Cannula or needle: features of administering Hyalual drugs using different methods

Cannulas are used in cosmetology for subcutaneous administration of drugs. The flexible cannula expands and bypasses even small vessels, nerve and muscle fibers without injuring them.

However, it is impossible to replace needles with cannulas - a certain number of skin punctures must be made to administer the product.

Contraindications

Bioreinforcement with hyaluronic acid is contraindicated for:

  • allergic reactions to the components of the drug;
  • pregnancy;
  • breastfeeding;
  • autoimmune diseases;
  • acute or chronic diseases in the acute stage;
  • inflammatory reactions at the injection site;
  • history of using fillers;
  • skin diseases of viral and fungal nature;
  • taking certain groups of medications, including anticoagulants.

Classification and marking of cannulas

Medical cannulas are ophthalmic, intravenous, with an injection port, infusion, and tracheotomy. The following types of soft needles are used in cosmetology:

ClassificationDescription, injection area
21GAllows the introduction of substances with a high degree of viscosity in the form of a gel. Designed to treat the lower third of the face, tighten the oval, correct deep age wrinkles and congenital defects of the skin.
22GThey also allow the administration of fairly viscous medications and are used to correct nasolabial folds, chin, and cheeks.
25GUsed for introducing medium-viscosity and liquid products under the skin. Used to treat the décolleté and neck area.
27GThe viscosity level of the drug is medium or low. Suitable for treating sensitive areas of the skin around the lips, on the hands, under the eyes. These cannulas are also used to administer medications into the nasolacrimal groove.
30GThe thinnest cannulas that allow only liquid medications to be administered subcutaneously. Used to treat the bridge of the nose, temples and forehead.

They also differ in length, diameter of the needle body, and degree of elasticity.

Mechanism of action

The duration of bioreinforcement ranges from 30 to 60 minutes, depending on the area of application and the amount of the administered drug.

The procedure is painless and performed without anesthesia. Injections are made into the fatty layer of the skin, which does not have nerve endings.

After treating the skin with an antiseptic, the cosmetologist makes a puncture through which a soft cannula with hyaluronic acid-based preparations is inserted.

Depending on the depth of injection, the following occurs:

  • smoothing the surface of the face;
  • formation of the oval face, cheekbones, chin;
  • lip augmentation with cannulas.

After the procedure, skin hyperemia may persist for 30 minutes.

Contouring using cannulas is a safe and effective skin rejuvenation procedure. Hyaluronic acid is completely broken down in the body. The long-lasting effect is maintained due to the production of collagen around the drug.

The effect after the procedure is noticeable immediately. The full scope of changes is formed 3 months after the procedure. The result lasts up to 10 – 18 months.

For preventive purposes, bioreinforcement is recommended to be carried out every 6 months.

CONTOUR PLASTY WITH FILLERS PRICES

When is it better to use regular needles?

In contour plastic surgery, a flexible instrument is often used. But there are procedures when you have to choose a needle. The first option allows for a linear, uniform injection of the active composition, and the second allows for pinpoint thin punctures close to the skin surface. The cannula is not suitable here, since its tip is thicker.

Experienced cosmetologists are of the opinion that it is better to correct lips - contour and volume - with a needle. It is also worth choosing for filling deep wrinkles and scars with fillers.

The needle should also be used when the patient needs to reduce the cost of the procedure, since cannulas lead to an increase in the price of the correction.

Not all cosmetologists are qualified to perform the cannula technique for introducing fillers, which is also worth paying attention to.

Disadvantages of the tool

There are many advantages of such a cosmetic tool, but there are also disadvantages:

  1. The qualification requirements for a cosmetologist are quite high. Injecting fillers using a cannula is a complex procedure, so the specialist needs additional training. The doctor must have a good understanding of the location of blood vessels in the tissues in order to work correctly with the device, especially on sensitive areas.
  2. Material consumption. During a session with cannulas, the consumption of the substance used increases by approximately 15%. This is a minus, because cosmetic preparations are usually expensive.
  3. Increased cost of correction. Most often, the compositions are sold in finished form. The kit includes a standard needle. The increase in price of the procedure is caused by the fact that the cosmetology center needs to purchase cannulas separately. Many patients are not satisfied with this option due to the additional costs.
  4. Contraindications. A flexible instrument cannot be used when the patient is undergoing a repeated procedure, and the first one was performed with a needle. The reason is that the needle has previously damaged the integrity of the inner layers of the skin. During the healing process, microscars have formed there, which will be difficult to penetrate with a cannula.

