Urea in the cream - what does it mean?
For the first time, such a component as urea was synthesized two centuries ago, and to this day it is widely used both to create cosmetic products and in many other industries. In its natural form, it is present in human skin, providing approximately 7% hydration. This is an organic compound represented by translucent white granules without a distinct odor. The name of a similar substance, but produced synthetically, is urea. This is what is usually used in cosmetics.
The substance has pronounced antiviral, antibacterial and antimicrobial effects. When it is added to creams, it becomes possible to reduce the required amount of preservative, which also has a positive effect on the quality of the composition. It is advisable to use urea in such cosmetic products as moisturizing creams for different parts of the body, toothpastes, hair care products, deodorants, foundations, products for delicate skin around the eyes and to reduce wrinkles.
Urea in the cream means that you have an excellent moisturizer that will perfectly cope with dry skin, giving it smoothness and a pleasant velvety feel.
What percentage of urea content should you choose?
The percentage of urea content in the cream is selected depending on the purpose. Cosmetic and medicinal formulations contain different amounts of the substance.
- For normal skin, a cream with 1-3% urea is suitable.
- For frostbite and chapping, the 5% option is recommended.
- For aging skin, 5% formulations are used.
- Creams with 10% urea should be used after consultation with a dermatologist; they are indicated for various skin diseases.

Organization and methodology for studying the chemical composition of hand cream
The entire research program was carried out in three stages. The first stage included the accumulation, analysis and synthesis of scientific and methodological literature data from domestic and foreign authors.
At the second stage, a sociological survey was conducted, in which 20 girls aged 15-16 years took part. These are students from schools No. 3, 11,16. The sociological survey included a questionnaire consisting of 6 questions aimed at identifying the most used category of cosmetic products, the most popular brand and frequently used cosmetic products for hands.
At the third stage, statistical processing of the obtained data from the sociological survey was carried out, their interpretation and presentation of the research results.

No | 25 |
I doubt | 75 |
Next, having studied online sources about the use and production of hand cream at home, I decided to test the chosen methods and make sure of the properties of the resulting hand cream.
I prepared 3 creams, which, according to an online source, have different properties:
No. 1 Creamy yolk (nourishes the skin of the hands well, after two days of use the peeling disappears, the skin of the hands becomes much softer).
No. 2 Milk-yolk (after application to the skin of the hands, stickiness is felt for a long time due to the honey content. But after rinsing, the skin smoothes out and becomes softer).
No. 3 Vegetable-yolk cream (its disadvantage is that this cream is perishable, but it moisturizes the skin of the hands well).
After making and using hand cream, I offered it to the girls and asked the same question two weeks later: “What do you think: is it possible to replace modern hand cosmetics with folk cosmetics?” respondents' answers were distributed as follows (Table 6)
Table 6 Comparative analysis of sociological survey responses
Is it possible to replace modern hand cosmetics with traditional cosmetics? | Number of respondents in % |

Yes | 10 |
Despite the fact that the percentage of doubters remained the same, girls responded that they could make and use hand cream at home.
Although you have to spend some time preparing the cream, you know for sure that it will not harm your health, because you know its composition.
Conclusion
For many years, debates have continued about the dangers and benefits of cosmetics, including hand creams. Some people are in favor of using cosmetics, some are against it. Everyone makes their own arguments, and almost all of them are right. Cosmetics can cause both harm and benefit. The main thing is to approach the choice of cosmetics with special attention. Then your hand skin will thank you.
So, the harm of cosmetics. What is he like? First of all, all cosmetics should be divided into three main classes: mass market, luxury class and medicinal dermatocosmetics.
Mass market is the cheapest cosmetics available to almost anyone. It is produced in huge quantities. New technologies and expensive ingredients are not used in its production. Mass market cosmetics can harm your skin. But, if you are lucky and buy a product of lesser quality, it will take care of your skin without causing harm to it, but without bringing any benefit either. Mass market goods can be purchased in absolutely any store, from cheap stalls to specialized stores.
Luxury cosmetics are high quality cosmetics from well-known brands. It contains substances that moisturize the skin, protect it from UV radiation and nourish it. Irritation to cosmetics of this class can be caused by individual intolerance of the body to any trace elements or due to improper storage of these cosmetics.
Therapeutic dermatocosmetics are sold only in pharmacies. These cosmetics help treat some skin diseases, but again, they are not suitable for everyone.
In addition, any expired cosmetics, regardless of their class and price, cause harm. Of course, there is no need to give up cosmetics. But since the harm of cosmetics remains a rather serious problem, you need to buy cosmetics, monitoring their expiration date, checking the composition and storing them correctly. And whenever possible, use cosmetics prepared at home, in particular hand creams. Let your hands be well-groomed and healthy.
