Lip care. The best remedies and tips for this at home

Lip care

The skin of the lips is thin, delicate and sensitive. It does not contain sebaceous glands, and therefore requires special care and special protection.

In this post we will tell you how to properly care for the delicate skin of your lips, how to choose a care product, and what components a competent lip care product should contain to bring maximum benefit.

Lip scrub

Proper exfoliation is necessary not only for the skin of the body and face, but also for the lips. If your lip skin is smooth and healthy, you won't need a scrub. If the skin is dull and flaky, a scrub is the first assistant.

The composition and consistency of lip scrubs differs from those for the face and body. The exfoliating particles are smaller and their effect is more delicate. Popular active ingredients in lip scrubs are small crystals of salt and sugar, corn flour, polenta and oils.

How to use a lip scrub

Use a lip scrub once a week.

  • Apply the scrub to dry lips.
  • Massage gently for a minute.
  • Carefully remove the remaining scrub with a damp cloth.
  • Apply a moisturizing balm.

Important! Do not press on the skin of your lips, do not rub it, and under no circumstances use toothbrushes or hard loofah sponges.

Berry sponges or How to properly care for your lips

Regardless of the weather, lips are always visible and cannot be hidden under clothing. If your lips are in order, well-groomed and look healthy, then they will definitely attract the attention of the opposite sex. To prevent your lips from looking chapped and chapped, they need extra care and attention in winter.

The simplest lip care tip is to use a protective balm. This rule is true for both winter and summer. In winter, the balm protects the thin skin of the lips from the cold and prevents it from chapping, and in the summer - from harmful sun rays, which so dry out the sensitive and delicate skin of the lips. I usually apply the balm 10 minutes before going outside. After the balm has absorbed a little, you can apply the lipstick you usually use or lip gloss. Some, on the contrary, apply balm on top of lipstick. This method also protects your lips well and keeps them moisturized longer.

How to care for your lips if they are chapped?

If the skin on your lips is cracked, peeling and causing a lot of trouble, and you have an important meeting or date scheduled for the evening? In such cases, such simple lip care at home as a lip massage helps me out: massage your lips for 2-3 minutes with your tooth cheek.

This will increase blood flow to the lips and remove dead skin cells. After this, apply honey to your lips and leave for 5-10 minutes. Honey will give your lips extraordinary velvety, tenderness and moisture.

After rinsing off the honey with warm water, wipe your lips with a terry towel and apply a moisturizing balm to them.

Another good way to care for your lips to get rid of dry lips is a mask of castor or olive oil. Apply a few drops of one or another oil to your lips and distribute it thoroughly over the entire surface. It is best to make this mask before bed and not wash off the oil until the morning. Overnight, your lips will be thoroughly moisturized, saturated with nutrients, and in the morning they will look “like new.”

But you can make such a mask before going outside in frosty weather. Just remember to blot off excess oil with a napkin. You can apply lip gloss or hygienic lipstick on top.

If you are at work or at school and the unpleasant feeling of dry lips causes discomfort, then an ordinary baby cream will help out in such a situation. It is quite nutritious and absorbs well, so after just a few minutes your lips will feel much better. Also, eye cream will do an excellent job of moisturizing your lips, since the skin of your eyelids is closest in texture to your lips. Of course, this solution is more expensive; it is unlikely that anyone will buy eye cream to smear their lips with it. But if you urgently need to put your lips in order, and you only have eye cream on hand, know that it will help you.

Sometimes it happens that painful cracks form in the corners of the lips. Most often, this is a sign of a lack of vitamin B2. Therefore, it is necessary to include foods rich in this vitamin in your diet. These include green vegetables and fruits (especially broccoli and spinach), legumes, eggs, meat, fish, and dairy products. The peculiarity of this vitamin is that it does not accumulate in the body, therefore, for the constant presence of this vitamin in the body, it is necessary to regularly consume these foods. In general, beauty and health largely depend on proper and well-balanced nutrition. Therefore, we must take seriously what, how and when we eat. You can read an interesting article about proper and healthy eating on the women's website “Sunny Hands” here.

In addition to proper nutrition, an equally important factor in the health and beauty of the body is daily, sufficient consumption of clean water. Every day you need to drink at least 2 liters of water. This amount includes water. Tea, coffee, juices and other drinks do not count. It happens that the cause of cracks in the corners of the lips is not a lack of vitamin B2, but the beginning of dehydration of the body.

Lip care at home. Homemade lip masks.

Lips, just like our face and the skin around the eyes, will look smoother and more youthful if they are regularly pampered with various nourishing masks. I always prefer homemade masks to store-bought masks, as they are natural and prepared from fresh ingredients. In the summer I do lip masks about once a week. But in winter they need to be done more often - every other day or even every day.

One of the most delicious, and therefore my favorite, masks is a banana lip mask . Mix banana pulp with a teaspoon of sour cream and apply on lips for 10 minutes. Banana has excellent nutritional and moisturizing properties, so the lips after this procedure are especially soft and smooth.

Sour cream mask. Apply a thick layer of sour cream on your lips and leave for 15 minutes. You can use kefir instead of sour cream. Once the kefir dries, apply another layer of kefir, and then another. From the moment you apply the last layer of kefir, keep the mask on for another 10 minutes, then rinse with warm water and apply a nourishing balm or hygienic lipstick. Instead of chapstick, regular Vaseline will do.