Combine with this

Contour plastic surgery using fillers is a method of rejuvenation and improvement of skin turgor thanks to the introduction of the latest generation drugs created on the basis of hyaluronic acid. This method allows you to get good results after the first session: the skin becomes elastic and smooth, cheekbones and chin become more expressive, and wrinkles are smoothed out.

Advantages of the filler injection method

The cannula for introducing fillers has a design that makes rejuvenation and tightening procedures atraumatic; after the session there are no bruises, lumpiness or other side effects. The advantages of this device for cosmetic procedures:

  1. The soft body of the needle adapts to bends and does not deform. The risks of needle breakage are reduced, the procedure itself does not cause pain or discomfort, since soft materials do not touch the nerve endings.
  2. The risk of bruising and swelling after a microinjection session is reduced by 90%.
  3. Minimum number of cuts. For example, when enlarging the lips, one puncture is made in the corners to insert a cannula, and to lift one cheek, one puncture is made in the temple area and one at the bottom of the face.
  4. Can be used in different areas - in the area of the lower and upper eyelids, around the lips. Needles with a sharp tip when performing a procedure in these areas cause pain, swelling and bruising, and sometimes lead to rupture of the vessel.
  5. The use of cannulas shortens the rehabilitation period and procedure time, and allows simultaneous treatment of large areas of the face in a short time. From one puncture, using a flexible needle, 4–7 areas are immediately penetrated.

To use the cannula technique, the specialist who will perform the procedure must first undergo training. It is necessary to know about the location of arteries, veins, nerve fibers and anatomically dangerous points at the treatment site. In addition, you need to correctly select the drug with the appropriate degree of viscosity, correctly determine the injected volume and mark the puncture points with a regular needle.

Classification

Not all cannulas are created equal. They vary in length, diameter, and wall thickness. These parameters must be indicated on the packaging (you need to look carefully at the labeling). Let's look at the main ones:

  • With or without silicone coating. Silicone facilitates the sliding of the instrument, increasing mobility;
  • The thinner the cannula wall, the less pressing force, and the easier the substance enters the skin;
  • The diameter of the device is designated by the Latin letter “G” and ranges from 30 to 21 (instruments with G19 are also found). This information is indicated for a reason: the lower the number, the more viscous the nozzle is intended for introducing;
  • The length of the device varies from 1.6 cm to 6 cm. A specific length is used for each procedure.

Moreover, in different cases they work with certain devices. For example, to inject a viscous drug deeply, to the periosteum, take a cannula no higher than G21 (this is how deep wrinkles or skin defects are corrected). For delicate correction - to correct lips a little, to get rid of small folds on the forehead - take the G30 attachment. It affects only the upper layers of the skin.

Review of manufacturers

When choosing a cannula, not only its length, diameter and other parameters are taken into account, but also the manufacturer:

Apexmed . In the line of this manufacturer you can find a variety of cannulas - special medical ones and for use in cosmetology. A wide selection of needle sizes and diameters is offered. Manufactured using “soft filling” technology. For each selected treatment area, the cannula will match the needle diameter and the required insertion depth. Flexible, highly durable, made of hypoallergenic material.

Attica . The manufacturer produces medical and cosmetology cannulas for biorevitalization and face lifting. The assortment includes soft needles of different diameters, lengths and purposes.

Vasofix offers a selection of flexible needles and other high quality medical products. The products are made from safe medical material that meets all quality standards. The cannulas have a rounded end and do not damage soft tissue, as well as blood vessels, nerve endings and ligaments. Safe for use in any area with proper selection of the diameter and length of the cannula.

Softfil . The company from France has been producing medical products for 10 years, including cannulas for cosmetic purposes. It produces microcannulas with different diameters. They ensure careful advancement in soft tissues and adapt to the features of the oval. Products are regularly improved and certified. The needle itself consists of surgical steel.

TSK Laboratory . Manufacturer of medical accessories and consumables for cosmetologists from Japan. Special alloys are used, the needle itself is perfectly smooth, the tip gently pushes apart the soft tissue when inserted under the skin, so the risk of bruising and rupture of the walls of blood vessels is reduced. The cannulas are so easy to use that they allow the specialist to perform the procedure several times faster and reduce its pain.

Merz Aesthetics . One of the most popular manufacturers of cosmetic consumables. All cannulas are made from high-quality materials, flexible, well tolerated by the skin, and hypoallergenic.

Almost all companies that produce consumables for medical purposes manufacture needles suitable for injecting fillers.

What are cannulas for contouring?

