skin condition improves.

The procedure is not inferior to plastic surgery. It has the advantage of a short recovery period and few side effects.

The selection of an injection depends on the patient’s age and the problems that need to be eliminated:

  • various types of wrinkles: around the eyes, between the eyebrows, on the forehead and in the nose area;
  • age-related skin changes that begin after 25-30 years;
  • sagging skin with the formation of a double chin and jowls.

The procedure is almost painless, but if the patient has a high pain threshold, local anesthesia is used.

The beauty injection product is of natural origin and is completely eliminated from the body after 6-9 months. With proper facial care, the resulting effect can last longer.

Note! Several types of injections can be used simultaneously for comprehensive facial rejuvenation.

Botulinum toxin

Preparations based on this neurotoxin effectively fight wrinkles. They act on the nerve endings of the muscles, blocking them and relaxing the tissue. As a result, the skin is smoothed. The obtained result lasts for a period of 6 – 12 months. Afterwards it must be entered again.

Wrinkles smooth out gradually within 2 weeks after administration of the drug.

When administering botulinum toxin, it is prohibited:

  • bend over for several hours after the injection;
  • touch puncture sites on the skin;
  • take antibiotics and drink alcohol for the next two weeks.

The first day you need to monitor the activity of facial expressions.

The full effect of botulinum toxin injection will be visible after two weeks.

The main drugs based on botulinum toxin:

  • Botox (USA);
  • Xeomin (Germany);
  • Dysport (France).

The main difference between them is the different concentration of the active substance and the presence or absence of additional protein complexes. They are recommended for use by women starting from 30 years of age.

Preparations based on botulinum toxins are good at eliminating facial wrinkles.

Pros and cons of injection rejuvenation

If the cosmetologist turns out to be unqualified, the procedure can have disastrous consequences for the face

Anti-wrinkle injections have many benefits. The most important of them is relative safety when compared with radical rejuvenation methods, because the risk of medical error during plastic surgery is very high. However, injections can also be done incorrectly, and then instead of rejuvenation, you can get impaired facial expressions or even nerve damage, however, the risk of such a complication is minimal.

Another undeniable advantage of injections for wrinkles on the face is the minimum rehabilitation period. In fact, there is no rehabilitation as such; you only need to abstain from the sauna and steam bath for several weeks and avoid physical activity for the first days.

The results of the injections are visible very quickly. In some cases, the effect appears immediately after the procedure, in others you need to wait until the drug “settles down,” which takes from several hours to 10 days - it all depends on the substance used.

Disadvantages of anti-wrinkle injections:

  • there are contraindications;
  • the effect is temporary;
  • there is a risk of side effects;
  • quite high cost of drugs.

Injections, unfortunately, do not get rid of wrinkles once and for all. Each drug acts for a certain time and then dissolves. On average, the effect lasts about 6-8 months, and then the procedure must be repeated.

There is a myth that facial injections for wrinkles reduce the production of your own collagen and elastin, as a result, over time, the skin at the injection site “sags” and wrinkles become even larger. Actually this is not true. Injections do not affect collagen production, but only fill existing voids at the site of wrinkles (hyaluronic acid, collagen) or block the activity of facial muscles (Botox). However, if the injection is done incorrectly, new wrinkles may indeed appear, but due to changes in facial expressions, and not the effect of the drug.

Another disadvantage is the high cost of the procedures, but it is not comparable with the price of radical rejuvenation surgery, and on average is 5-6 times lower than plastic surgery. True, injections will have to be done on average every year, but radical rejuvenation gives an effect for many years.

Indications

Modern cosmetology offers different types of injections for wrinkles. The general indication is the presence of visible age-related changes in the skin, creases and facial wrinkles.

Also, with the help of injection cosmetology, you can change the oval of the face, highlight cheekbones, hide imperfections in appearance and emphasize advantages.

Injection procedures have no age restrictions and are performed on all women over 18 years of age. True, young people do not need injections for wrinkles, so girls are offered contouring to accentuate their cheekbones and other types of injections.

There are several different drugs. Hyaluronic acid has no age restrictions, and fillers based on it are offered to young girls. But collagen and Botox are recommended for women over 30 years old. However, it is worth considering that these drugs can also be used for medicinal purposes. For example, collagen injections help disguise deep scars, and Botox is often used to treat bruxism and even in the treatment of migraines.