I recently discovered a potato lip mask and was very pleased with it. I grated raw potatoes and applied the mask to the area under my eyes. Not knowing where to put the leftover potatoes, I decided to try putting it on my lips. After the potato mask, my lips became very soft and smooth.

The beauty of your lips largely depends on how carefully you take care of them. The lips, as well as the face, are characterized by the following basic rules of lip care: cleansing, regular peeling or exfoliating massage, nourishing masks and moisturizing. By following these simple rules, your lips will look perfect with any makeup.

Chapstick

Hygienic lipstick is an easy daily care product, a kind of “ambulance” for lips.

Hygienic lipstick creates a protective barrier on the skin, protects against adverse environmental factors: sun, wind, dry or frosty air. It moisturizes, nourishes and prevents dehydration of the lip skin.

The basis of hygienic lipstick is wax. It may also contain oils, but the “hygienic” product does not contain a large number of active ingredients.

Use hygienic lipstick on its own and as a base for gloss or decorative lipstick.

Place the sanitary pads in your bags and pockets and use them as needed throughout the day. They are easy to apply and convenient to use on the run.

From 50 to 65 years

At the age of 50, lip aging takes on a completely different character. Now the result of the changes is pronounced pallor and dullness of the red border, uneven coloring, flattening of the lips with loss of clarity of contours, etc. Menopausal changes add depth to wrinkles around the lips - facial care should no longer be limited to periodic procedures and should become a way of life.

At this stage of aging, home lip care should be given no less importance than before, but in addition to “external” products, it is recommended to use the bioactive additive MIRRA-EVA, which helps alleviate the symptoms of pre- and menopause, improves the quality of appearance care and prevents early or accelerated withering of the whole body.

Another product for women over 50 is ENZYMATIVE PEELING with papain - a product for the care of the skin of the lips and oral area. The plant-derived enzyme papain provides deep cleansing of the skin and protects it from microtrauma. When used at the preparatory stage, this peeling allows you to increase the effect of subsequent lip care procedures at home. By removing dead cells, peeling evens out the skin texture, refreshes its color and ensures unhindered penetration of other oral and lip care products.

Lip balm

Lip balm

Balm is a rich intensive care product.

It moisturizes, nourishes, heals the skin, eliminates peeling, heals cracks, prevents the appearance of premature wrinkles, and actively fights the negative effects of the environment. With it, the problem of cracks and dryness does not arise even in winter.

Lip balm is not just a hygienic lipstick. Even if both products are packaged in a stick and look the same.

The main difference between a balm and a hygienic lipstick is its richer composition and active healing effect.

High-quality lip balms contain valuable active ingredients, so a good balm simply cannot be inexpensive. A good balm does not contain mineral oils. It consists of waxes, natural oils, lipids, medicinal, caring and healing components.

We will tell you more about lip balms in a separate post soon.

How to properly moisturize your lips? Easily!

The skin of the lips is not capable of producing fat, therefore, their protection is very weak, they regularly lack nutrition and moisture, and therefore knowing how to moisturize your lips is very important.
Many people like to bite their lips when stressed and do not even understand what kind of trauma they cause them. The skin there is so thin and sensitive that if you treat it this way, your lips bleed and begin to crack. The condition of the skin of the lips can tell about problems in the body. Smooth, even, delicate scarlet lips indicate that everything is in order with your body. Chapped and slightly blue lips indicate problems with the heart and blood vessels, lack of care. This lip condition interferes with everyday life. The lipstick does not adhere, and there is often a feeling of tightness and irritation. Therefore, the task of moisturizing your lips should worry you constantly, especially during the cold season, since at this time the influence of cold and wind has a devastating effect on such delicate lip skin. This does not mean that you should forget about moisturizing in the summer - the skin of your lips does not have its own protection from ultraviolet radiation, so the sun negatively affects them too.

There is a misconception that in order to moisturize your lips, you just need to apply decorative lipstick to them. Lips need constant hydration, around the clock. How long can you walk around with lipstick on your lips?

Lip cream

Lip cream is an intensive care product. If you don't like the hard texture of balms, choose a cream.

It moisturizes, nourishes, regenerates the skin of the lips, and helps fight the signs of aging. Thanks to the high concentration of emollients and nourishing components, lip cream perfectly softens the skin and eliminates flaking.

The cream is also perfect for caring for dry lips. It moisturizes and nourishes the lip border, smooths out wrinkles, and fights cracks.

The composition of a good lip cream should be as simple as possible, without preservatives, dyes, fragrances and with a high concentration of active ingredients.

What to look for on the label of a competent lip cream : jojoba oil, shea butter, argan oil, almond oil, avocado oil, wheat germ oil, allantoin, retinol, coenzyme Q10, vitamin E (tocopherol), panthenol, algae.

How to use lip cream

  • It is best to use lip cream at night. Apply it in a thick layer (like a mask) and go to bed. Of course, the cream can be applied during the day, but during the day you will still “eat” half of the cream. It's like lipstick. Because whether we like it or not, we constantly lick and touch our lips, and we also eat, drink and kiss our loved ones.