How does the use of cannulas for administering fillers differ from conventional injections? The procedure allows you to use cannulas for the following purposes:

  • give the contours of the face the necessary shape;
  • smooth out wrinkles;
  • rejuvenate the skin;
  • correct the oval of the face.

What is a cannula?
This is a small tube that allows you to introduce the necessary compounds into the deep layers of the epidermis. Its needle is thin, but with a blunt tip, so there is no hope that the procedure will be completely done without injections - you will first need to make punctures with a sharp needle. Only after this can a tube be inserted, which will easily bypass all obstacles on the way - nerve processes, capillaries, clots. For very sensitive skin, you can use microcannulas, which are even smaller in size. Thanks to the thin diameter, tissue ruptures are completely eliminated, which affects the consequences of the procedure - swelling and hematomas occur extremely rarely.

The main advantages of cannulas for contouring

Many specialists today choose cannulas for administering injectable fillers. This is due to their pronounced advantages, which include:

  • flexibility - due to this, the cannula can be moved under the skin for the most accurate implantation of the filler drug from a single hole. Thus, when using a cannula for contouring, a much smaller number of skin punctures are performed;
  • blunt ends - thanks to this quality, cannulas are much less traumatic for tissues than needles. They do not damage important structures such as nerves or blood vessels, but simply move them to the side;
  • possibility of use in many areas - since the risk of bruising and swelling when using cannulas is very small, they can be used even in difficult to work areas such as the infraorbital cavity or the nasal area.

Reviews of cannulas for contouring

We invite our readers to write their reviews on cannulas for contouring, and we will be glad if this is useful to ladies who are just planning to visit a cosmetologist for this purpose.

Vera (28 years old):

“Not so long ago I began to notice that my skin began to peel off a lot, I think this is the result of a recent illness. In addition, wrinkles also appeared near the eyes. I learned about the use of cannulas on the Internet and could not deny myself the pleasure of regaining my youth. Girls, if someone tells you that it doesn’t hurt at all, you can safely throw your purse in his face, literally every insertion of a needle into the skin made me shiver! To be fair, I can say that the results shocked me - even in my youth I didn’t look like that! The skin really smoothed out, became elastic and smooth. There’s not a trace left of the wrinkles.”

Sveta (34 years old):

“I don’t agree that the procedure is painful, it probably depends on the cosmetologist. In general, I sat for those quarter of an hour as if I were on the beach – I relaxed and enjoyed myself. I didn’t feel any pricks at all. I am completely satisfied with the results - my face looks younger before my eyes. Now I recommend this pleasant and effective method of rejuvenation to all my friends.”

Diana (37 years old):

“I’ve been afraid of injections since childhood, but I couldn’t resist and went for the procedure, because there is no other way to get rid of wrinkles, even expensive drugs are powerless. I would like to immediately mention an important plus for me - they pre-administered painkillers. I didn’t feel the injections or the injection of fillers at all, at first I even thought that they weren’t injecting me. I advise girls not to be afraid of the procedure - I did not notice any unpleasant sensations, only a pleasant bonus - the complete disappearance of defects on the face in just a quarter of an hour."

Galina Vitalievna:

“I’m already approaching fifty, but now I look only 35. How did I do this? I was tempted by the positive reviews and went to a cosmetologist, who advised me to inject fillers using cannulas. I don’t know who writes negative reviews, probably victims of novice specialists. Everything went without a hitch for me - they administered anesthesia, injected fillers into problem areas, gave me several recommendations for further care and sent me home. Now I don’t recognize myself – young and blooming.”

Tatyana (43 years old):

“Last year, on the advice of a cosmetologist, I took a course of procedures to introduce fillers, and they injected me with them. The results were incredible pain during the manipulations and tears after the session - the swelling did not go away for more than a week, I even had to take time off from work so as not to scare people. This year I decided to introduce fillers with cannulas. There were no tumors, and I practically didn’t feel the injections. The cosmetologist advised me to undergo a course of filler injections annually, I will definitely use this simple and pleasant way to regain my youth.”

Vika (24 years old):

“What made me go for the procedure were my string lips, which I felt a pity about wasting lipstick on. I was afraid, of course, but the desire to look beautiful overpowered me. They injected fillers into me with cannulas, and after the procedure the result was noticeable - my lips increased in volume. I can’t say anything about the shortcomings, except that I still felt the injections quite well.”

Daria (40 years old):

“A friend was buzzing my ears about cannulas and assured me that it not only helps against wrinkles, but also does not cause discomfort. My skin is delicate, so I was afraid that it would still be unpleasant. My fears were not confirmed - the procedure was almost painless. The face has really become younger, the contours are clearer, and the cheekbones are like a girl’s.”