Thus, each drug is good if used as directed.

Contraindications

Anti-wrinkle injections should not be given while pregnant

Beauty injections have a number of contraindications. Among them:

  • cancer or suspected cancer;
  • acute infectious processes;
  • foci of infection on the face;
  • diabetes;
  • severe cardiovascular diseases;
  • tendency to scarring;
  • dermatological diseases;
  • bleeding disorders and risk of bleeding;
  • pregnancy and lactation.

You should refrain from the procedure if you are feeling generally unwell. ARVI, increased body temperature - all this is a contraindication to injections. In such cases, you need to wait for recovery and only then contact a specialist.

The same is true for areas of inflammation on the face.

Biorevitalization

The procedure involves the introduction of hyaluronic acid-based preparations into the deep layers of the skin. Additionally, peptides, plant extracts, etc. can be added to the injection, at the discretion of the cosmetologist.

Biorevitalization allows the skin to recover, replenish its supply of vitamins, deeply moisturizes the skin and stimulates the production of elastin and collagen by human tissues.

Biorevitalization is a course of injections. Most often it consists of 3 procedures, with a break between them of 2–3 weeks.

Subsequently, it is enough to administer injections once every 2 to 3 months. It is recommended to track the frequency not only by the calendar, but also by the condition of the skin. Biorevitalization is prescribed at the discretion of the cosmetologist, starting from the age of 25.

Treatment with hyaluronic acid - indications

Areas of the face that can be treated with hyaluronic acid injections:

  • horizontal wrinkles on the forehead;

Areas of the face that can benefit from hyaluronic acid injections
Hyaluronic acid treatments can also be performed to revitalize skin throughout the body. The drug is injected into areas such as the décolleté and neck, the back of the hands, and hyaluronic acid can also be used to improve the contour of the buttocks or breasts.

Mesotherapy

This is an injection skin care procedure. During it, mesocotails, which are a set of vitamins that nourish, moisturize and tone the skin, are injected into the deep layers of the skin with a syringe with a thin needle. They allow you to restore its fresh appearance, elasticity and normalize the production of sebum. Particularly effective after summer, when the face has been intensively exposed to harmful UV radiation for several months.

Mesotherapy can also be performed at home. To do this, you need a mesoscooter, an antiseptic, an anesthetic gel and a mesocotail, which should be purchased at the pharmacy.

The procedure is a course of 4 – 6 sessions with breaks of 2 – 3 weeks. The introduction of meso-cocktails is allowed from a young age, from 20 years and older.

Having decided on beauty injections, you need to find a salon or clinic that uses only certified original drugs. Its staff should consist only of qualified specialists who will be able to accurately select the necessary procedure, the administered composition and the volume of the drug in order to achieve the result you need, without spoiling your face, but emphasizing its individual features.

Age-related changes in the skin around the eyes

The reason for the formation of expression lines is the regular contraction and stretching of the skin. Every day we frown, laugh and smile, squint - all this puts a strain on the skin. At some point, thin skin cannot cope with the tension of the orbital muscle, elastin and collagen fibers “break” and wrinkles form.

Plus, exposure to sunlight activates the production of free radicals that attack the skin from the inside. This contributes to the appearance of folds and sagging of the dermis.

Bad habits, frequent stress, lack of sleep, poor diet - all this also negatively affects the condition and appearance of the skin. The area around the eyes is the first to suffer from this.

Taking care of your skin after injections

After rejuvenating the skin with the help of “beauty injections,” you cannot apply any cosmetics to your face or take baths for a whole day. To reduce swelling in your face and avoid bruising and bruising, apply ice to your skin.

Do not take blood-thinning medications and avoid alcohol, antibiotics and eating foods that contain large quantities of vitamin E. During the rehabilitation period and during the course of therapy, you should never sunbathe, visit a sauna, bathhouse or solarium. Before going outside, apply sunscreen with a protection level of at least 20. To restore the skin, you can use tonics designed for sensitive types. Healing products such as Bepanthen or Panthenol are suitable as a replacement for moisturizing creams.
